The paper concerns the problem of creation of Information Society in Europe. The main target of the paper is to verify a hypothesis that European consumers' behavior proves emerging of the Information Society. At the beginning the idea of Information Society is defined and explained. Some activities of Union's and countries' authorities aiming at shaping such a society were pointed. The main part of the paper is an analysis of data describing consumers' behavior crucial from the point of view of the process of Information Society formation. The conclusion is that the process is advanced, but because of the lack of precise criteria of Information Society, it is difficult to state if it is finished yet.
