Creation of worker-owned companies should be considered an important social-economic phenomena within the framework of systemic changes that take place in Poland. The large scale is what is decisive for its importance, but it is also the fact that in case of those entities the employees' property has much more active character than it does in companies created by means of other privatisation methods. The objective of this article is to try to evaluate the financial condition of worker-owned companies in the Zachodniopomorskie region. In order to meet this objective, the author used the results of empirical research carried out in 39 worker-owned companies from the moment they were established until the end of the year 2003. There will be also presented the process of secondary privatisation (changes in the ownership structure) taking place in the analysed entities.
