The linguistic-cultural identity of Greek Catholic Slovaks in the first half of the 20th century was accompanied by efforts to use written Slovak in liturgical celebrations and spiritual songs. The paper analyses the origins and processes of this linguistic-cultural identification. Texts in Slovak were educational and culturally formative for the broadest layers of the Slovak Greek Catholic community and cultivated the linguistic culture and its Cyril and Methodius legacy.
