The main goal of this article is to present the phenomenon of death in contemporary, post-modern European society. Unlike our ancestors from the ancient times, Middle Ages or the modern epoch, current generations cannot calmly think of their own death, nor of any other death as a matter of fact. Death has become a taboo and engendered numerous phobias. The present Europeans pretend they will not die. We are convinced that death is the greatest of all evils, while immortality and an endless existence is the most desired state that we can think of. The article argues that this is wrong and says why.
