W artykule dokonano porównania wybranych parametrów sterowników cRIO-9022 (sterownik przemysłowy) oraz myRIO-1900 (sterownik dydaktyczny) z punktu widzenia możliwości wykorzystania ich w układzie sterowania wyrzutni elektromagnetycznej. Przedstawiono wyniki badań laboratoryjnych ukierunkowanych na porównanie czasu narastania oraz opadania zbocza sygnału na wyjściu cyfrowym dla obu sterowników. Badania przeprowadzono w celu oceny możliwości wykorzystania zamiennie obu sterowników w układzie sterowania pracą hybrydowej wyrzutni elektromagnetycznej ze wspomaganiem pneumatycznym.

The article compares some selected parameters of the cRIO-9022 (industrial controller) and myRIO-1900 (student device) from the point of view of their possible use in the electromagnetic launcher control system. The results of laboratory tests aimed at comparing the rise and fall time of the signal edge at the digital output for both controllers are presented. The study was conducted to assess the interchangeability of both controllers in the control system of a hybrid electromagnetic launcher with pneumatic assist.

Cost saving is one of the most important factors for sustainability of the industrial enterprise. The company must optimize its procurement process, monitor and forecast of market prices, search and introduce alternative, select future partners carefully and apply optimal procedures. Also the buyer has to distribute the orders among suppliers, motivate them in cooperation and promote competition between suppliers. It is important to evaluate the transaction costs for buyer and participants before announcement of the tender, compare them with the parameters of the transaction and the market situation. The article shows growing costs in case of superposition of procurement cycles, and notes that the switch is characterized not only by cost but also time figures. It is concluded that the minimization of switching time leads to cost saving.

Recent development in optical networking employing wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) fulfills the high bandwidth demand applications. Failure of such networks, leads to enormous data and revenue loss. Protection is one of the key techniques, which is used in designing survivable WDM networks. In this paper we compare dedicated and shared protection strategies employed inWDMmesh networks to protect optical networks failure, particularly fiber failure. Dijkstra's shortest path algorithm is considered for carrying out simulations. The paper compares the performance of protection schemes, such as, dedicated path protection (DPP), shared path protection (SPP) and shared link protection (SLP) schemes. Capacity utilization, switching time and blocking probability are the parameters considered to measure the performance of the protection schemes. Simulation results show that, SPP is more efficient in terms of capacity utilization over DPP and SLP schemes, whereas, SLP offered better switching time than both DPP and SPP schemes. The average call drop rate is minimum for shared path protection scheme and maximum for shared link protection scheme.

Content available On a general standby system and its optimization

Redundancy or standby is a technique that has been widely applied to improving system reliability and availability in the stage of system design. In this paper, we consider a standby system with two units in which the first unit (unit 1) starts its operation under active state and the other unit (unit 2) is under cold standby state at the starting point. After a specified time s (switching time), the state of unit 2 is changed to warm standby state and, as soon as the operating unit 1 fails, the state of unit 2 is changed to active state. If unit 1 fails before times, the system fails. Units can fail at both active and warm standby states. A general method for modeling the standby system is adopted and, based on it, system performance measures (system reliability and mean life) are derived. We consider the problem of determining optimal switching time which maximizes the expected system life. Some numerical examples are studied.
