This paper presents decision problems which occur in designing database architecture for the assessment of logistics services. In the work, it was emphasized that the key stages in database design is to define a database model comprising a set of rules that characterize the structure of data in the database and a list of operations that can be performed on the data entered into the database. Research presented in the article is conducted as part of the project on the European Portal of Logistics Services (EPLOS) implemented on the basis of an agreement with the National Center for Research and Development under the EUREKA program. As part of the research carried out as part of the project, the principles of functioning of distributed architecture were developed and evaluated for the services offered by carriers or logistics operators operating on the international market. These include operators providing air services, international road, intermodal, sea transports, etc. The article indicates that the purpose of the database responsible for processing information in cargo intermodal connections is not only to collect input data on aviation and road infrastructure, but also to save the results generated by computational modules. At work, the modular database structure for assessing logistics services consisting of among others from dynamic data module, archive module, data entry module, optimization algorithm calibration module was proposed. Catalog structure and rules for supplying the database with data on the example of a railway operator were presented in detail.

Purpose: An analysis of the of electronic transport exchanges functioning and the prospects for their development regarding the development of IT technology and the development of transport needs. Design/methodology/approach: An extensive literature and functional analysis of electronic transport exchanges was carried out. Based on this prospective directions of further development for this form of contracting services were identified. Findings: Electronic freight exchanges promote the efficient and effective exchange of information, increase the quality of services and shape logistical cooperation and partnerships throughout the supply chain. The key factors determining the introduction of freight exchanges were identified. Also crucial aspect of the functioning of electronic freight exchanges were set out and they are to ensure the security of transactions and reliability of cooperating partners. Research limitations/implications: The analyses carried out are still ongoing and require further research among users of electronic transport exchanges. Practical implications: The presented results may affect further research on the use of electronic transport exchanges, especially in the activity of freight forwarders. At the same time, they indicate the main limitations related to participation in electronic platforms. Originality/value The article presents the mechanisms of functioning of electronic transport exchanges and indicates the main challenges related to their use in business.

Wartość usług outsourcingowych w Polsce w 2019 roku wyniosła 4 mld zł, a zatrudnienie w sektorze usług wspólnych przekroczyło 170 tys. osób. Delegowanie niekluczowych funkcji działalności przedsiębiorstwa na dobre zakorzeniło się w naszej gospodarce. Celem artykułu jest przegląd obecnie stosowanych koncepcji budowania relacji na rynku oraz przedstawienie możliwości wykorzystania kontraktu Vested jako narzędzia do transformacji relacji biznesowych.

In the last decade, outsourcing is being a game changer on the market, taking over a significant role in shaping relationships between enterprises and their business models. Outsourcing sector in Poland 2019 crossed value of PLN 4 billion, employment ratio in shared service activities exceeded 170 k. employees. The adaptation to delegate non-core business functions have settled in market. The aim of the article is to analyze current concepts of building relationships existing in the market and to present the possibility of using the Vested model as a tool for transforming business relationships.

The article presents a statistical analysis of storage services carried out in Poland in 2006–2015. The aim of the article is to assess the level of implementation of these services and attempt to identify the causes of the current state. The analyzes of dynamics and the trend of changes on the warehouse market were compared to the level of GDP in Poland. Statistical methods were used as a research method. The analyzes carried out allowed obtaining information on the current state and efficiency of warehouse services in Poland.

W artykule dokonano analizy statystycznej usług magazynowych realizowanych w Polsce w latach 2006–2015. Celem artykułu jest ocena poziomu realizacji tych usług oraz próba określenia przyczyn obecnego stanu. Przeprowadzone analizy dynamiki oraz trendu zmian na rynku magazynowym przyrównano do poziomu PKB w Polsce. Jako metodę badawczą wykorzystano metody statystyczne. Przeprowadzone analizy pozwoliły na uzyskanie informacji o obecnym stanie i efektywności usług magazynowych w Polsce.

Usługi logistyczne są ważnym elementem szybko rozwożącej się gospodarki i wymianie handlowej pomiędzy Unią Europejską a krajami Azjatyckimi. Rynek TSL rozwija się w Polsce bardzo dynamicznie rosną przewozy towarów jednak udział w nim transportu kolejowego z roku na rok maleje. Klienci rynku TSL (Transportowo-Spedycyjno-Logistycznego) oczekują kompleksowej obsługi logistycznej przez jednego partnera. Transport kolejowy dla odzyskania części ryku powinien rozszerzać zakres świadczonych usług oraz stwarzać warunki dla rozwoju przewozów intermodalnych, ale także takich segmentów przewozu jak przewozy rozproszone czy materiałów niebezpiecznych. Oprócz zmian organizacyjnych niezbędnym elementem pozyskania klientów jest dedykowana infrastruktura przeładunkowa.

Logistics services are an important element of a fast-moving economy and trade between the European Union and Asian countries. The TSL market is developing in Poland, goods transport is growing rapidly, however, the share of rail transport in it is decreasing every year. Customers of the TSL (Transport and Shipping and Logistics) market expect comprehensive logistics services from one partner. Rail transport to recover the part of the roam should expand the scope of services provided and create conditions for the development of intermodal transport, but also such segments of transport as dispersed transport or hazardous materials. In addition to organizational changes, a dedicated reloading infrastructure is an indispensable element of acquiring customers.

The paper presents selected financial benefits for organizations resulting from the use of outsourcing in logistics services. The research conducted in the organization indicated that conducting transport services on their own requires significant cash outlays related to: the employment of employees, purchase and maintenance of means of transport, insurance, purchase of fuel, etc. Estimated costs were compared with expenses incurred by the hypermarket as a result of employing an outsourcing company. The results of the research have confirmed the importance of using outsourcing in the analyzed organization. The aim of the study is to compare the costs that the organization would incur without excluding transportation services and the outsourcing costs of the aforementioned services, the profit of a company can have from using outsourced services is estimated in the paper.

W trakcie organizacji zabezpieczenia logistycznego podmioty ratownicze zmagają się z dużą ilością osób poszkodowanych, presją czasu, a także często z ekstremalnymi warunkami. Wymusza to potrzebę użycia wszelkich dostępnych w tym czasie sił i środków. Niezwykle ważnym elementem zabezpieczenia logistycznego jest utrzymanie zasobów będących w dyspozycji działania, racjonalnie gospodarowanych. Wiele metod działania w takich sytuacjach zaczerpnięto z rozwiązań stosowanych w systemach militarnych. Rozwiązania te przedstawiają się w integracji działań, występujących w ciągu całego łańcucha logistycznego, w którym prze-mieszczają są środki zaopatrzeniowe oraz usługi na rzecz zabezpieczenia logistycznego. Każde takie działania mają na celu dążenia do stworzenia optymalnych warunków, w których dostarczenie towarów i świadczenie usług w odpowiednich ilościach, wystarczającej jakości, w jak najkrótszym czasie zminimalizuje skutki powstałego zagrożenia.

During the organization of logistic security, rescue entities struggle with a large number of people injured, time pressure, and often with extreme conditions. This forces the need to use all available forces and means available at that time. An extremely important element of logistic security is the maintenance of resources at the disposal of rationally managed activities. Many methods of action in such situations were taken from solutions used in military systems. These solutions are presented in the integration of activities occurring throughout the entire logistics chain, in which they move supply and services for logistics security. Each of these activities is aimed at striving to create optimal conditions in which the supply of goods and the provision of services in appropriate quantities, of sufficient quality, in the shortest possible time will minimize the effects of the threat.

W końcowej części przedstawiono wyniki z przeprowadzonych badań. W podsumowaniu odniesiono się do stopnia zrealizowania przyjętych celów artykułu oraz sformułowano wnioski końcowe.

The article presents one of the functioning business entities providing logistics services in which, after identifying the storage system, an analysis of its security level was carried out. The main part of the study is the proposed procedure for conducting the analysis of the level of security of the storage system in this entity. The final part presents the results from conducted research. The summary refers to the degree of achievement of the adopted objectives of the article and formulates the final conclusions.

Celem niniejszego artykułu było przedstawienie przykładu analizy strategii różnicowania usług jednego z największych operatorów logistycznych funkcjonujących na rynku polskich poprzez dopasowanie elementów portfela usług do pozycji strategicznej w macierzy McKinseya. W opracowaniu przedstawiono najważniejsze cechy strategii opartej o różnicowanie cech produktu lub usługi. Następnie dokonano analizy rynku TSL w oparciu o ranking i wyniki z 2017 r. W kolejnej części dokonano analizy portfela usług największego operatora usług logistycznych. Dokonano także klasyfikacji usług według macierzy McKinseya poprzez ocenę atrakcyjności sektora i ocenę konkurencyjności usług analizowanego podmiotu, co dało możliwość ulokowania usług w polach strategii wzrostu i podtrzymania.

The purpose of this article was to provide an example of an analysis of the strategy for diversifying services of one of the largest logistics operators operating on the Polish market by matching elements of the service portfolio to a strategic position in the McKinsey matrix. The paper presents the most important features of a strategy based on differentiating product or service features. Then, the transport, forwarding and logistics market was analyzed based on the ranking and results from 2017. In the next part, the portfolio of services of the largest logistics service operator was analyzed. The services were also classified according to the McKinsey matrix by assessing the attractiveness of the sector and assessing the competitiveness of the services of the analyzed entity, which gave the opportunity to locate services in the fields of growth and support strategy.

Nowadays, companies offer various logistics services to their customers. Diversity of these services is essential for business. The range of services that logistics companies cover depends on various factors; it can be solely transport, but can also be a complex service that includes organisation of raw materials delivery, warehousing, delivery of finished goods to customers and dealing with documents like invoices, waybills and others. The increasing popularity of logistics in services is noticeable. This is connected with global changes. This is a complex phenomenon that connects aspects and features of services and logistics. The three most important areas for logistics in services are: minimisation of waiting time, management of service potential and service delivery. The goal of this article is to reveal the difference between these two subjects and review the literature connected with them. The main conclusions are that logistics services can be seen as belonging to logistics in the services phenomenon. In every area of logistics in services, three phases can be distinguished: supply, production and sales. Germany has the leading position in Europe when it comes to the logistics services market. Dynamic changes in logistics have led to the development of a new classification of logistics enterprises. The European Commission is analysing changes in the sector in order to prepare new strategic objectives.

Mając na uwadze korzystne tendencje wzrostu przeładunków w naszych portach oraz coraz większe zatłoczenie dróg, wydaje się uzasadnione, aby na kierunku północ-południe w większym – niż obecnie – stopniu wykorzystywać transport kolejowy. Wydatki poniesione na ewentualną modernizację linii kolejowych czy też modernizację lub budowę nowych terminali, są nieporównywalnie niższe do tych, jakie trzeba byłoby ponieść na dostosowanie i budowę nowych dróg, mogących zapewnić właściwą obsługę transportową naszych portów. Nie bez znaczenia jest również ochrona naszego środowiska naturalnego.

The aim of this paper is to elaborate whether there are any needs and possibilities of quality measurement in logistic services provided for the Polish Armed Forces. In order to answer this problem firstly the Polish Armed Forces Logistic System has been described as a logistic services provider. Then the quality areas of the logistic services provided for the armed forces have been identified. Subsequently the author tried to evaluate already implemented solutions for logistic services quality assurance in the light of service quality measurement methods. Finally there has been an attempt made to propose the choice of proper quality measurement methods for selected logistic services provided for the Polish Armed Forces.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ocena potrzeb i możliwości pomiaru jakości usług logistycznych świadczonych Siłom Zbrojnym Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej (SZ RP). W pierwszej kolejności opisano system funkcjonalny logistyki SZ RP jako usługodawcę. Następnie zidentyfikowano płaszczyzny jakościowe usług logistycznych dostarczanych wojskom. Autor dokonał również próby oceny stosowanych obecnie systemowych rozwiązań zapewnienia jakości w świetle metod pomiaru jakości usług. Na koniec zaproponowano wariant doboru metod pomiaru jakości dla wybranych usług logistycznych świadczonych dla SZ RP.
