In this paper the method of the identification of sulphur dioxide inflow direction has been presented. This method is based on the circular graphs of percentiles (50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 95, 98) of sulphur dioxide concentration from measuring station in WAU campus. The measuring data of wind velocity and wind direction from this automatic station have been used to prepare 3D-roses of pollution.

In the paper, research work in the area of geomatics carried out during the last decade by the Division of Spatial Information Systems and Forest Geodesy of the Department of Forest Management, Geomatics and Forestry Economics of the Faculty of Forestry at Warsaw Agricultural University is presented. This work is performed within statutory activities, as own research and research supported by grants financed by the State Scientific Research Committee and other institutions. Statutory activities refer to geomatics in multi-purpose forestry and are focused on methods of collecting, processing and presentation of information on forests, national parks and monumental parks. In the paper, titles of 5 grants of the State Scientific Research Committee are given as well as 10 grants of the University which financed establishing of laboratories, and 19 themes financed by the State Forests, Ministry of Environment and EU funds. The role of the employees of the Division in drawing up the concept and technology and in implementation of a forest numerical map, which provides the basis for SIS, was emphasized. Their achievements include, among others, working out a number of methods of the use of aerial and satellite pictures in forestry, 316 publications in the area of geomatics in forestry, including the monograph. Geomatics in the study of spatial structures in forest complexes.. Titles of 8 doctoral thesis defended in the years 1995.2004 are quoted as well as 4 titles in the opened registration and conferment procedure for a doctoral degree. Attention is drawn to active participation of the employees of the Division (organisation, co-organisation, participation) in national and European research projects and other scientific and research events. A list of 10 most important achievements of the Division . one in each year in the period 1994.2003 are presented (4 concepts and 6 methods). As the teaching achievement of the Division it is considered the introduction in 1992 of the subject. Fundamentals of photogrammetry and of spatial information systems. with lectures at different levels of forestry specialization and setting up in 1994 of a specialization .Application of SIS in forestry.. Titles of 3 earliest diploma thesis concerning numerical maps (1981, 1983 i 1988) are quoted as well as 10 examples out of 169 thesis in the area of SIS defended in the years 1991.2003, which manifest a change of research problems over time, and, fmally, titles of 15 master`s thesis prepared in 2004. The Division is equipped with 3 teaching labs (including 2 computerized) and carries out teaching activities for alt organisational units of the Forestry Faculty and for other Faculties at the Warsaw Agricultural University dealing with spatial management, landscape architecture, environment protection, tourism and recreation, and information technology.
