Democratisation of the state, economic growth at the turn of the 1980s and 90s and recognising Poland as a safe country caused new problems to appear which had never been seen on such a scale during socialist times. They include the influx of foreigners who declare themselves as refugees, crossing the border by foreigners who stay illegally on Poland’s territory, work without permission, commit crimes in Poland or who try to reach Western Europe from our country. The article discusses the idea of extradition, foreigners’ extradition in the light of international law and in Polish practice and new elements of Polish extradition practice.
