Nuda ma wiele definicji. Przyjmujemy, że nuda to negatywny stan emocjonalny, uczucie przygnębienia i zniechęcenia. Będziemy mówić o zniechęceniu do matematyki u studentów i uczniów liceów ogólnokształcących. Natkniemy się na kilka jej rodzajów. W pracy zbiorowej [1] autorzy opisali pięć rodzajów nudy szkolnej: nuda obojętna, regulacyjna, poszukująca, reaktywna i apatyczna.

Boredom has many definitions. Let’s assume that boredom is a negative emotional state, feeling of depression and discouragement. In this article we say about discouragement towards mathematics among high-school and university students. Professor Thomas Goetz, in his research, described five boredom types: indifferent, calibrating, searching, reactant and apathetic boredom. Are we able to recognize boredom among students and what is its source? To answer this question, we will present results of our research conducted on group of our university and high-school students. 50,26% of students on math classes are not bored and 15,18% experience reactant or apathetic boredom, two most psychologically negative types of boredom. The good practice is to talk to the students about their boredom during math classes. If they are bored, they should point the cause of their boredom. The knowledge about different types of boredom gives us opportunity to bring students out of a negative emotional state. This can be done in few different ways, for example, activating students to action from the beginning of the classes or in the middle of the classes, by pulling them out to talk at the blackboard while they are solving math problems. When they describe their actions, they must use mathematical terminology. To finish the task students must analyze their actions once again and present to the class effects of their work. This kind of “education” leads to the lack of boredom on math classes or minimize this phenomenon.

Animal farming has undergone significant transformation and evolved from small-scale businesses to largescale commercial ventures. While maximizing productivity and profitability has always been a major concern in animal farming, during recent years there has been an increasing rise of concern regarding the welfare of the animals. In this context, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies offers immense potential for monitoring the well-being of chickens on farms and optimizing revenue streams simultaneously. Several works have integrated AI methodologies into everyday animal farming activities. Still, very few (if any) have proposed efficient and practical solutions that may facilitate farm owners in making impactful decisions regarding their business profitability and the welfare of the animals. In this direction, we propose a noninvasive chicken farm monitoring system that relies on onfield sound and video recordings integrated with sensory data acquired from the farm. The system consists of hardware that handles data acquisition and storage, a sensory data collection system and audio/video processing AI models. The last component of the system will be an inference engine that analyzes the collected data and infers useful facts about the flock's welfare and even psychological state.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to present the issue of managing a hospital establishment in the light of two aspects: formal-legal and psychological. Design/methodology/approach: In the first part, the authors focus on defining the issue of mandatory conditions and citing the provisions of law regulating the activities of hospitals in the field of medical staff management. The content of the publication discusses the required qualifications which health professionals are subject to and must be taken into account by the hospital management when employing staff. The issue (formally unregulated) was also raised: motivational systems for medical staff in hospitals which is not mandatory from the point of view of the person managing the hospital, however, according to the authors, is an important factor in effective management of human resources. In the second part of the paper, the topic of effective hospital management is considered from a psychological perspective. Based on Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs, it shows how supporting good relations between medical staff affects the prevalent atmosphere in hospitals. The authors consider the impact of endured stress of medical staff on the level of patient care, detailing the impact of eustress and distress. Findings: The issue of occupational burnout among medical staff employed in hospital and some recommendations are indicated for the unit managing the facility which are to counteract this phenomenon. The publication also focuses on the correlation between empathy felt by medical staff, their attitude towards the patient and the degree of provided care which directly affects the process of treatment and convalescence. Originality/value: There are presented some actions to raise the level of empathy and communication skills of staff and can be implemented by the hospital management unit. It was based on a meta-analysis of the results of various studies and existing sources.

A seafarer’s personality is based on three distinct stages in the psychological development of his/her marine self-concept, including self-esteem, i.e., before his/her maritime studies, during maritime studies, and at the time of professional practice on board. In order to be able to work safely on board, a seafarer should be a leader with the necessary marine self-concept, the formation of which is a didactic mission of the MET institutions. The psychological internalization of the marine self-concept of future seafarers, as a value, is analyzed in the pilot study on a cognitive, emotional, and behavioral level with regard to the stages mentioned. Before studying seafaring young people perceive the sea in the direction of recreation and spiritual knowledge. The self-esteem of those who do not raise questions of self-knowledge is not strong. During their studies, maritime students seek professional meaning for themselves in respect of the sea. Their academic feelings are positive, their activities are more mature, and their self-esteem improves. The marine self-concept of the future seafarers during their professional practice on board is dynamic, as they get to know themselves and their suitability for work, try out things and achieve their own professional goals. They feel contentment, pride, and self-worth, as well as safety-related aspirations. Their activities become more appropriate and reliable, and their self-esteem is improved.

Content available remote Multiple Criteria Decision Aiding by Constructive Preference Learning
EN
The notion of preference is relevant across a variety of scientific disciplines, including economics and social sciences, operations research and decision sciences, artificial intelligence, psychology, and philosophy. Preferences provide a means for specifying desires in a declarative and intelligible way, a key element for the effective representation of knowledge and reasoning respecting the value systems of Decision Makers (DMs) [1].

Love is a complex phenomenon that is hard to describe considering only one perspective. To describe it, it is necessary both to take the help of science and to approach the problem from the socio-psychological side. Using the knowledge acquired through the eternal search for a solution to the riddle that is the human body, we can see that the concept of love is usually associated with specific hormones and neurotransmitters found in the body, such as oxytocin, vasopressin, dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, endorphins, and sex hormones. These substances are responsible for regulating our emotional states, as well as the formation of bonds. On the one hand, without hormonal stimuli it would be impossible to produce the feelings that are associated with love, and on the other hand, without socio-psychological factors we would not know what love really is. This phenomenon has many cases that do not fit into a purely scientific scheme and could only be explained using chemical reactions. Often the appearance of feeling is accompanied by the specific situation in which the person finds themself. Love is influenced by both the psychological state unique to the individual and the environment in which he functions.

Nowadays, customer acquisition is an open issue that has a special interest in all companies over the world. Very different marketing campaigns using psychological methodologies are designed to address this issue. However, once a campaign is launched, it is highly complicated to detect which sets of customers are most likely to purchase an offered product. This fact is a key objective since it allows companies to focus their efforts on specific clients and discard others. Several selection techniques have been implemented but most of them are usually very demanding in terms of time and human resources for the companies. Artificial Intelligence techniques appear to help simplifying the process. Thus, companies have started to use Machine Learning (ML) models trained to efficiently detect those clients with certain proneness to purchase. In this sense, this paper presents a novel purchase propensity detection ML system based on the Sentiment Analysis techniques able to consider the customer comments regarding the offered products. The tourist domain has been selected for the case study, where the obtained product was successfully embedded in an initial prototype.

This study interrogated the relevance of maritime education and training (MET) at the secondary level as an effective strategy for developing a sustainable supply of maritime labour and to mitigate current and future supply-demand imbalances arising from philosophical and sociological changes in society and in the maritime industry. Secondary education and its associated curriculum may be developed to form the underlying fundamentals of early awareness of maritime concepts targeted at youth of ages 11-18 years. To find answers to five research questions relating to this topic, a mixed method approach was applied in collecting and analysing data. The findings indicate strong evidence of the importance and relevance of MET at the secondary level. They further show this importance as it relates to an appreciation by the youth of the maritime industry as a domain for technical career options and to the creation of a sense of stewardship of the world’s oceans. Despite these positive findings, the study also finds that a number of key stakeholders are unaware of the potential and role of the maritime industry leading to a notable barrier to the implementation of MET at the secondary level and a lack of the necessary rigour and focus on promoting the industry to the youth via MET in secondary education. The study concludes by noting that there is a need for a focus on reforming the curricula of national secondary education system, where appropriate, as a first step towards the achieving the benefits of implementation of MET at the secondary level.

The research is an insightful exploration into what contributes to the deterioration of seafarers’ wellbeing. It unveils the determinant factors and their impact on wellbeing, further exploring the perception and awareness levels of the maritime society on the issue. Moreover, the effectiveness of main regulatory instruments to address seafarers’ wellbeing is analysed and discussed. Qualitative methodology based on semi-structured interviews and content analysis was applied. Twenty-six active seafarers of different nationalities and working on different types of vessels, one pilot and 11 influential maritime stakeholders of the industry were interviewed. The literature review shows that wellbeing can only be fully understood when considering its physical, mental and social dimensions, and emphasizing its significance the workplace. However, the study indicates that despite high awareness of such dimensions and determinant factors of wellbeing, the psychosocial working conditions provided by shipowners onboard ships are not in full compliance with a holistic view of wellbeing. Moreover, shipping companies lack promotion and training on awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues onboard ships and how to handle them, as the existing safety management system is based on incident and accident reduction principles. Results expose excessive workload and lack of sleep (as a result of reduced manning) as major contributors to fatigue further causing deterioration of seafarers’ wellbeing. Other revealed factors include long contracts, lack of shore leave, unavailability of recreational facilities and internet connection, lack of onboard socialising, fear of job loss and stress/anxiety. The regulatory instrument MLC 2006 sets out basic seafarers’ rights but does not fully capture their wellbeing to its fullest. Seafarers’ wellbeing is unlikely to improve unless awareness of the concept of wellbeing is installed within the SMS and all of its dimensions are well addressed in future amendments of the regulatory instruments.

Technological progress on the battlefield and the evaluation of the tactics of soldiers' actions entail a change in the philosophy of human resource management in military institutions, and thus a reorientation in the preparation of commanders-leaders to perform this mission. The modern soldier represents a different level of psychophysical resources. The new, more precise and at the same time more complicated to use equipment forces a change in the concept of preparing a soldier to perform tasks. Directing the development of the contemporary battlefield forces the continuous expansion of the cognitive level, both in the general and specialist area. This new approach to soldier formation shifts the centre of gravity in leadership formation to the area of cognitive resource development. This changes the emphasis of training and education towards the theory of social communication underlying the creation of psychophysical resources and issues related to the contemporary psychology of management in the military environment.

This paper compares the representations of spaces made by Christopher Alexander, Rudolf Arnheim, and Yoshinobu Ashihara. Their common feature is the use of the concepts of "positive space" and "negative space" formulated on the basis of phenomena drawn from Gestalt psychology. The literature analysis does not indicate the development of uniform definitions of these terms. Positive and negative space is defined in relation to the geometric properties of the urban layout, its functionality, as well as the characteristics of its perception by the observer and even the factor of the designer's creative intention.

The article presents definitions of and approaches to the concept of safety in order to confirm the subjective character of its determination, description, and interpretation. By presenting examples of security statistics and safety-related behaviours, its ambiguity and complexity are revealed. The author draws attention to the media’s attitude towards safety-related incidents. With reference to contemporary scientific knowledge about the methods of improving safety in transportation organizations, the author also suggests that safety improvement initiatives should focus more strongly on facilitating closer cooperation between leaders, superiors and subordinates with different levels of experience.
