The dynamics of river sediment transport reflects morphogenetic processes taking place in the catchment, being at the same time an anthropogenic indicator. The aim of the research is to determine the impact of hydrotechnical structures on the continuity of suspended sediments transport. The research area is the Lower Vistula River with a single dam – Wloclawek, operating since the 1970s. The research included direct measurements of water turbidity in 2013–2016 in characteristic cross-sections of the Vistula River, using commonly used methods. The LISST-25X laser grain composition measurement sensor was also used to collect data, enabling determination of grain size of the suspended sediments. However, on the selected section of the river, modelling of momentary transport of suspended sediments using GIS tools was carried out. There was a significant dynamics of sediments transport in the longitudinal profile of the river, in relation to the diversity of hydrological and morphological conditions of the Vistula River. The impact of Wloclawek Reservoir on water turbidity reduction was determined. The balance of transport of suspended material was related to the processes of erosion and sediment accumulation below the dam. The functioning of the Wloclawek Reservoir in the current system (as a single dam) has a significant impact on sediment transport, which directly determines the course of fluvial processes across the entire Lower Vistula (from km 675 to the estuary) and indirectly in the coastal zone of the Baltic Sea.

Biofilm na powierzchniach kontaktujących się z wodą w instalacjach wodociągowych jest miejscem, w którym namnażają się bakterie Legionella oraz które chroni bakterie przed działaniom środków dezynfekujących. Zapobieganie powstawaniu biofilmu lub jego usuwanie jest kluczowym zagadnieniem w ochronie przed legionelozą. W artykule omówiono czynniki, które mają wpływ na tworzenie biofilmu w instalacjach wodociągowych. Przedstawiono metodę oceny zanieczyszczenia powierzchni kontaktującej się z wodą w instalacji biofilmem, obrostami biologicznymi na podstawie pomiarów mętności wody. Na przykładzie wyników badań instalacji ciepłej wody użytkowej pokazano wykorzystanie metody do identyfikacji w warunkach eksploatacyjnych czynników, które mają decydujący wpływ na tworzenie się biofilmu/obrostów biologicznych i pośrednio na namnażanie się bakterii Legionella.

Biofilm located on the surfaces in contact with water in water supply systems is a place, in which Legionella bacteria poliferation and which protects bacteria from the action from disinfectants. Preventing creation of biofilm and / or its removing is the key issue in prevention from legionellosis. The paper discusses the lac factors that affect formation of biofilm in water supply systems. A method of evaluation the contamination of surface in contact with water in biofilm/biological biofilm based on measurements of water turbidity was presented. Based on the results of hot water system study, showing the usage of method for factors identification in operating conditions, which have decisive influence for biofilm/biological biofilm formation and indirectly on the poliferation of Legionella bacteria.

Due to Poland became a member of The European Union our laws were supposed to be accommodate to the regulations of the EU. This paper verify the different units of turbidity are equal and try to find out any relations between most popular ones. This paper contains a chek test of the foliowing turbidity units: mg/dm3, NTU - Nephelometric Turbidity Units, FAU - Formazin Attenuation Units (range 0-25 mg/dm3). On the grounds of examinations it was found that the equal between that units does not exist. It was also discowered that value of 1 NTU unit respond to 0.7 mg/dm3 (K = 860 nm). It is not recommended using units of turbidity from different method of measurement (different length of the lights wave). Relations of this both units measured in similar length light wave is high enough to accept this function (Person’s coefficient R2 is bigger than 0.81).
