EN

The ground troops logistic support on a tactical level (in a brigade and division) in the United States army is characterised by a high specialisation of logistic units and bodies to carry out logistic tasks for the fighting troops. A specific organisation structure of logistic units and bodies and a precise division of tasks between those who should perform them, serves this purpose. The novelty of organisational solution is expressed mostly in logistic bodies division into two basic parts - the logistics of planning and executive logistics. Logistics of planning create G4 teams included in division and brigade staffs, subordinated to the chiefs of staffs. Executive logistics consists of Division Support Command - DISCOM, the commander of which is directly subordinated to the division commander. Also all the logistic units (battalions) which are due to perform duties on the division and brigades level are subordinated to DISCOM. These are as follows: Main Support Battalion which carries out duties for troop branches division units (artillery, air-defence, engineering and ABC defence units); Forward Support Battalions assigned to (mechanised and armoured) brigades; Division Air Support Battalion assigned for logistic support to division air brigade.
