The 20th century ideologies, together with the transformations of the constitutional and social orders of the Central Europe, count among the major topics of contemporary Czech prose. The concept of collective memory, that preserves these elements of the past, is being uncovered both on the material and non-material planes. One of the ways of its representation in literary works is the use of toponyms of predominantly commemorative character. Therefore, in a fictional world, the names of places become an essential motif reflecting the ideological influence of the political power of the time. The paper focuses on the place names the contemporary prose works contain and on the way they are involved in constructing a literary picture of the history of the 20th century. Attention is paid to the artistic representation of the ideologically motivated changes of toponyms and non-standardized toponymy as an element of identity or humor defying political power; furthermore, the particularities of linguistically diverse areas, especially in relation to German and Polish language, are considered. From the methodological point of view, the study is based, besides others, on the concept of abused memory (abus de mémoire) by the French philosopher Paul Ricoeur, which is clearly evident in the literary motif of the ideological transformations of toponyms.

Ideologie 20. století a proměny státoprávního a společenského uspořádání střední Evropy patří mezi výrazná témata současné české prózy. Kolektivní paměť, tyto prvky minulosti uchovávající, je rozkrývána jak v rovině materiální, tak nehmotné. Jedním ze způsobu její reprezentace v literárních dílech je užití toponym převážně honorifikačního charakteru. Názvy míst se tak ve fikčním světě stávají podstatným motivem, reflektujícím ideové a ideologické působení státní moci dané doby. V našem příspěvku sledujeme, jaká místní či pomístní jména současná prozaická díla obsahují a jak se podílejí na konstruování literárního obrazu dějin 20. století. Pozornost věnujeme uměleckému ztvárnění ideologicky motivovaných změn toponym a nestandardizované toponymie jako prvku identity či humoru vzdorujícímu politické moci; zaměřujeme se rovněž na specifika jazykově nehomogenních oblastí, zejména ve vztahu k němčině a polštině. Příspěvek metodologicky čerpá mj. z konceptu zneužité paměti (abus de mémoire) francouzského filozofa Paula Ricoeura, která je v literárním motivu ideologických proměn toponym výrazně zřetelná.
