The aim of this paper is to accentuate the distinction between the ineffable, the unrepeatable and the conceptually ungraspable. These are to be considered as three modalities of the ungraspable language that enable us to understand Derrida’s attitude to negative theology. While he distanced himself from an apophasis of negative theology in the text Comment ne pas parler. Dénégations, in Différance he stated that différance is not a concept, not a word – it is an inexpressible. Therefore, there are at least three modalities of “ungraspable” language: “inexpressible”, “conceptually ungraspable”, “unrepeatable” as non-iterable. Derrida’s views on the relation between ungraspable and graspable are of the greatest interest to us.

Cieľom tohto článku je zdôrazniť a zanalyzovať rozdiel medzi nevysloviteľným, neopakovateľným a pojmovo neuchopiteľným. Všetky tri považujeme za modality neuchopiteľného v jazyku. Naším cieľom je v tejto súvislosti takisto pochopiť Derridov postoj k negatívnej teológii. Zatiaľ čo sa v texte Comment ne pas parler. Dénégations Derrida dištancuje od apofázy negatívnej teológie, v texte Diferänce tvrdí, že diferäncia nie je ani slovo, ani pojem – a teda je nevyjadriteľná. Máme tak tri modality „neuchopiteľného“ v jazyku: „nevyjadriteľné“, „pojmovo neuchopiteľné“ a „neopakovateľné“ ako neiterovateľné. Najdôležitejší je pre nás vzťah medzi neuchopiteľným a uchopiteľným a to, ako ho Derrida chápe vo vzťahu k trom uvedeným modalitám.

Nous proposons d’analyser la différence entre l’ineffable, le non-itérable et l’innommable. Toutes ces modalités sont en quelque manière présentes dans la langue. Notre but est de comprendre, à travers ces modalités, quelle est la position de Jacques Derrida en ce qui concerne la théologie négative. Dans le texte Comment ne pas parler. Dénégations, Derrida a pris ses distances de l’apophase de la théologie négative, mais dans le texte Différance, il dit que la différance n’est ni un mot, ni un concept – la différance est « innommable ». Les trois modalités mentionnées représentent ce que nous proposons d’appeler insaisissable, donc il s’agit de distinguer entre les trois modalités de l’insaisissable (l’ineffable, non-itérable et l’innommable). Toute cette problématique introduit un autre problème – quelle est la relation entre l’insaisissable et le saisissable ? La réponse que nous essaierons de donner dans notre texte est la suivante : l’insaisissable est toujours entrelacé avec le saisissable.
