Actually it doesn't refers only even to a city of Osaka as such. The only thing we do is to apply to the theme of the competition our way of thinking about widely comprehended space, treating our work not as a looking for the idea) solution for some complex problem focused on and deriving from the targeted area, but as a trial to act - to design in this case - aware of some irreducible elements of people activity in general, and architecture in particular. The nature of space. The space is irreducible - one can't runaway from space - this makes an interaction: the space creates us - then we create the space. There is a certain way of concerning space, or spaces: a static one. It comes from tradition of the Western Culture and it follows that Culture. It moves through us not even being perceived by us. The way of thinking about space/spaces has a great influence on every human activity - to change this is actually to change everything. There are some new ideas of space - the ideas that does not produce the manners - the ideas of space as still yet to be created - space not of experience but of experiencing. The role of architecture. Architecture has its own space too - to consider this is to start to question the space of architecture - and thus to start to question architecture itself. In Western tradition architecture is the factor of solidity, stability and familiarity. In fulfilling this it produces the need for this. The above is an effect of a certain violence, the violence that allows the culture to keep the architecture in its "right" place. There is a real need to rethink this.
