A method of electromagnetic parameter estimation of the Synchronous machine circuital mathematical models has been presented in this paper. This method is based on the approximation procedure of amplitude characteristics of spectral inductances calculated by finite element method. The approximating functions that determines the circuital model spectral inductances, are expressed directly by RL equivalent circuit parameters of the machine (eqn. 2). The approximation of the spectral inductances has been performed as a minimisation of the objective function expressed by the mean square error (eqn. 4a,b) between reference Spectral inductances (calculated by finite element method) and the equivalent spectral inductances (2). A genetic algorithm has been used for the approximation, which does not require to predict appropriate initial values of parameters (starting point) but requires determining of a search area oniy. It is remarkable advantage of the genetic algorithm in comparison with gradient algorithms (e.g. Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm commoniy used in similar applications). Calculations has been made for the generator of 200 MW. Magnitude and phase characteristics of the spectral inductances calculated by finite element method and calculated for nd=2, nq,=l, 2, 3 circuital models are shown in Fig. 3. Errors between characterstics calculated from 7 are shown in Fig. 4. The approximation results of the generator Spectral transfer functions are given in the Table 1. Expressing of the circuital model Spectral inductances directly by equivalent circuit parameters RL instead of corresponding time constants (l, 4], eliminates indirect stage of calculating RL parameters from these time constants. However in this case, the approximation procedurę is complicated by more complex and nonlinear dependence of approximating functions on parameters to be searched.

Field-circuit mathematical models of the Synchronous machine in the time and frequency domain has been | presented in this paper. In these models appears mutual relations between circuital equations of the machine windings and electroinagnetic field equations inside the machine. Figure l illustrates the field-circuit model in the time domain. Considerable attention is paid to descriptions of the field-circuit model in the frequency domain, which is expressed by spectral transfer functions. Such model is formulated for the linear magnetic circuit and for the constant rotor speed (eqn. 4), or for smali disturbances about the steady state working point (eqn. 5). The spectral inductances (6) occuring in this model has been determined from the spatial magnetic fieid distributions within the machine, calculated by finite element method. Frequency characteristics of spectral inductances calculated for 20C MW turbogenerator has been shown in Fig. 5. Main application areas of the field-circuit model in the frequency domain has been presented in Fig. 6. These applications includes time-domain investigations (using inverse Fourier transform) as well as frequency-domain investigations (e. g. analysis of synchronising and damping ton]us coefficients). Another application of field-circuit model of synchronous machine is the synthesis of circuital model equivalent circuits and determining their parameters.
