W artykule podjęto próbę uporządkowania niektórych pojęć spotykanych w praktyce eksploatacyjnej i diagnostycznej. Główną uwagę skupiono na pojęciach: stan techniczny, stan funkcjonalny, diagnozowanie stanu technicznego, diagnozowanie stanu funkcjonalnego, niepewność diagnozy. Omówiono różnice między diagnozowaniem sondującym a dozorowaniem stanu. Sformułowano wymagania odnośnie do struktury obiektu eksploatacji (np. systemu antropotechnicznego) oraz procedur diagnozowania i dozorowania w aspekcie zdatności zadaniowej systemu eksploatacji.

In the article, an attempt was made to arrange concepts found during exploitive and diagnostic practice. The article focused on the following: the technical state, the functional state, the troubleshooting of the technical state, the troubleshooting of the functional state, and the uncertainty of the diagnosis. The differences between troubleshooting and supervising of the state of an object were discussed. The requirements in relation to the structures of the object of exploitations (e.g. of the human engineering system) and procedures of the troubleshooting and supervising in the aspect of the assignment applicability of the system of the exploitation were formulated.
