The author focuses on the ideals of self-realization as they are promoted by the contemporary society in general and social media in particular. She discusses the transformations of the Oedipus complex in late capitalist society. Within this framework and referring to Lacanian conceptuality, she proceeds to explore the vissicitudes of sexual self-realization in perversions and in the transgender experience. She presents both as modes of self-production and as responses to the contemporary human condition, which, however, come with a price.

Autorka skupia się na ideałach samorealizacji promowanych przez współczesne społeczeństwo, a w szczególności przez media społecznościowe. Omawia transformacje kompleksu Edypa w późnokapitalistycznym społeczeństwie. W tak zakreślonych ramach, odwołując się do pojęciowości lacanowskiej, przygląda się wizji samorealizacji seksualnej w perwersjach i doświadczeniach transpłciowych. Przedstawia je jako sposoby samowytwarzania i jako odpowiedzi na współczesną kondycję ludzką, za które jednak płaci się pewną cenę.
