An analysis of the provisions of European Union law on the European Citizens’ Initiative leads to the conclusion that no financial benefits stem for the group of organisers from the registration of such an initiative by the European Commission. The Regulation (EU) 2019/788 imposes certain obligations on the European Commission and the European Parliament in relation to the submission of a European Citizens’ Initiative. These are discussed in detail in the study. The fulfilment of some of these obligations may be considered as a non-financial benefit to the organising group.
