The article analyses the linguistic means of expression in the description of a knight in 'Teutonic Knights' - the last historic novel by H. Sienkiewicz. The researches take into account various linguistic forms aimed at naming and evaluating figures of knights, such as defining names - 'nomina propria', 'nomina appellativa' and word combinations of the lexeme knight and its synonyms in nominal groups. Attention was also paid as far as the marking of grouped lexemes, their etymology and scope of appearance in general Polish of the 15th and 19th c. is concerned.
