Purpose: The purpose of this article is to analyze the prospects of cooperation between universities and the business world on the example of training courses implemented within the framework of a project funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW). The paper presents the objectives, nature, and importance of business education projects that affect the form of university-business cooperation. Design/methodology/approach: The article presents the barriers and advantages, that is, the factors determining the cooperation between the university and business. The study is based on the results of a survey of the target group participating in training courses, a literature review and focus interviews. Findings: The conducted research allowed to analyze the main barriers to cooperation between universities and businesses and identify measures to improve the efficiency of technology transfer and commercialization of innovations within educational projects. Research limitations/implications: The results of this work can become an incentive to undertake further research on the cooperation between universities and business. The study has certain limitations, resulting mainly from a small research group (32 people), however, it provides valuable feedback on the benefits of cooperation for recipients. Practical implications: The results can be used to develop educational activities aimed at forming an academic ecosystem of startups and increasing the effectiveness of cooperation between universities and business in the framework of scientific projects. Social implications: The implementation of research results will contribute to improving the level of education and employment of the population. Originality/value: As a result of the research, it was found that the implementation of business education projects can become a driver for the development of university startups and increase the interest of university employees in cooperation with business.

Purpose: The aim of this paper is to investigate the possibility of using the concept of "Partners in Education" as a solution for preparing the students to successfully enter the workforce. Design/methodology/approach: Desk Research Method and survey are used. Paper is based on Partners in Education’s documents (local non-profit organization) and results of empirical research. Findings: The study includes the review of the results of empirical research carried out in Poland, which indicated the existence of competence gaps of graduates from technical universities. The study also indicated the need to constantly monitor the competence gaps and correct the education programs on this basis. One of the tools to improve the process of updating curricula may be the practice used in the USA. Originality/value: The main goal of any system of education in any region is to prepare students to successfully enter the workforce. At the present time, the economy is changing rapidly. The educational and training needs are constantly changing. The authors pointed to a good practice used in the USA, as an example of a solution for preparing the students to successfully enter the workforce.

Purpose: The objective of the study was to identify factors determining the pursuit of cooperation between universities and enterprises, and to evaluate the significance of the cooperation in the regional context. Design/methodology/approach: Empirical studies were conducted in 2019 by means of a case study method. The review of literature and available documentation enabled an interview questionnaire to be developed. Individual interviews were conducted in May 2019 with several people responsible for university-business cooperation in Lublin region. Findings: The results of the study indicated a significant impact of university-business cooperation upon the development of the region. Originality/value: The subject matter of the present paper pertains to university-business cooperation in Lublin region. The region is relatively low on industrialization. However, due to several universities and colleges located in the region, strong academic potential is available.

University and business cooperation offers many benefits not only for the parties involved. It translates into innovation and competitiveness of the economy. The relationship encounters many barriers that are related to the environment (both internal and external) in which it is implemented. The aim of the article is to identify the determinants of university-business cooperation (areas of cooperation, barriers, motivations) and to point out recommendations from the perspective of scientists in Poland and the United States (USA). The experience of USA researchers can be used as a background for considerations about cooperation between universities and business in Poland, and as an example of good practices for the purpose of supporting and improving the analyzed relationships. The article focuses on selected determinants of university and business cooperation: areas of cooperation, barriers limiting it, motivations for cooperation and the possible options for its improvement (recommendations of researchers). In order to achieve the assumed goals, an individual, in-depth interview was conducted with the use of a questionnaire as the research tool. The presented results of the research showed significant differences between the models of university and business cooperation in Poland and the USA.

The paper presents the issue of lack of university-business cooperation. Theoretical attention was put into E-Business definition, Problem Based Learning at Lodz University of Technology and European Union Research focused on higher education institution and company’s relationship in Poland. In the article the solution for communication improvement was introduced. The innovative platform placed on a university website was described. Such platform will help to establish new relationships and extend existing ones.

W artykule przedstawiono problem braku współpracy uniwersyteckiej i biznesowej. Teoretyczną uwagę poświęcono definicji firmy E-Business – nauczaniu opartemu na problemach na Politechnice Łódzkiej oraz badaniu Unii Europejskiej poświęconemu instytucjom szkolnictwa wyższego i relacjach z firmą w Polsce. W artykule wprowadzono rozwiązanie poprawy komunikacji. Opisano innowacyjną platformę umieszczoną na stronie internetowej uczelni. Taka platforma pomoże nawiązać nowe relacje i rozszerzyć istniejące.
