[...] Pod koniec XX wieku pojawiła się fala prywatyzacji. Niebudzący dotychczas wątpliwości zakres działań państwa, ulegał ograniczeniu. Państwo najczęściej, pozbywało się nierentownych przedsiębiorstw. Nastąpiło więc odwrócenie procesu rozwoju sektora państwowego, którego początek można datować na epokę merkantylizmu, a nasilenie na koniec dziewiętnastego i pierwszą połowę dwudziestego wieku. In the second part of the seventies of the 19th century in many countries, including Prussia (1879), the nationalization of the railways began. The reason for this was to control freight rates as well as to increase the state’s income. After the nationalization, the freight rates did not become much lower. The income from the railways was even higher than the tax income. It enabled the broadening of various state’s enterprises.
