The effect of an increased dust content of the air in the copper industry region on the pathomorphological lesions in the lungs of dairy cows The study was carried out on 13 cows aged 7-10 years coming from a copper industrial region (LGOM) and on 13 cows from an agricultural region located about 80 km away. In the copper region an increased fall of dust containing among other things heavy metals and silicon, as well as excessive limits of hung dust (for 53 days a year) were found. In the lungs of cows from the LGOM region significantly higher concentrations of silicon (max. value 4560 ppm), copper (44.8 ppm) and Pb (6.03 ppm) were noted compared with those in the agricultural districts. Intensive inflammatory infiltrations in the interalveolar septa were found in the lungs of 3 cows from the dusted region and in 2 cows from control districts. Intensive lesions a round bronchi and bronchiales were observed in 8 cows originating from the LGOM region and in 2 from the agricultural one.
