Rolnictwo ekologiczne zaczęło rozwijać się w Polsce w początkach lat 90. Jego rozwój zbliżony jest do krajów Unii Europejskiej, gdzie w tym czasie rozpoczął się proces ochrony środowiska przyrodniczego. Głównym celem niniejszego opracowania jest prezentacja obecnego stopnia rozwoju oraz głównych czynników rozwoju rolnictwa ekologicznego w województwie świętokrzyskim ze szczególnym zwróceniem uwagi na powiat kielecki. Rozwój rolnictwa ekologicznego, agroturystyki oraz turystyki wiejskiej może stanowić alternatywną formę działalności dla małych gospodarstw, które nie są dochodowe w obecnej chwili. Spośród wielu form rolnictwa, rolnictwo ekologiczne szczególnie nawiązuje do zasad rozwoju zrównoważonego. Rozwój tej formy aktywności stwarza możliwości uzyskania dodatkowych dochodów oraz innych korzyści. Rozwój rolnictwa ekologicznego stanowi jeden z głównych sposobów transformacji polskich gospodarstw rolnych. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań pozwalają określić perspektywy rozwoju rolnictwa ekologicznego na Kielecczyźnie.

Ecological agriculture started to develop in Poland in the early nineties. It is similar to that in EU, where in this year occurs expansion in regulation conceming protection of the environment. The main aim of this paper was to describe the current stage and the main (ecological and economic) factors effecting the development of ecological farming in the świętokrzyski province. The development of ecological agriculture, agrotourism and rural tourism could be an alternative form of activieties for small farms, which are not profitable in the świętokrzyski province at present. Among all forms of agriculture, ecological agriculture is particularly consistent with the principles of sustainable development. The development of this activity brings some incomes and possibilities of getting other profits. The development of ecological agriculture is one of the main forms of transformation of Polish farms. The results of investigations delivered information about the perspectivcs of development of ecological agricultute in The Kielecczyzna region.
