Utilization of sports infrastructure in Poland

Purpose: Analysis of changes in the level of utilization of sports facilities in Poland in 2010, 2014, 2018. The study of the relationship between the degree of use of sports facilities and their number, the number of inhabitants, as well as expenditure on sports and income from this division according to budget classification. Discussion of selected issues related to the degree of utilization of sports facilities in Poland. Drawing attention to the problem of underutilization of sports facilities. Design/methodology/approach: The level of sports facilities utilization was presented using data from the Central Statistical Office. The canonical analysis method was used to develop detailed analyses. Findings: The use of canonical analysis allowed for determining the relationship between the level of utilization of sports facilities and selected variables. Research limitations/implications: The analysis covered the years 2010, 2014 and 2018 due to the availability of information published by the Central Statistical Office. The level of utilization applies to certain types of objects. Further analyses should include the issue of using outdoor gyms or cycle paths, which are not addressed in this paper. This is not possible from the point of view of the definition of the level of utilization of sports facilities, which cannot be applied to the above-mentioned facilities. Practical implications: Drawing attention to the underutilization of facilities is aimed to optimize their use. Addressing the issues should also stimulate interest in physical activity and raise awareness of deficits in occupancy of sports facilities. Social implications: A higher level of utilization of sports facilities can have a positive impact on the quality of life of inhabitants. Presented considerations may increase the awareness of the underutilization of specific types of facilities. The conclusions from the research may be used in practice and have an impact on increasing the accessibility to sports facilities for the society. Originality/value: The added value of the paper results from the specificity of the research topic it raises. Scientific publications seldom refer to the issue of the use of sports infrastructure. It is a rarely discussed topic. Its universality can be analysed in two aspects. The first concerns the recipients. They can be representatives of Local Government Units who face the problem of the functioning of sports facilities, managers of facilities and everyone from the circle of the broadly perceived sports labor market, but also ordinary users of this type of infrastructure. The second aspect concerns the applied research method, i.e., canonical analysis, which is used in many fields, as indicated in the content of the study. Conclusions from the results of the presented research can be used by all people who have impact on decision-making in the sphere of sports facilities management and the promotion of an active lifestyle.

Nanomateriały zostały z powodzeniem zastosowane w sprzęcie fitness, inteligentnych bieżniach i obiektach sportowych. Potwierdzono odporność na zużycie i korozję, zdolność do samooczyszczania i wysoką czułość nanomateriałów. Technologia nanopowlekania poprawiła odporność na zużycie i trwałość inteligentnego sprzętu fitness. Technologia nanosensoryczna zastosowana w inteligentnych bieżniach zapewniła sportowcom precyzyjne informacje zwrotne dotyczące treningu. Kompleksowe zastosowanie nanotechnologii w inteligentnych obiektach sportowych zaowocowało poprawą sprawności operacyjnej i lepszym doświadczeniem użytkownika.

Nanomaterials were successfully applied in fitness equipment, intelligent runways and sport venues. Wear and corrosion resistance, self-cleaning ability and high sensitivity of nanomaterials were confirmed. The nanocoating technol. improved the wear resistance and longevity of intelligent fitness equipment. In particular, the nanosensing technol. incorporated into intelligent runways provided athletes with precise training feedback. The comprehensive application of nanotechnol. in intelligent sport venues resulted in improving operational efficiency and an enhanced user experience.

The tribunes are a group of sports facilities accompanying many sports facilities of various disciplines. These objects had many types of architectural forms, from small-scale wooden structures, through medium-sized steel structures, to large brick and reinforced concrete structures. The tribunes, depending on the rank of the sports facility, were designed as open or roofed. In some buildings, the function of the audience was combined with the back of sanitary rooms, cloakrooms, cash registers, entrances, restaurants, etc. Many of these buildings played a representative role. The stands built in the interwar period were one of the first facilities of this type. The later projects of the tribunes referred in their function and form to the examples from the Second Polish Republic

Trybuny to zespół obiektów sportowych towarzyszących wielu obiektom sportowym różnych dyscyplin. Obiekty te miały wiele rodzajów form architektonicznych, od niewielkich konstrukcji drewnianych, poprzez średnie konstrukcje stalowe, aż po duże konstrukcje murowane i żelbetowe. Trybuny, w zależności od rangi obiektu sportowego, projektowane były jako otwarte lub zadaszone. W niektórych budynkach funkcję widowni łączono z zapleczem pomieszczeń sanitarnych, szatni, kas, wejść, restauracji itp. Wiele z tych budynków pełniło rolę reprezentacyjną. Budowane w okresie międzywojennym trybuny były jednymi z pierwszych obiektów tego typu. Późniejsze realizacje trybun nawiązywały w swej funkcji i formie do przykładów z II RP.

W sezonie zimowym 2013 przebadano mikrobiologiczną jakość powietrza na terenach krytych kortów tenisowych. Próbki powietrza pobierano mikrobiologicznym próbnikiem MAS-100 Eco. W trakcie badań analizowano również parametry mikroklimatyczne, takie jak temperatura powietrza, wilgotność oraz prędkość wiatru. Ocenę czystości powietrza prowadzono zgodnie z wytycznymi Polskich Norm. W powietrzu wewnątrz hali wykryto bakterie mezofilne, psychrofilne, gronkowce (Staphylococcus), promieniowce (Actinobacteria), Pseudomonas fluorescens oraz grzyby mikroskopowe, których liczebność była zróżnicowana na stanowiskach kortu tenisowego. W niektórych okresach ich liczebność w 1 m3 powietrza była duża i wskazywała na silne mikrobiologiczne zanieczyszczenie powietrza. W środowisku zewnętrznym obok kortów tenisowych powietrze było najczęściej niezanieczyszczone.

In winter 2013 microbiological air quality in areas covered tennis courts was examined. Air samples were collected on the designated positions tennis courts by microbiological sampler MAS-100 (Merck). During the studies were examined also the parameters like air temperature, humidity and wind speed. Clean air assessment was carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Polish Standards. In the air inside were the mesophilic bacteria, psychrophilic bacteria, Staphylococcus, Actinobacteria, Pseudomonas fluorescens and microscopic fungi, whose number was varied at difference points of the tennis court. During certain periods of their abundance in 1 m3 of air was a large what showed strong microbiological air pollution. Outside the covered tennis courts the air was usually not polluted.

The study of a structure’s geometry can be done in order to assess the state of a structure both for its design, stability and safety. In the case of sports facilities, their geometrical parameters have a direct influence on the results achieved on the spot, at the same time the shape of a track creates specific conditions for the kinetics of objects moving on the track. The present article shows measurement problems connected with accurate rendering of the shape of a structure by contemporary geodesic techniques of measurement including laser scanning. Experiments like this may be used in precise measurements assessing shape imperfections of spatial structures and deformations of area structures.

This article describes the state of Poland's preparations for the organization of the Euro 2012 football championship from the angle of sporting structures and roads and highways. The author has presented four modern stadiums in which games will be held, located in four host cities: Warsaw, Gdansk, Poznan, and Wroclaw. From analysis of the status of preparation of structures for the event, it results that all will be ready on time.The situation in the case of construction of roads and highwaysisworse. lt appears that not all road investments will be realized on time, however road workers promise to strive for as many new routes to be serviceable by June of next year.

"Serce miasta" to - parafrazując - miejsce, które "tętni życiem". Bezsprzecznie takim miejscem jest przestrzeń stworzona dla realizacji wydarzeń sportowych. Przestrzeń ta, po pierwsze, służy ludziom - gromadzi sportowców i rzesze kibiców. Często jest także, oprócz swej czytelnej funkcji, ważnym elementem krajobrazu miejskiego. Czasem stanowi nawet ikonę - pomnik w danym mieście czy dzielnicy. Jest wszystkim mieszkańcom znana i łatwo do niej dotrzeć. Do takich obiektów architektonicznych należą budynki hal sportowych, stadiony, nowoczesne obiekty sportu plenerowego, a także place miejskie mające charakter uniwersalny, na których wydarzenia sportowe odbywają się okazjonalnie.

"Heart of the city" is - paraphrasing - a place which is "vibrant with life". Unquestionably, the space created for realization of sports events is such a place. Firstly, this space serves people - it gathers sportsmen and the multitudes of fans. Also it is often, apart from its clear function, an important part of urban landscape. Sometimes it even constitutes an icon - monument in a particular city or a district. It is well-known to all inhabitants and it is easy to reach. Such architectural complexes include buildings of sports halls, stadiums, modern outdoor sports facilities as well as city squares of universal character, where sports events take place occasionally.
