Inventory decisions are both high risk and high benefit throughout supply chain. Inventory management plays a crucial role since it assists manufacturing firms enhance their efficiency and competitiveness. Service level is a basic performance indicator of shortage inventory when an order is placed. Precise forecasts and optimum level of inventory can decrease the stock-outs and enhance the inventory service level. Finished goods are most common form of inventories have direct related with customer. Thus, the importance of specifying the suitable level of finished goods inventory assets for right planning and control of factory operations and optimization of the overall process to optimize production cost and time and consequently to improve service level. So, inventory management system supported by real time is requisite to ensure consistently both product availability and order accuracy. In this study, adaptive stochastic inventory management approach for evaluation service level was modelled which addressed inventory policies in order to optimize service level as a realistic value. This approach developed a Stochastic Inventory Management for Evaluating Service Level (SIMESL) module basically formulated Computational Intelligent (CI) in such a way that evaluated Availability Of Product (AOP) and Accuracy Of Order (AOO). It is structured with two models are: Evaluation Dynamic Maximum Economic Order Quantity (EDEOQ) model developed Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to evaluate the optimum inventory level of finished goods as a function of product varied demand and lead time. The second one, Variability Between-Among Dynamic Economic Order Quantity (VB-ADEOQ) is modeled a fuzzy logic to estimate the performance measures (AOP and AOO) that make sure the required order is being processed and delivered on time. Finally, the effectively of the adaptive approach is evaluated through a tested theoretical data. The obtained results were proof it’s efficiently in exactly evaluating of an unavailable the required demand about 46.937% and delivered to their final destination without errors about 56.655%. While, Taguchi method used to optimize and determine relative magnitude of the effect of various factors and their interactive. The obtained results were proved and reliability in determining the customer satisfaction score in real-world. Finally, the developed module was proved their reliability and accurately in addressing the vague data, uncertainty, no formulas, and varied inputs in determining the customer satisfaction score in real-world. Purpose: The purpose of this article was to assess changes and trends in the main parameters characterizing inventory management in industrial processing enterprises in 2006-2009, 2010- 2013 and 2018-2022. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis covered business entities by Divisions of Section C - “Manufacturing” in relation to four crisis situations. The research undertaken is descriptive, spatial-temporal and critical analysis - the changes and deviations of selected indicators from average values in periods of prosperity are indicated. The presentation of the research results includes descriptive form and graphical form in the form of figures. The numerical data came from the Statistics Poland website. Findings: In the majority of manufacturing enterprises, all crisis situations had an adverse effect on inventory management. The exceptions were D17, D21 and D32 enterprises, which showed no negative sensitivity to crisis situations. Research limitations/implications: The geopolitical and macroeconomic situation has impeded most of the favorable trends after the post-pandemic “rebound” in 2022. For this reason, it was difficult to clearly assess the impact of the energy crisis on inventory management at the surveyed companies. Originality/value: The originality of the study lies in the fact that it was carried out for four different crisis situations and was concerned with assessing changes in the parameters characterizing inventory management, rather than assessing the value of indicators.

Controlling the size of inventories in a manufacturing company allows, firstly, to reduce costs, secondly, to increase profits, and thirdly, to relieve the burden on working capital. In practice, the approach and indicators chosen by companies for inventory management and planning often turn out to be ineffective, which may subsequently cause problems related to lack of funds for settlements with suppliers, lack of warehouse space, the possibility of losing important customers, and the like. The combination of all such problems can lead to the bankruptcy of a company. Inventory control is a complex process that should be improved. The aim of the research work was to analyze inventory management and develop directions for improving and increasing the efficiency of the inventory control system of a selected company from the construction industry. The article characterizes the activities of the analyzed company, and an analysis of inventory control was carried out, during which problems related to this process were revealed. As part of the project, three groups were distinguished in terms of rotability of finished beam-type products. As a result, recommendations for solving the existing shortcomings were proposed for each group.

In this study, we analyze how a company's inventory policy changes because of adopting CSR policies in the manufacturing companies listed on the Shanghai Shenzhen stock exchange by targeting manufacturing companies, as their overall policies are greatly impacted by the level of inventory. The analysis focus on how inventory policies affect Chinese companies' CSR. Inventory levels affect company policies therefore we chose manufacturing companies. The uniqueness of the topic warranted us to research CSR and Inventory management from historical and current viewpoints. The topic has few investigations, especially in China. Increased worker, consumer, and environmental satisfaction may impact volume, according to this study. Given the uniqueness of the topic, there are a very limited number of studies conducted on the topic, especially in the Chinese context, which warrants us to conduct the study, keeping in view the historical and present perspectives of both CSR and Inventory management. In this study, we take this step further by examining whether the volume is affected by efforts to improve the satisfaction of staff, consumers, and the natural environment. We found that customer satisfaction positively affects the cost-to-sales ratio. Environmental consciousness harms the ratio, and employee satisfaction has an inverted U-shaped association with this ratio. It was also found that customer satisfaction positively correlates with inventory levels. Our research has shown that increased levels of social responsibility led to decreased levels of customer corporate social responsibility and increased levels of CSR, which explains the non-linear relationship between a company's total CSR and the to-sales ratio. According to the collected data, the ratio of profits to sales tends to increase when a company's CSR rating is much higher (or lower) than the mean of the CSR distribution.

Wyjątkowość tematu skłoniła nas do zbadania CSR i zarządzania zapasami z historycznego i aktualnego punktu widzenia.

This research addresses an inventory classification problem in a company that manufactures plastic pallets. Classification of the inventory is difficult because it is subject to two restrictions: the number of changeovers and the size of inventory storage. A mathematical model is first proposed to maximize the fill rate by classifying all product items into four groups. Due to all items can be classified based on the monthly demand, in descending order. The present study then proposed a procedure to find the classification that is most efficient. According to the experimental results, the maximum fill rate in the current situation is 89.85%. The proposed methodology also tested different production batches and levels of demand. The proposed methodology was found to be appropriate for practical application.

Background: The decision-making process in the operational context of enterprises is an integral aspect of how they function, and in this area, precise demand forecasting plays a key role. The use of accurate forecasting models not only meets customer expectations but also enables efficient resource allocation and operational cost optimization. In the long term, such actions contribute to increasing the organization's competitiveness in the market. In recent years, there has been a growing trend in the use of advanced analytical technologies, including machine learning, for demand forecasting purposes. This scientific paper focuses on a comparative analysis of demand forecasting effectiveness using the generative language model GPT in relation to the auto ARIMA algorithm. Methods: A case study analysis for a selected manufacturing organization was conducted based on twelve diversified operational references, for which the supply chain mechanisms are heterogeneous. In the research process, a classification into four reference groups was established, based on the time required to complete the ordering process. Forecast generation was carried out using the auto.arima() algorithm in the R programming environment, as well as through the ChatGPT language model versions 3-5. The forecast results were subjected to comparative analysis, in which weighting was applied for different forecast accuracy indicators, including the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), and the number of precisely predicted daily forecasts. Results: The study showed that ChatGPT is more reliable in forecasting compared to ARIMA. However, integrating ChatGPT into the existing systems in the company can be problematic, mainly due to limitations in data operations. Despite this, ChatGPT has the potential to improve the accuracy of inventory management plans both in the short and long term. Conclusions: The comparative analysis of the effectiveness of forecasting models, including ChatGPT and ARIMA, showed that the ChatGPT algorithm achieves higher levels of forecasting accuracy. This is observed despite increased computational complexity and challenges associated with processing large data sets.

Background: Circular supply chain management encourages manufacturers to take advantage of used materials and industrial wastes, ensuring social and economic benefits of enhanced environmental sustainability in production. With the development of digital technologies, transactions can be recorded within distributed or decentralized ledger technology. To improve the reliability of digital transactions on the internet, manufacturers need to apply security software such as blockchain technology across a network. Blockchain technology in the supply chains brings transparency, traceability, and security to online transactions, increasing customer attractiveness to the used product and recycling process. Secure transactions might bring significant benefits to the future of the retail industry. The manufacturer exploits the retailer as an online store. Consumers access an online store for purchase, return, and comment on the manufacturer's products. Methods: This research presents a novel meta-heuristic algorithm, specifically, adaptive particle swarm optimization (adaptive PSO), to determine the optimal policy for product price and quantity of materials imported from suppliers for maximizing total profits with sustainability. The adaptive PSO algorithm evaluates the fitness function involving discrete random variables. The supply chain model captures realistic conditions by considering the inherent uncertainties of customer demand. Two scenarios in business settings have been tested on the same customer demand. The proposed framework is intended to yield a more sustainable, resilient, and regenerative system, securing the data of the shared community. Results: The swarm intelligence algorithm implements profit optimization to determine the unit price of the product and the number of materials to be imported. The numerical experiments are conducted to demonstrate the efficacy of the optimal strategy and to evaluate the effect of the number of used products returned to the recycling center. An effective circular supply chain management is realized based on a secure database shared across a network of participants. Key findings significantly contribute to the intelligent decision support system for optimizing inventory management under various stochastic scenarios. Conclusions: Sharing, reusing, repairing, and remanufacturing help companies transition to a circular economy, minimize waste, diversify sources of supply, and maintain production continuity. Transactions on the blockchain framework become transparent and traceable. Based on the circular economy and blockchain platform, this study deals with an adaptive particle swarm optimization algorithm (APSO) to determine the optimal policy for product unit price and quantity of materials imported from suppliers to maximize total profits. The presented methodology can provide better supply chain visibility and traceability under highly realistic stochastic environments.

Inventory management’s fundamental problem starts with maintaining equilibrium among the operating efficiency, cost of investment, and other allied costs with extensive inventories to keep the actual conflicts at the minimum while optimizing the inventory holding levels. But, inventory management practices have not been well exploited in various manufacturing industries yet. In this study, inventory management tools, i.e., ABC and VED analysis, have been applied in the manufacturing industry, considering 146 items as raw material for an assembly. A total of 15 items under ‘AV’ class have been identified that consume 82.05 % of the total cost, and these items need strict control and frequent ordering. Sigma level of suppliers is also calculated, which comes out to be 2.36, and it must be improved to reduce the overall inventory cost.

The presence of the spare parts stock is a necessity to ensure the continuity of services. The supply of spare parts is a special case of the global supply chain. The main objective of our research is to propose a global spare parts management approach which allows decision makers to determine the essential points in stock management. Thus, it is important for the stock manager to evaluate the system considered from time to time based on performance indicators. Some of these indicators are presented in the form of a dashboard. The presentation of this chapter chronologically traces the progress of our research work. In the first part, we present the work related to the forecast of spare parts needs through parametric and statistical methods as well as a Bayesian modelling of demand forecasting. To measure the appreciation of the supply of spare parts inventory, the second part focuses on work related to the evaluation of the performance of the spare parts system. Thus, we concretize the link between the management of spare parts and maintenance in the third part, more precisely, in the performance evaluation of the joint -management of spare parts and maintenance, in order to visualize the influence of parameters on the system. In the last section of this chapter, we will present the metaheuristic methods and their use in the management of spare parts and maintenance and make an analysis on work done in the literature.

In a well-organized company, stock levels are precisely planned. In order to optimize inventory, various analyses of inventory usage are carried out in terms of them quantity and status. The work presents research on improving the method of managing inventory in the tire industry using the example of a selected company. The company operates warehouses in which tires for passenger cars and vans are stored. Products stored in warehouses ensure high standards. The company focuses on individuality and has a strong market position. The paper presents the results of the ABC and XYZ analysis that allow grouping tires by demand, value and number. The criteria for choosing the ABC/XYZ method are a simple way of use and low financial outlays, in contrast to such methods as MRP or just in time. Furthermore, calculations of such standards as rotation ratios for individual seasons and optimal inventory were carried out. The rotation indicator allows determine which goods are sold quickly and which goods are selling poorly, and therefore the costs associated with their storage are probably higher than from the sale of profits. As a result of the analysis, improvements were made to the inventory management system. The implementation of the proposed methods and tools for inventory management allowed the company to eliminate unnecessary inventories, reduce storage costs and minimize inventory control.

The literature on product variety provides great insights into various businesses. However, little research has been conducted on product variety in the healthcare industry. This study aims to explore the influence of product variety on inventory in hospitals. Since most hospitals are known to replenish products using a homegrown ad-hoc system, a model is developed for exploring all possible product combinations and substitutions. This article presents the behaviour of product substitution, which may be either one-to-one or many-to-one for both sterile and non-sterile products, in the hospital with cost factors. It discusses the product variety reduction and its corresponding cost impacts. The data on a hospital inventory over the course of six years has been procured from a hospital in Norway. Based on the results, the hospital could have a potential product variety reduction of approximately 11% and cost savings from the spending of approximately NOK 3.6 million. Reducing the variety of products in hospital inventories proves to be an approach to reducing costs. The model developed for the research.
