The present article deals with several most important recent developments which have had an impact on the Polish (re)insurance markets. The article aims at assisting the readers in gaining a full understanding of principles of insurance and reinsurance activities in Poland as well as concerns arising out of them. The author concentrates on selected topics, such as an opportunity to cooperate with US reinsurers, the letter of Ministry of Finance allowing for cooperation with third-country reinsurers, consequences of Brexit, the Polish regulations of this matter, and expiration of Japan Solvency II equivalence decision in regard to reinsurance activities. Interestingly, some of above-mentioned issues could influence insurance and reinsurance activity in different ways, which is briefly discussed in the article, as well.

Niniejszy artykuł opisuje kilka wydarzeń, które miały miejsce w ostatnim czasie i mogą mieć istotny wpływ na polski rynek ubezpieczeń i reasekuracji. Celem artykułu jest pomoc czytelnikom w uzyskaniu pełnego zrozumienia zasad prowadzenia działalności ubezpieczeniowej i reasekuracyjnej w Polsce, a także wynikających z nich problemów. Autorka koncentruje się na wybranych tematach, takich jak: możliwość współpracy z amerykańskimi reasekuratorami, pismo Ministerstwa. Finansów zezwalające na współpracę z reasekuratorami z państw trzecich, konsekwencje brexitu, polskie regulacje w tej sprawie oraz wygaśnięcie decyzji o równoważności reasekuracyjnej Japonii (Wypłacalność II). Co ciekawe, niektóre z wyżej wymienionych kwestii mogą wpływać na działalność ubezpieczeniową i reasekuracyjną na różne sposoby, co również jest krótko omówione w artykule.
