Psychologists, teachers of inclusive education (for example, a teacher's assistant), parents, and IT specialists are involved in the process of teaching students with autism. Modern information technologies of education support can help paraprofessionals to perform their functions. Virtualization of educational content, namely avatars in the mode of augmented (virtual) reality, will allow taking into account the personal learning opportunities and needs of students with autism. The semantic differential method should be used to understand how the proposed virtual assistant satisfies the individual characteristics of such a student.

The special feature of teaching children with special needs is the need to take into account their needs and abilities. An integral part of the process of teaching students with autism is the provision of communication, the development of social skills and academic (traditional) training. For the development and improvement of the system of IT support for the training of children with autism, the most promising directions are the technologies of an Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). The model of data flows in such support system allows determining its basic features and principles of operation in the system. To train Social and household orientation for students with autism, several social scenarios were proposed, using the VR and AR technologies.

Introduction: The occurrence of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has significantly increased in the last few years. One of the common problems in this group are eating disorders and ailments from the gastrointestinal systems. According to some studies, these problems have a significant impact on the occurrence and severity of symptoms in the neurological system, so it is crucial to increase the attention paid on the role of diet in the treatment of this disease. One of the theories connects ASD with disorders of the digestive system and the intestinal bacterial flora. This theory is based on the gut-brain axis, which means the interaction between the gastrointestinal and nervous systems. Objectives: To demonstrate the differences in behavior habits, interest in nutrition, and frequency of consumption of food products between children suffering from ASD and healthy children. Materials and methods: The study was conducted among 44 children suffering from ASD and 33 healthy children as a control group. Data were collected using a questionnaire that was specially designed for this study. The questionnaire contained questions about eating habits and the frequency of consumption of selected food products. Results: Parents of healthy children showed more interest in their children’s way of feeding and nutritional recommendations compared to parents of children with ASD (4% and 11.3%, respectively). In addition, 24.3% more children with ASD consulted with a nutritionist compared to the control group. Complaints of the digestive system were 21.1% more likely by children with ASD. Children suffering from ASD were characterized by a higher intake of red meat and giblets and less frequent consumption of milk and milk products compared to the control group. There were no statistically significant differences between the study group and the control group in terms of frequency of consumption of products, which are the source of gluten, artificial food additives-preservatives, and artificial colors. Conclusions: There are differences in the habits and eating behaviors and the frequency of consumption of selected food products between a group of children with ASD and a group of healthy children.

Wśród czynników środowiskowych znaczącą rolę odgrywają zarówno czynniki działające w okresie prenatalnym i perinatalnym, jak i noworodkowym czy nawet niemowlęcym. Uzyskane wyniki mogą wskazywać na ważnę rolę czynników środowiskowych w etiologii i przebiegu zaburzeń ze spektrum autyzmu.

W ciągu ostatniej dekady znacznie wzrosła ilość osób ze zdiagnozowanym „spektrum zaburzeń autystycznych”. Na podstawie szacunkowych danych można określić, iż w Polsce jest ponad 30 tys. osób chorych na autyzm, w związku z powyższym liczba osób, których dotyczy ten problem wynosi ponad 100 tys. w Polsce. Rosnące zapotrzebowanie na obiekty i przestrzenie publiczne dostosowane dla potrzeb tej grupy osób wymaga usystematyzowania wiedzy zakresie projektowania architektonicznego uwzględniającego wymagania osób ze spectrum zabużeń autystycznych. W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe zasady kształtowania tzw. „Pokoi wyciszeń” coraz częściej lokalizowanych w obiektach użyteczności publicznej.

The growing demand for buildings and public spaces tailored to the needs of this group of people needs to systematize knowledge of architectural design takes into account the needs of people with autism spectrum disorders. The article presents the basic principles of the so-called shaping. “Quiet room”more often localized in public buildings.

The paper presents the application of several different feature selection methods for recognizing the most significant genes and gene sequences (treated as features) stored in dataset of gene expression microarray related to autism. The outcomes of each method have been examined by analyzing gene expression profiles of selected genes. In the next step fusion of the most relevant features selected by different methods, has been implemented. The optimal number of features has been defined as the set providing the best clustering purity.

Praca prezentuje badanie wybranych metod selekcji cech diagnostycznych w celu wyodrębnienia najbardziej znaczących sekwencji genowych z mikromacierzy ekspresji genów dotyczącej autyzmu. Dla wyselekcjonowanych cech przeanalizowano wartości poziomów ekspresji genów. W kolejnym etapie dokonano fuzji wyselekcjonowanych cech. Optymalny zbiór cech wyznaczono na podstawie czystości przestrzeni klasteryzacji.

The Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) is one of the very successful therapies on autistic children. There are no software systems supporting such a complex therapy either in Polish or international ABA rehabilitation centers. This article presents an idea of an integrated system to help managing the vast amount of data collected during behavioral therapy. There are four main modules in the system: a database containing therapy data, system for data analysis based on machine learning techniques, an expert system to support therapist and a semantic based search.

Stosowana analiza behawioralna jest jedną ze skuteczniejszych terapii dla dzieci z autyzmem. Zarówno w Polskich jak i światowych centrach rehabilitacyjnych nie stosuje się systemów oprogramowania, które wspierałby tą skomplikowaną terapię. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje ideę zintegrowanego systemu wspomagającego zarządzenie ogromną ilością danych gromadzonych podczas terapii. W systemie zaplanowano cztery moduły: bazę danych zawierającą dane z terapii, system analizy danych wykorzystujący techniki z maszynowego uczenia się, system ekspertowy dla terapeutów oraz oparty na semantyce.

Every year the prevalence of Autism Spectrum of Disorders (ASD) is rising. Is there a unifying mechanism of various ASD cases at the genetic, molecular, cellular or systems level? The hypothesis advanced in this paper is focused on neural dysfunctions that lead to problems with attention in autistic people. Simulations of attractor neural networks performing cognitive functions help to assess system long-term neurodynamics. The Fuzzy Symbolic Dynamics (FSD) technique is used for the visualization of attractors in the semantic layer of the neural model of reading. Large-scale simulations of brain structures characterized by a high order of complexity requires enormous computational power, especially if biologically motivated neuron models are used to investigate the influence of cellular structure dysfunctions on the network dynamics. Such simulations have to be implemented on computer clusters in a grid-based architectures.
