This work studied the effectiveness of fire retardant subjected to the process of artificial aging. There were used wood of scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). Formulations model consisted of potassium carbonate and guanidine carbonate at a concentration of 10 % and 20 % dissolved in water. In addition, part of the samples was secondary protected by a mixture of tung oil and white spirit in the ratio of 50/50 in order to secure carbonates from leaching. These compounds have been applied by the pressure method. Evaluation of the effectiveness of formulations and coating was made by using a mini fire tube (MFT). The best properties of the compound had have potassium carbonate and guanidine carbonate at 20%.
