Podjęto próbę określenia nefrotoksyczności bromobenzenu po wielokrotnym podaniu, wykorzystując wybrane wskaźniki biochemiczne.
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of bromobenzene (BB), administered to rats in repeated doses (from 7 up to 28 days), on selected indicators of nephrotoxicity. In our experiments, slight decrease (by 10-40%) in diurnal urine output and the increase in GSH concentration in kidneys (most visible after 7 days) was detected. The number of renal epithelial cells, which was elevated 2-3 fold and the concentration of urinary proteins, which increased up to 160% of the control values, turned out to be the most sensitive indicators. The changes in both of these indicators may reflect slight impairment of the renal tubules and glomeruli. In comparison with single administration of the BB in high dose, prolonged exposure did not result in the intensification of nephrotoxic effect of this compound.
