In time Petri nets (TPNs), time and control are tightly connected: time measurement for a transition starts only when all resources needed to fire it are available. Further, upper bounds on duration of enabledness can force transitions to fire (this is called urgency). For many systems, one wants to decouple control and time, i.e. start measuring time as soon as a part of the preset of a transition is filled, and fire it after some delay and when all needed resources are available. This paper considers an extension of TPN called waiting nets that dissociates time measurement and control. Their semantics allows time measurement to start with incomplete presets, and can ignore urgency when upper bounds of intervals are reached but all resources needed to fire are not yet available. Firing of a transition is then allowed as soon as missing resources are available. It is known that extending bounded TPNs with stopwatches leads to undecidability. Our extension is weaker, and we show how to compute a finite state class graph for bounded waiting nets, yielding decidability of reachability and coverability. We then compare expressiveness of waiting nets with that of other models w.r.t. timed language equivalence, and show that they are strictly more expressive than TPNs.

Ichthyosaurs were a successful group of marine reptiles with an extensive fossil record and a wide geographic distribution. Many of their most spectacular fossilsome from the Lower Jurassic deposits of the Posidonia Shale in southwestern Germany. The most common ichthyosaur genus from this unit is Stenopterygius. Two ichthyosaur specimens from the Posidonia Shale in the collections of the University of Wrocław were originally classified as belonging to species currently included within the genera Ichthyosaurus and Leptonectes, previously unreported from the Posidonia Shale. However, our qualitative and quantitative analyses suggest that the original taxonomic assignments of these specimens were incorrect and both of them represent indeterminate species of Stenopterygius.

Cryptophytes, to which the Pyrenomonadaceae family belongs, are interesting organisms that occur almost allover the world and they are an important element of trophic chains in many ecosystems. The development of research methods and techniques, including electron microscopy and molecular studies, allowed for a better understanding of taxonomic relationships in this group of organisms. The Pyrenomonadaceae family currently includes three genera: Rhodomonas, Rhinomonas, and Storeatula, but their validityis being debated in the light of the latest data. The state of knowledge and the problems faced in the taxonomic revision of this family of cryptophytes are summarized in this article.

In the era of internet access, recommender systems try to alleviate the difficulty consumers face while trying to find items (e.g. services, products, or information) that better match their needs. To do so, a recommender system selects and proposes (possibly unknown) items that may be of interest to some candidate consumer, by predicting her/his preference for this item. Given the diversity of needs between consumers and the enormous variety of items to be recommended, a large set of approaches have been proposed by the research community. This paper provides a review of the approaches proposed in the entire research area of content-based recommender systems, and not only in one part of it. To facilitate understanding, we provide a categorization of each approach based on the tools and techniques employed, which results to the main contribution of this paper, a content-based recommender systems taxonomy. This way, the reader acquires a quick and complete understanding of this research area. Finally, we provide a comparison of content-based recommender systems according to their ability to efficiently handle well-known drawbacks.

Przeprowadzone w 2021 r. przez „Energopomiar” Sp. z o.o. wśród elektrociepłowni zawodowych i przemysłowych oraz ciepłowni badanie ankietowe pokazało, jak dużym zainteresowaniem cieszy się w Polsce wdrożenie technologii jądrowych. Zastosowanie reaktorów skali małej (SMR – Small Modular Reactor) i mikro (MMR – Micro Modular Reactor) jest postrzegane jako sposób na rezygnację ze spalania paliw kopalnych (dekarbonizacja) i dążenie do osiągnięcia neutralności klimatycznej. Perspektywa zastosowania technologii jądrowych w ciepłownictwie wydaje się jednak na chwilę obecną raczej odległa, stąd też poszczególne przedsiębiorstwa szukają rozwiązań dostępnych aktualnie na rynku.

Among the rich dinoflagellate cyst assemblages recovered from the upper Campanian-lowermost Maastrichtian succession of the Middle Vistula River section (central Poland), four taxa (Callaiosphaeridium bicoronatum, Odontochitina dilatata, Oligosphaeridium araneum and Samlandia paucitabulata) have been described as new. An analysis of the distribution of particular dinoflagellate cyst taxa enabled the development of a highly resolved biostratigraphic framework, calibrated against other biozonal schemes (based, among others, on inoceramid bivalves, ammonites and belemnites), formerly established for the succession. A comparison of the Middle Vistula River record with the dinoflagellate cyst ranges documented in other European successions enabled correlations with selected sections in Belgium, the Netherlands, southern Germany and northern Italy, and with the Campanian/Maastrichtian boundary stratotype section in Tercis les Bains, southwest France. A palaeoecological analysis of the dino- flagellate cyst assemblages and of other components of phytoplankton communities revealed a well-defined trend in sea-level fluctuations (likely of eustatic origin), and palaeoclimatic changes probably related to the latest Cretaceous cooling episode, as observed elsewhere.

Deklaracje środowiskowe wyrobów budowlanych stanowią coraz bogatsze, powszechnie dostępne źródło danych o ich charakterystyce środowiskowej. Silny impuls do ich wydawania wynika z potrzeby potwierdzenia statusu zrównoważonych środowiskowo inwestycji lub działalności gospodarczej w ramach taksonomii UE oraz potrzeby określania charakterystyki środowiskowej obiektów budowlanych. Biorąc pod uwagę szeroki zakres aspektów zrównoważonego budownictwa i konieczność uwzględniania wielu danych, istnieje wciąż potrzeba dalszego rozwoju algorytmów projektowania. Zastosowanie BIM może znacznie zwiększyć możliwości wykorzystania m.in. danych z deklaracji, szczególnie w wielokryterialnej optymalizacji i identyfikacji zestawów rozwiązań technicznych zapewniających najkorzystniejsze właściwości użytkowe obiektów, przy najmniejszym oddziaływaniu środowiskowym oraz najniższych łącznych kosztach inwestycyjnych i eksploatacyjnych.

Environmental declarations of construction products are an increasingly rich, widely available source of data on their environmental characteristics. A strong impulse to issue them results from the need to confirm the status of environmentally sustainable investments or economic activities within the EU taxonomy and the need to determine the environmental performance of buildings. Considering the wide range of aspects of sustainable construction and the need to take into account a lot of data, there is still a need for further development of design algorithms. The use of BIM can significantly increase the possibilities of using e.g. data from declarations, especially in multi-criteria optimization and identification of sets of technical solutions ensuring the best functional properties of facilities, with the lowest environmental impact and the lowest total investment and operating costs.

This article is a further one in an unintended series concerning the design of diving technology [1,2,3]. It contains answers to questions raised by readers upon reading previous articles and by users of the systems described therein by way of example. The articles also refer to the discussion held at the annual NATO Working Group meeting on the various types of decompression presented by the Polish side [4,5,6,7]. The previous articles were linked to the acceptance of the results of the project No. DOB-BIO8/О9/О1/2016 carried out under the contract with the NCBiR National Centre for Research and Development entitled “Decompression schedules for MCM/EOD II diving” carried out in 2016-2021. The current article is linked to the new project No. DOB-BIO-12-03-001-2022 implemented under the contract with the NCBiR entitled: “The effects of combat effort and air transport on the safety of combat divers in the execution of underwater combat operations,” scheduled for 2023-2025.

Taksonomia wskaże, która działalność operacyjna i inwestycyjna kwalifikuje się do zrównoważonej środowiskowo, aby ułatwić inwestorowi stworzenie modeli biznesowych zgodnych z założonymi celami transformacji energetycznej. W artykule przedstawiono rodzaje działalności dla sektora energetycznego, które objęte są taksonomią. Skupiono się na wybranych trzech rodzajach działalności i opisano cele oraz kryteria jakie muszą spełniać te działalności, żeby zostały uznane za zrównoważone środowiskowo.

The taxonomy will indicate which operating and investment activities qualify as environmentally sustainable to help the investor create business models in line with the goals of the energy transformation. The article presents the types of activities for the energy sector that are included in the taxonomy. The focus was on selected 3 types of activities and described the objectives and criteria that must be met by these activities in order to be considered environmentally sustainable.

This paper describes a new Paleogene deep-water agglutinated foraminifera from the Contessa Highway Section, Umbria-Marche Basin, Italy. The new species Arenoturrispirillina waskowskae is characterised by its predominently high trochospiral coiling, which distinguishes it from the genus Glomospira. The new species is also found in the Polish Carpathians.

We document an upper upper Albian (Mortoniceras rostratum Zone) cephalopod assemblage from Clansayes (Drôme, south-eastern France). Although fossils are rare in local exposures and in the single sampled level, a decade of intensive fossil collecting yielded 290 ammonite and 5 nautilid specimens. In total, we describe 1 species of nautilid and 24 species (within 17 genera) of ammonites, including 13 heteromorphs. Only two of these ammonite taxa were previously recorded from the upper upper Albian at Clansayes, which demonstrates the value of this fauna with regard to taxonomy, palaeobiology and palaeobiogeography. Based on morphological and biometric analyses performed on an extensive material (104 specimens), we discriminate two species for the heteromorphic ammonite genus Mariella Nowak, 1916 within the Mortoniceras rostratum Zone. In addition, we investigate shell chirality patterns in Mariella from the late Albian of southern France. Upon comparison of the Clansayes material with older material from the immediately underlying upper Albian Mortoniceras fallax Zone at the neighbouring Salazac locality, we identify an increase in the proportion of sinistral specimens. This observed increase in the frequency of sinistral Mariella specimens may hypothetically be part of a global evolutionary pattern, considering that nearly all documented younger Cenomanian Mariella (and more generally Cenomanian turrilitids) are sinistral.

Ophiuroids from the Upper Jurassic marine deposits (upper Oxfordian-lower Kimmeridgian) of southern and north-western Poland have been studied in two sections: Zalas quarry in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland in southern Poland and Wapienno/Bielawy quarries in the Kuyavia region of north-western Poland. Described herein are nine taxa belonging to five genera (one new to science): Alternacantha Thuy and Meyer, 2013; Dermocoma Hess, 1964; Ophiobartia Loba gen. nov.; Ophioderma Müller and Troschel, 1840; Ophiotreta Verrill, 1899, and three families: Ophiacanthidae and Ophiodermatidae (both of Ljungman, 1867), and Ophiotomidae Paterson, 1985. Only a few representatives of some of these taxa have previously been reported from the Jurassic of Poland. One species, Ophiobartia radwanskii Loba, is established as new. The ophiuroid material recognized from both Polish localities is close to those described from Western Europe at family or even genus level. Both studied ophiuroid assemblages from Zalas and Wapienno/Bielawy show similarities, being dominated by the cosmopolitan species Ophioderma spectabile Hess, 1966, and by different species of Dermocoma. The recognized ophiuroid assemblages represent a rather shallow-water environment.

The paper focuses on the taxonomic description of the lower Carboniferous (uppermost Tournaisian to middle Viséan) solitary rugose corals from bedded limestone and shale units in the Flett Formation in the Jackfish Gap (eastern Liard Range), northwestern Canada. The corals described herein include 12 species representing the genera Ankhelasma Sando, 1961, Bradyphyllum Grabau, 1928, Caninophyllum Lewis, 1929, Cyathaxonia Michelin, 1847, Ekvasophyllum Parks, 1951, EnniskilleniaKabakovich in Soshkina et al., 1962, Vesiculophyllum Easton, 1944 and Zaphrentites Hudson, 1941. Two of these species are new (Ankhelasma canadense sp. nov. and Ekvasophyllum variabilis sp. nov.) and 6 taxa are described in open nomenclature. The distribution and relative abundance of solitary Rugosa in Europe and the Liard Basin confirm the geographical proximity of those areas and the open marine communication between them during the early Carboniferous. It therefore represents an important contribution to the determination of the time of isolation of the western Laurussia shelf fauna from that of southeastern Laurussia, as well as the time of the possible emergence of species from southeastern Laurussia into the western Laurussia seas. Of particular importance here are cosmopolitan taxa and the timing of their disappearance from the fossil record.

A relatively rich assemblage of starfish is recognised from the talus facies of an Upper Jurassic (lower Kimmeridgian) biohermal, sponge-cyanobacterial build-up from the Wapienno/Bielawy succession exposed in a salt-dome anticline in Kuyavia region, north-central Poland. The paper presents 8 taxa belonging to 4 genera (one new to science): Boxaster gen. nov., Noviaster Valette, 1929, Tylasteria Valette, 1929, Valettaster Lambert, 1914, and 4 families: Astropectinidae Gray, 1840, Goniasteridae Forbes, 1841, Sphaerasteridae Schöndorf, 1906 and Stauranderasteridae Spencer, 1913. Only a very few representatives of some of these taxa have formerly been reported from the Jurassic of Poland. Two species are new: Valettaster planus sp. nov. and Boxaster wapienensis gen. et sp. nov. The Jurassic starfish assemblage recognised from the Wapienno/Bielawy succession is interpreted as an offshore starfish fauna with the admixture of allochtonous shallow-water taxa. The lithology of the source deposits indicates their transport by storm agitation and/or mass movements. This fact strongly influenced the preservation state, all collected plates being disarticulated and most of them abraded.

In this study, a total of 53 taxa were identified from 13 catchments in Turkey. Gomphonema affine var. rhombicum E.Reichardt, G. angusticephalum E.Reichardt & Lange-Bertalot, G. calcifugum Lange-Bertalot & E.Reichardt, G. elegantissimum E.Reichardt & Lange-Bertalot, G. exilissimum (Grunow) Lange-Bertalot & E.Reichardt, G. graciledictum E.Reichardt, G. italicum var. densistriatum Levkov, Mitic-Kopanja & E.Reichardt, G. linearoides Levkov, G. megolobrebissonii D.A.Chudaev, Kociolek & M.A.Golobova, G. minusculum Krasske, G. minutum f. syriacum Lange-Bertalot & Reichardt, G. reediae Levkov, Mitic-Kopanja & E.Reichardt, G. sarcophagus W.Gregory, G. subcapitatum (Grunow) E.Reichardt & Levkov and Gomphosphenia holmquistii (Foged) Lange-Bertalot were recorded for the first time in Turkey. Of the identified taxa, Didymosphenia geminata (Lyngbye) M.Schmidt, Gomphonema acuminatum Ehrenberg, G. affine Kützing, G. angustatum (Kützing) Rabenhorst, G. augur Ehrenberg, G. micropus Kützing, G. minutum (C.Agardh) C.Agardh, G. olivaceum (Hornemann) Brébisson, G. parvulum (Kützing) Kützing and G. truncatum Ehrenberg are common in the waters. G. angustius E.Reichardt, G. insignaffine Reichardt, G. insigne W.Gregory, G. italicum Kützing, G. laticollum E.Reichardt, G. pumilum var. rigidum E.Reichardt & Lange-Bertalot, G. stonei E.Reichardt, G. supertergestinum E.Reichardt and G. vibrio Ehrenberg have been recently recorded from the Turkish waters. The genus Gomphosphenia in Turkey has so far been represented only by G. grovei (M.Schmidt) Lange-Bertalot.

In this paper, we report new records of rare diatoms that have recently been found in Southern Poland. Planothidium nanum was found only in the upper reaches of the Centuria River, which is not exposed to human influence, while Navicula flandriae was found in two rivers (the Bolina and the Mleczna) affected by salt mine water from hard coal mines. The impact of anthropogenic salinity on diatom communities is as yet poorly documented. Therefore, we conducted a survey on this phenomenon. We surveyed seven sampling sites for diatom assemblages and habitat characteristics, including three sampling sites impacted by mine water. Navicula flandriae was recorded at both sampling sites affected by salt mine water and in two other rivers (the Centuria and the Mitręga), indicating its wide preference for salinity. We confirmed the occurrence of P. nanum at the same site where this species was found and described in our previous paper. In addition, we recorded the occurrence of this species at two other sites in habitats with similar characteristics (lower reaches of the Centuria and Wiercica rivers). Our results indicate a more common occurrence of N. flandriae and P. nanum, which means that further monitoring of diatoms is necessary.

In the article the method of analysis of financial potential using taxonomy method has been developed as well as it has been tested on the basis of empirical data of Ukrainian forestry enterprises. The application of such a method made it possible to construct a rating assessment of a complex and multifactorial economic object – the financial potential, using algorithms of systematization to multidimensional quantities. The authors present the stages of application of analytical procedures for assessing the dynamics of taxonomic indicators of financial potential as well as for constructing the rating of the suggested business entities. An innovative model of financial potential of forestry enterprises is proposed, which will allow to identify the complex of properties of an object as a basis for forming a set of analytical procedures for assessing its state. The obtained results of the analysis can serve as the basis for constructing a management strategy to optimize the financial potential of the enterprise.

Content available remote A Complete Taxonomy of Restarting Automata without Auxiliary Symbols

A complete taxonomy is presented for restarting automata without auxiliary symbols. In this taxonomy, the language classes that are accepted by deterministic and nondeterministic, monotone, weakly monotone, and non-monotone, shrinking and length-reducing restarting automata are compared to each other with respect to inclusion. As it turns out, the 45 types of restarting automata considered yield 29 different classes of languages. By presenting a collection of rather simple example languages, it is shown that, for any two of these language classes ℒ1 and ℒ2, the class ℒ1 is a subclass of ℒ2 if and only if ℒ1 is defined by a type of restarting automaton that is a restriction of a type of restarting automaton that defines the class ℒ2.

In Butkov Quarry, ammonites of the families Holcodiscidae Spath, 1923 and Barremitidae Breskovski, 1977 occur in the pelagic Lower Cretaceous pelagic deposits of the Manín Unit. This contribution discusses the taxonomy of both families and presents their distribution in the layered sequences of the quarry. The genus Spitidiscus Kilian, 1910 classified as a member of the Superfamily Perisphinctoidea Steinmann in Steinmann and Döderlein, 1890 is an important representative of the Holcodiscidae from a stratigraphic point of view. In areas where the zonal index Acanthodiscus radiatus (Bruguière, 1789) does not occur, as in Butkov Quarry, the first representatives of Spitidiscus indicate the base of the Hauterivian. The genus Plesiospitidiscus Breistroffer, 1947 was long regarded as a member of the Superfamily Desmoceratoidea Zittel, 1895. This superfamily was based on its type species, Eodesmoceras celestini (Pictet and Campiche, 1860), which is not Valanginian in age, as now clearly proven. As a consequence, this superfamily is considered invalid. Vermeulen and Lahondère (2011) proposed an alternative by selecting a suitable initial genus, namely Plesiospitidiscus, for the Family Barremitidae, Superfamily Barremitoidea Breskovski, 1977 (nom. transl. Vermeulen and Lahondère, 2011).

Starting from a subjective viewpoint on the decreasing interest in invertebrate fossil taxonomy, this essay discusses its importance in palaeobiological studies exemplified with cases from the palaeobiogeography and palaeoecology of rugose corals, and aims at provoking a discussion on the topic. The possible causes of this negative declining trend include inherent problems of palaeontological taxonomy, and changing systems in science and higher education.
