Abstrakty
In many foundries moulds for iron and steel castings are made from the self-setting sodium silicate sands hardened by liquid esters. The main advantage of this process is the low cost of the sand. The drawback can be the quality of casting surface not always consistent with customers' requirements and very low content of the reclaim which can be added to a new sand. Some foundries in an attempt to obtain better surface quality of iron and steel castings use for moulds furan system sands. [...]
