Two streets - Piotrkowska Street and Piłsudski Avenue in the same city and crossing each other are two separate worlds and represent two different types of "urban style" in Łódź. At the same time they play an important role in the life of the city and each is inseparably associated with the city centre. However, both fulfill this role differently and it seems like they form two separate centres of a completely different nature, though they function close to each other. The development of the Piotrkowska street space is in fact a closed process. On the other hand, the ongoing transformation of the Pilsudski Avenue has so far affected only some fragments of it. The development of commercial space in this area will probably continue. It is important to base the development of this area on activities that will combine the already existing variety and focus on creating a defined image. It turns out that meeting all the official guidelines in the construction of individual edifices does not guarantee spatial order. It seems necessary to create a set of joining elements to arrange larger parts of public space and at the same time give it thorough-bred appearance. As both streets interact it is important that they should be complementary to each other in terms of their urban style to extract their real nature and best features. It is also vital that man-friendly space is created.
