American military satellite GPS system is an element of the global GNSS. It emits two codes: the precise and civil one. As late as in 2000, intentional interference that decreased precision of localization was introduced, allowing navigation accuracy of 20 m. GPS was made available to civil users, however, at their own responsibility. So, if we use GPS for our own goals, we must consider the errors that occur and their consequences. Nonetheless, commercial and operational needs determine the necessity of permanent access to satellite signal with appropriate consistency, accessibility, reliability and precision. Hence, natural and intentional errors are compensated for, using appropriate methods, based on a given activity.

Amerykański, militarny system satelitarny GPS stanowi element globalnego GNSS. Emituje dwa kody: precyzyjny i cywilny. Dopiero w 2000 r. wyłączono celowe zakłócanie zmniejszające precyzję wyznaczania pozycji, pozwalające uzyskać dokładność nawigacji do 20 m. GPS został udostępniony użytkownikom cywilnym, ale na ich własną odpowiedzialność. Toteż o ile stosujemy GPS dla swoich potrzeb to musimy liczyć się z powstałymi błędami i wynikającymi z nich konsekwencjami. Jednak potrzeby komercyjne, operacyjne determinują konieczność permanentnego dostępu do sygnału satelitarnego, charakteryzującego się odpowiednią: ciągłością, dostępnością, wiarygodnością, dokładnością. W związku z tym naturalne i celowe błędy kompensuje się stosując odpowiednie metody, w zależności od prowadzonej działalności.

W artykule podjęto dyskusję nad występowaniem w polskim sektorze budownictwa bardzo dużych zasobów danych, określanych jako Big Data. W innych sektorach, np. finansowym czy usług, obserwuje się dostępność dużych baz danych i ich wykorzystanie w celu poprawy jakości usług, lepszego dostosowania się do wymagań klienta czy poprawy konkurencyjności na rynku. Sektor budowlany, a przede wszystkim jego produkt na tle innych dziedzin gospodarki cechuje specyfika. Czy jej występowanie powoduje brak zasobów Big Data? Artykuł wskazuje na występowanie zasobów Big Data w polskim budownictwie, możliwości i sposoby ich wykorzystania.

The article discusses the work in Polish for the construction of very large data resources, referred to as Big Data. In other sectors, e.g. financial or services, the availability of the database market and their use to improve the quality of services is observed, a test version for customer testing or improvement of market competitiveness. The construction sector, and above all its product, is specific compared to other sectors of the economy. Does its occurrence result in a lack of Big Data resources? An article on the occurrence of Big Data resources in Polish construction, possibilities and ways of using them.

This paper deals with modeling and analysis of complex mechanical systems that deteriorate with age. As systems age, the questions on their availability and reliability start to surface. The system is believed to suffer from internal stochastic degradation mechanism that is described as a gradual and continuous process of performance deterioration. Therefore, it becomes difficult for maintenance engineer to model such system. Semi-Markov approach is proposed to analyze the degradation of complex mechanical systems. It involves constructing states corresponding to the system functionality status and constructing kernel matrix between the states. The construction of the transition matrix takes the failure rate and repair rate into account. Once the steady-state probability of the embedded Markov chain is computed, one can compute the steady-state solution and finally, the system availability. System models based on perfect repair without opportunistic and with opportunistic maintenance have been developed and the benefits of opportunistic maintenance are quantified in terms of increased system availability. The proposed methodology is demonstrated for a two-stage reciprocating air compressor with intercooler in between, system in series configuration.

The aim of this study is to present analyses carried out in higher education buildings in terms of accessibility for people with physical disabilities. The essence of the research is to find solutions that improve both the physical and mental condition of people with reduced mobility. Methodology of this paper was introduced on two levels. First was analysis of literature and design solutions, that have a direct impact on the movement of disabled students and employees around educational institutions. Second was preparation of sketches and diagrams presenting the research results (graphical method). The above research and analyses extend the study field on the concept of movement of people with physical disabilities to issues of educational facilities and present a series of design guidelines, that can be proposed in this type of space. People with physical disabilities are very often excluded from academic life due to insufficient adaptation of facilities to their needs and capabilities. Well organized space ensures physical safety, protecting the user from injuries, while the design of the aesthetics of the interior space can contribute to the improvement of mental health.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie analiz przeprowadzonych w obiektach szkolnictwa wyższego pod kątem dostępności dla osób niepełnosprawnych ruchowo. Istotą badań jest wyszukanie rozwiązań poprawiających zarówno kondycję fizyczną, jak i psychiczną osób o ograniczonej zdolności poruszania się. Metodologia pracy obejmuje dwie płaszczyzny badań. Pierwsza to analiza pozycji literaturowych oraz rozwiązań projektowych mających bezpośredni wpływ na poruszanie się niepełnosprawnych studentów i pracowników po placówkach edukacyjnych. Druga obejmuje sporządzenie szkiców oraz schematów prezentujących wyniki badań (metoda graficzna). Powyższe badania i analizy rozszerzają pole badawcze poruszania się osób niepełnosprawnych ruchowo o problematykę obiektów szkolnictwa, a także prezentują serię wskazówek projektowych możliwych do zaproponowania w tego typu przestrzeniach. Osoby niepełnosprawne ruchowo bardzo często zostają wykluczone z życia akademickiego ze względu na niedostateczne dostosowanie obiektów do ich potrzeb i możliwości. Odpowiednio zorganizowana przestrzeń zapewnia bezpieczeństwo fizyczne, chroniąc użytkownika od urazów, natomiast projekt estetyki pomieszczeń może się przyczynić do poprawy zdrowia psychicznego.

Underground mining development is directly related to face drilling rig performance. Reducing operating costs and improving productivity are current and crucial topics for mining projects around the world within the development phase. Unlike past approaches, this article is based on variations of equipment availability and utilisation, and their impact on development plans success and costs decrease. To assess the influence of these parameters, daily field data were collected to identify major downtimes in normal cycles and apply adequate corrective measures to mitigate them. Additionally, this article presents the reader with a graphic illustration of the correlation between utilisation and development, including historical data. This paper was developed from October 2017 to March 2018. The result of this study seeks to identify when projects generate profits by comparing four situations with constant productivity, but variables such as the possession rate, maintenance fee, production and utilisation. Finally, it is demonstrated that success in mining projects, related to equipment, is proportional to the utilisation of the fleet, with the correct management of productivities.

The degradation process of wind turbines is greatly affected by external factors. Wind turbine maintenance costs are high. The regular maintenance of wind turbines can easily lead to over and insufficient maintenance. To solve the above problems, a stochastic degradation model (SDE, stochastic differential equation) is proposed to simulate the change of the state of the wind turbine. First, the average degradation trend is obtained by analyzing the properties of the stochastic degradation model. Then the average degradation model is used to describe the predictive degradation model. Then analyze the change trend between the actual degradation state and the predicted state of the wind turbine. Secondly, according to the update process theory, the effect of maintenance on the state of wind turbines is comprehensively analyzed to obtain the availability. Then based on the average degradation process, the optimal maintenance period of the wind turbine is obtained. The optimal maintenance time of wind turbines is obtained by optimizing the maintenance cycle through availability constraints. Finally, an onshore wind turbine is used as an example to verification. Based on the historical fault data of wind turbines, the optimized maintenance decision is obtained by analyzing the reliability and maintenance cost of wind turbines under periodic and non-equal cycle conditions. The research results show that maintenance based on this model can effectively improve the performance of wind turbines and reduce maintenance costs.

W artykule zawarto wybrane aspekty związane z procesem analitycznym i projektowym przebudowy głównego placu w mieście z perspektywy architekta projektanta na przykładzie placu Fryderyka Chopina w Nowym Tomyślu. Uwarunkowania formalno-przestrzenne lub funkcjonalne, bądź ich połączenie, są wyznacznikiem przestrzeni określanej jako centrum. Walory kulturowe miejsca, w tym te odnoszące się do historii, związane z jego tożsamością, decydują o zakresie zachowania, wyeksponowania i dopuszczalnych zmianach ich istotnych elementów. Komponenty przestrzeni, kompozycja urbanistyczna, cechy zabudowy, dominanty formalne i funkcjonalne wraz z kontekstem są kanwą do wyznaczenia zakresu ingerencji projektowej w istniejącej strukturze przestrzennej. Potrzeby społeczne, profil użytkowników - społeczności lokalnej oraz wizytatorów - wpływają na przyjęte rozwiązania funkcjonalne. Analiza powiązań transportowych, głównych kierunków napływu użytkowników, ich hierarchii i funkcji, pozwala na określenie zakresu dostępności komunikacyjnej.

The article contains selected aspects related to the analytical and design process of rebuilding the main square in the city from the perspective of an architect - designer, on the example of Fryderyk Chopin Square in Nowy Tomyśl. Formal - spatial or functional conditions, or their combination are an indicator of the space defined as the center. Cultural values of the place, including those related to history, related to its identity, determine the extent of behavior, exposure and permissible changes of their essential elements. Space components: urban composition, building features, formal and functional dominants with the context are the canvas for determining the extent of design interference in the existing spatial structure. Social needs, the profile of users - the local community and visitors influence the adopted functional solutions. The analysis of transport connections, the main directions of the influx of users, their hierarchy and functions allows to determine the scope of transport accessibility.

Dostępność usług transportowych jest jednym z podstawowych warunków realizacji potrzeb bytowych i aktywności społeczno-gospodarczej ludności. Brak dostępu do takich usług nazywane jest wykluczeniem komunikacyjnym. Analizy wskazują, że w Polsce systematycznie zmniejsza się zarówno liczba, jak i długość linii komunikacji autobusowej, głównie autobusowej komunikacji regionalnej. Niewielkie jest także zainteresowanie jednostek samorządów terytorialnych budowaniem wspólnej oferty komunikacji publicznej. Rośnie zarazem wskaźnik motoryzacji. Ważnym warunkiem kształtowania zintegrowanej sieci transportu publicznego jest współpraca: współpraca różnych ośrodków władzy na różnych szczeblach, współpraca władz z przewoźnikami, współpraca z mieszkańcami, umożliwiająca pozyskanie ich opinii. Ważną rolę mogą i powinny odegrać w tym organizacje pozarządowe, które w wielu miejscach w Polsce istnieją i działają, wskazując pożądane i oczekiwane przez ludzi rozwiązania w obszarze transportu, np. przebieg dróg rowerowych czy położenie punktów przesiadkowych, lub wskazując niedociągnięcia i braki infrastruktury.

The availability of transport services is one of the basic conditions for meeting the living needs and socio-economic activity of the population. The lack of access to such services is called a communication exclusion. Analyzes indicate that in Poland, both the number and the length of bus lines, mainly regional bus lines, are systematically decreasing. There is also little interest of local government units in building a common public transport off er. At the same time, the automotive index is rising. An important condition for shaping an integrated public transport network is cooperation: cooperation of various authorities at diff erent levels, cooperation of authorities with carriers, cooperation with residents, enabling them to obtain their opinions. An important role can and should be played by non-governmental organizations that exist and operate in many places in Poland, pointing to the desired and expected solutions in the area of transport, e.g. the course of bicycle routes or the location of transfer points, or pointing to shortcomings and defi ciencies in infrastructure.

In this paper we describe and use a meta-heuristic optimization method is the algorithm of bats to be able to solve the problem of optimizing redundancy. This problem is known because we will strive to reduce the investment cost of the serial-parallel power system configuration through the algorithm, not to mention to maximize reliability and this is one of the constraints. Redundant components are included to achieve the desired level of availability, and service continuity. The maintainability of the system is based on a multi-state availability function. The elements of the power system are characterized by their performance, reliability, and availability and cost. These elements are chosen from a list of products available on the market. The meta-heuristic proposed seeks the best solution for a better configuration for our structure, which composes the system to be able to minimize the cost with the desired maximum reliability. To estimate the availability of the serial-parallel power system, a fast method based on the universal moment generation (UMGF) function is suggested. The algorithm approach of bats is used as an optimization technique. One gives an example of a power supply system for present simulation

This article presents an analytical model of complex non-full-availability telecommunications systems. The high degree of accuracy of the model is demonstrated by a comparison with the results of simulation experiments. Due to the introduction of an availability parameter, this model may be used in the future for analyzing real systems, such as, for example, cloud computing infrastructure. This will be possible provided that the function combining the physical structure of the system and the availability parameter is specified. This problem will be addressed in our future work and will constitute the next stage of research undertaken by the authors.

The use of Multi Agents Systems (MAS), Cloud Computing (CC) and Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) in e-commerce has increased in recent years. The purpose of these systems is to enable users of electronic markets to make transactions in the best conditions and to help them in their decisions. The design and implementation is often characterized by the constant manipulation of information, many of which are imperfect. The use of the multi-agent paradigm for the realization of these systems implies the need to integrate mechanisms that take into account the processing of fuzzy information. This makes it necessary to design multi-agent systems (MAS) with fuzzy characteristics. For the modeling and realization of this system, we chose to use the FMAS model. This paper deals with the presentation of the use of the Fuzzy MAS model for the development of a management and decision support application in a virtual market with high availability. After the presentation of the system to be realized in the first section, we describe in the second section the application of the model FMAS for the design and the realization of this system. We then specify the JADE implementation platform and how the fuzzy agents of our model (Expert, Choice and Query) can be implemented using this platform.

Zdalna diagnostyka posiada w polskiej energetyce ponad 15-letnią historię i możliwą, długą przyszłość. Nie tylko ze względu na doświadczenia pandemii powinna być intensywnie rozwijana zwłaszcza na długo eksploatowanych blokach tej samej klasy w końcowej części ich resursu. Nowym blokom, prawdopodobnie gazowo-parowym będzie towarzyszyła od początku ich eksploatacji. Pozwala zapewnić bezpieczeństwo i dyspozycyjność w niskonakładowy sposób na podstawie analizie w trybie on-line informacji oraz systematycznie powiększanej wiedzy i kompetencji personelu nie tylko wykonującego diagnostykę. Skojarzona z metodami zaawansowanej analityki oraz sztucznej inteligencji może być jednym ze źródeł strategii w zakresie zarządzania majątkiem produkcyjnym elektrowni.

Remote diagnostics has over 15 years of history in the Polish power sector and a possible long future. Not only because of the experience of pandemic, it should be intensively developed, especially in long time operated power units of the same class, in the final part of their life cycle. New power units, probably gas and steam, will accompanied by remote diagnostics from the beginning of their operation. It allows you to ensure safety and availability in a low-cost manner based on on-line analysis of information and systematically increasing knowledge and competences of personnel not only performing diagnostics. Associated with the methods of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, it can be one of the sources of strategies for managing the production assets of a power plant.

This article presents a model of performance analysis for a truck fleet system in an openpit mine, considering special characteristics of haul fleets. In these systems, the expected availability of each piece of equipment and its operating capacity are the fundamental variables to construct a global fleet performance function. Our analytical algorithm considers heterogeneous fleets with known individual characteristics of transport capacity and failure and repair behavior. The results converge to a new indicator denominated “Equivalent Availability” (EA), which arises from the need to evaluate the capacity of the truck fleet to operate at a lower payload than required using different combinations of equipment to achieve an availability goal. EA is a key indicator to determine the productive capacity of a process, and for selecting equipment and their combinations to achieve production objectives. To exemplify the potentialities of the EA, a case study is implemented in a Chilean copper truck fleet mining process.

Today, every industry is striving for the highest efficiency and best economic results possible, with the greatest possible competitiveness. But in maritime affairs, human safety and environmental protection are the foundations of sustainability. To achieve this, marine systems must be reliable, high quality and easy to maintain. Because of this, reliability has become an important factor in safety, which remains relevant throughout the lifetimes of ship systems, including fire alarm systems. In this paper we address a number of issues connected with the reliability – and ‘availability’ of these systems. Firstly, ship fire alarm systems consist of various components whose individual reliability affect the system’s overall reliability. Discussions of reliability in ship fire alarm systems normally focus on the length of a system’s useful life or performance during design-based fire events. In addition to the reliability of systems, their availability for use is also crucial given the possibility that the system may need to operate at any point in time.

European Commision adopted in July new regulations about laying down airspace usage requirements and operating procedures concerning performance based navigation. It is next step in realization of the the global program PBN ICAO. At the 36th General Assembly of ICAO held in 2007, the Republic of Poland agreed to ICAO resolution A36-23 which urges all States to implement PBN. In future aviation concepts the use of Performance Based Navigation (PBN) is considered to be a major Air Traffic Management (ATM) concept element. ICAO has drafted standards and implementation guidance for PBN in the ICAO Doc 9613 “PBN Manual”. The Based Performance Navigation Concept represents and shift from sensor-based to performance based navigation connected with criteria for navigation: accuracy, integrity, availability, continuity and functionality depending on the phase of the flight. Through PBN and changes in the communication, surveillance and ATM domain, many advanced navigation applications are possible to improve airspace efficiency, improve airport sustainability, reduce the environmental impact of air transport in terms of noise and emission, increase safety and improve flight efficiency.

The subject of the article concerns the issue of transport accessibility, due to the special needs of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility. The disability related to the state of health is presented numerically for Poland, including the dysfunctions occurring and also in relation to the population of Europe and the world. The presented values indicate a significant size of problems that cannot be ignored or downplayed in the context of the policy of equal treatment of all citizens. On the basis of European and Polish legal regulations, the issues of rail transport accessibility in relation to meeting the requirements specified in the technical specifications for interoperability are discussed. The conditions specified in the PRM TSI for the “Infrastructure”and “Rolling Stock” subsystems are presented in detail, including the obligation to create registers: railway infrastructure and rolling stock and requirements for the development of strategic documents, such as national implementation plans and access strategies to passenger infrastructure and access strategies to passenger rolling stock. Following the National Implementation Plan of the PRM TSI, a diagnosis of the condition and assessment of the accessibility of Polish railways for people with disabilities was discussed, as well as the functioning principles and actions taken by infrastructure managers and railway operators to eliminate existing barriers. The article also indicates the internal project carried out in the Railway Track and Operation Department of the Railway Research Institute, concerning the development of a method facilitating the preparation of a strategy guaranteeing full access to passenger infrastructure in accordance with the requirements of the TSI PRM. The proposed method uses the questionnaire of the facility, which covers all aspects related to the accessibility of the railway station for people with disabilities. This project is an offer for rail infrastructure managers who are required to have a strategy for each passenger station and are part of the state policy implemented to improve the accessibility of public space.

This paper deals with the performance assessment of a textile industry, namely African Textile Manufactures (ATM) Ltd., in Chalawa, Kano industrial estate, Federal Republic of Nigeria. The entire system ATM has different sections of machines for processing various assignments. The machines in the sections have diverse capabilities. We assumed the following subsystems: spinning, weaving, pretreatment, printing, and steaming. The failure rates of subsystems are constant, and they follow exponential distribution, while the repairs follow two types of distributions, namely general distribution and Gumbel–Hougaard family copula distribution. The system analyzed by employing supplementary variable and the Laplace transform. Various measures of reliability have been computed for differential values of failures and two types of repair. The conclusions and some recommendations are addressed to improving the management of ATM.

The authors calculate the steady-state availability and the cost-benefit analysis for three different systems with mixed standby (cold standby, warm standby) and imperfect coverage. The coverage factor is the same for an operative-unit failure as that for a warm standby-unit failure. The failure times of the operative unit and the warm standby unit are exponentially distributed while the repair time is arbitrarily distributed. The supplementary variable technique is applied to derive the steady-state availability for three different configurations. For each system, the steady-state availability is calculated according to two different cases for repair time distributions, such as exponential, and k-stage Erlang, where k = 2, 3. The configurations are compared as based on availability and cost/benefit at a special numerical value given to the distribution parameters.
