This paper considered the influence of new development in agricultural technoogy on European and particularly on Polish agriculture. The problem of production methods (integrated, conventional and organic) was also discussed. Although the organic farming will play an important role, both traditional and integrated farming are esential to ensure the food supply. Furth er exploitation and adopting of new technologies (precision agriculture, biotechnology, new plant protection means, fertilizers, good quality seeds) are essential to provide the future challenges of rising environmental standards and increasing population. These standards should optimize the inputs of plant protection products, fertilizers and energy, at producing the yields of high quality. Regardless of production methods it is necessary to take into consideration the influence of agriculture on natural biodiversity.
