EN

The statements that civilisation progress, which has led to shake the natural balance, is responsible for increasing appearance of natural calamities incline to create an effective system ensuring functioning of the state in forecast crisis situations. It also forces to improve the existing protection system, in which the military, among others the Nadwiślańskie National Guard units, have played an important role. These units, a part of the Republic of Poland armed forces, are subordinated to the Minister of the Interior and Administration. The article describes rescue actions and presents deficiencies that appeared during the flood.
