The article is a result of a complementary advanced publication workshop accompanying the curriculum course exercises for PhD students, on the role of ICT in the research work of a scientist. To fulfill the extended course requirements the participants decided to write relevant paper, if possible, related to their individual research endeavors and their relations to the digital world. The paper consists of a collection of short chapters written by young researchers. They express their own views, based on early research experience, relevant generally to the inclusion of critical digital age components in their theses. The chapters are only moderately consulted by the tutor in the direction of finding a common denominator related to social sciences.

Artykuł traktuje o zastosowaniu logistyki humanitarnej w aspekcie eksponowania społecznego komponentu jej istoty oraz determinant skuteczności z akcentem na hybrydyzację. W tym kontekście należy widzieć cel artykułu, którym jest wskazanie społecznego miejsca logistyki humanitarnej w warunkach kryzysowych. Podnoszony jest w tym przypadku fakt, iż fundamentalne zadanie sprowadza się tu do szybkiej reakcji na sytuację kryzysową w celu ratowania życia czy zapobieżenia lub ulżenia cierpieniu ludzkiemu. Autor wskazuje na wagę problemu przez pryzmat literatury przedmiotu, przytaczając szereg prac, które opublikowano po 2009 r., kiedy to termin „logistyka humanitarna” został bliżej rozpoznany. Wskazuje ponadto przesłanki rozwoju zainteresowania tą problematyką. W sposób szczególny potraktował problem miejsca logistyki humanitarnej w naukach społecznych na tle poglądów i perspektyw spojrzenia na ten nad wyraz aktualny obszar zainteresowania logistyki. Jest to konieczne uzupełnienie klasycznego podejścia do logistyki, akcentujące człowieka i jego potrzeby w sytuacjach kryzysowych i nie tylko. To inne, humanitarne rozumienie systemu logistyki.

The article deals with the use of humanitarian logistics in the aspect of exposing the social component of its essence and the determinants of effectiveness with an emphasis on hybridization. In this context, the aim of the article should be seen, which is to indicate the social place of humanitarian logistics in crisis conditions. In this case, the fact is raised, that the fundamental task here boils down to a quick response to a crisis situation in order to save life or prevent or alleviate human suffering. The author points to the importance of the problem through the prism of the literature on the subject, citing a number of works that were published after 2009, when the term "humanitarian logistics" was more closely identified. Moreover, it indicates the premises for the development of interest in these issues. The author treated the problem of the place of humanitarian logistics in social sciences in a special way, outlining it against the background of views and perspectives of looking at this extremely current area of logistics interest. In relation to the classical approach of logistics, it's a necessary supplement that accentuates people and their needs in crisis situations and more. This is a different, humane understanding of the logistics system.

Purpose: The author of this text shares the opinion (expressed by quite a number of social researches) that the practical impact of social sciences on social practice, and particularly – on mankind’s responding to the global challenges, is not satisfying. Enhancement of this influence can be viewed as one of these challenges. An analysis of the causes of the situation characterized above is required to achieve this goal. Such an analysis is outlined in this text and some its tentative practical implications are indicated. In other words, it could be said that the goal of this paper is to contribute to the debate on the current state of the management studies and management education. Design/methodology/approach: This text belongs to the area where meet the philosophy of social sciences and their history. Thus, this text is based on historical description and on analysis of the described processes. Logical analysis connected with explication of axiological (ethical) assumptions allows to formulate some practical suggestions as to the further development of management studies and the (academic) education of the future managers. Findings: The role of the emerging interdisciplinary theory of collective action – as basis for both research and academic education in practically oriented social sciences – has been exposed and justified in this text. Research limitations/implications: Further historical and analytical studies seem to be necessary. Practical implications: Some changes in the organization (defining research problems, methodologies etc.) of the research practice of social sciences in general, and of management studies in particular, as well as changes in studies programs might be planned and accepted if arguments presented in this paper are at least partly convincing. Social implications: The text, suggesting and inspiring some changes in the education of managers, might also have some indirect impact on the quality of politics, self-government, or civil-society organization. Originality/value: The paper contains an idea of management studies as an interdisciplinary science connecting elements of traditional management theory with sociology, political sciences and economics. The idea, and also its justification, seems to be rather new. The paper is addressed to the representatives of various social sciences interested in interdisciplinary cooperation.

Artykuł porusza wybrane zagadnienia związane z indukcją i jej stosowaniem w procesach badawczych prowadzonych w ramach nauk o bezpieczeństwie. Z uwagi na społeczny charakter nauk o bezpieczeństwie i klasyfikowaniem ich do nauk empirycznych stosowanie właśnie indukcji jest jednym z kluczowych założeń metodologicznych. W pracy skupiono się na przybliżeniu indukcji oraz możliwościach jej wykorzystywania w prowadzeniu badań naukowych w dyscyplinie nauk o bezpieczeństwie.

The paper examines the role of induction in the research process within security sciences. It is related to social character of security sciences and its classification as a part of empirical sciences. The article is an introduction to wider discussion around the inductive method (empirical approach) and induction within theoretical methods of research.

Crowd panic has incurred massive injuries and deaths throughout history; thus understanding it is particularly important in order to save human lives. Recently, numerous simulation methods have been contributed in order to provide insight into the design of evacuation planning strategies. In this paper, we integrate a social structure to the crowd mobility model for the purpose of investigating the influence of social bonds on collective behavior during panic. A macroscopic crowd panic model based on social science theories was integrated as an internal module to the microscopic mobility model. The resulting framework is tunable and permits the implementation of several panic scenarios. It is also designed to run in different situations for a better comprehension of panic-related phenomena. The results demonstrate the smoothness of our crowd flow model and the realism of evacuation during panic.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na potrzebę łączenia nauk społecznych z innymi dziedzinami naukowymi, takimi jak socjobiologia oraz psychologia ewolucyjna. To właśnie poprzez nie, naukowcy starają się wyjaśnić podobieństwa i różnice w zachowaniach ludzi i zwierząt. Im lepiej bowiem człowiek zrozumie, jakim jest zwierzęciem, tym skuteczniej będzie mógł dążyć do obranego przez siebie kierunku.

The aim of this article is to draw attention, that there is a need to combine social sciences with other scientific fields, such as sociobiology and evolutionary psychology. Through them, scientists try to explain the similarities and differences in the behavior of people and animals. The better man understands what an animal is, the more effectively he will be able to pursue his chosen direction in life.

Praca dyplomowa musi bazować na podstawowych kanonach metodologicznych. We wstępie pracy obowiązkowo powinna znaleźć się: sytuacja problemowa, dyscyplina wiodąca, cel pracy (ewentualnie hipoteza pracy), przedmiot badań, podmiot badań, zakres czasowy analizy, zakres przestrzenny badań, problemy badawcze, metody badawcze, wykorzystanie literatury przedmiotu, struktura pracy, przydatność opracowania. Standardowe zakończenie pracy ujmować powinno: odniesienie się do celu pracy i hipotezy jeśli została postawiona, wnioski ogólne, wnioski szczegółowe, propozycje i kierunki badań na przyszłość.

A diploma thesis must be based on basic methodological canons. The introduction of the work should include: a problematic situation, a leading discipline, the purpose of the work (or a hypothesis of the work), subject of research, research object, time span of the analysis, spatial extent of research, research problems, research methods, use of literature, structure of work, usefulness of the work. The standard ending of the work should include: reference to the purpose of the work and hypothesis, if any, general conclusions, detailed conclusions, proposals and directions for future research.

Przemiany cywilizacyjne drugiej połowy XX wieku, które dalej są kontynuowane w XXI wieku, wywołały istotne zmiany w standardzie życia naszego społeczeństwa. Współczesne społeczeństwo zostało „przesiąknięte” techniką. Obecnie na rynku pracy poszukiwani są dobrze wykształceni specjaliści, którzy umiejętnie potrafią łączyć często odległe od siebie dziedziny nauki. Dziś już nie wystarczy wąskoprofilowe wykształcenie. Dlatego też w programach kształcenia studentów kierunków technicznych obok wiedzy ogólnej z przedmiotów ścisłych oraz wiedzy z zakresu kształcenia inżynierskiego są przedmioty z zakresu nauk humanistycznych i społecznych. To dzięki temu można wykształcić „wrażliwego człowieka”, który w mądry sposób potrafi zdobytą wiedzę wykorzystać i odnieść sukces w pracy zawodowej.

Civilization changes of the second half of the twentieth century, which are further continued in the twenty-first century, caused significant changes in the living standard of our society. Modern society was "steeped" in technology. Currently, the labor market is looking for well-educated professionals who can skillfully combine often various fields of sciences. Today, it is not enough to complete one field of studies. Therefore, in the curricula of technical faculties apart from general knowledge of science and knowledge in the field of engineering education there are subjects connected with humanities and social sciences. For this reason, it is possible to educate "a sensitive man", who can wisely take advantage of this knowledge and succeed in professional work.

The article shows the exemplary use of qualitative and quantitative methods to conduct analysis, interpretation and presentation of research results in the field of social sciences. The creation of the Ishikawa diagram and the way the Pareto-Lorenz analysis is conducted, as well as the mutual relationship between these methods while interpreting research results, has been discussed in detail. The possibilities of the practical use of the methods above have been presented in the example of the analysis of the report on Causes of Unjust Convictions in Poland by the Civil Development Forum.

Ze względu na bardzo złożony charakter przeobrażeń ekonomicznych oraz społecznych i ich implikacje edukacyjne, przemiany edukacyjne przedstawiono w kategoriach systemowych. Zaprezentowano koncepcję stałych indywidualnych cech osobowości człowieka, pozwalającą na wyróżnienie stałych indywidualnych cech osobowości, które są niezależne od oddziaływań otoczenia i cech osobowości zmiennych, które zależą od oddziaływań otoczenia. Scharakteryzowano tradycyjny system kształcenia w aspekcie tej koncepcji. Przedstawiono też implikacje edukacyjne koncepcji stałych indywidualnych cech osobowości, które stanowią zbiór postulatów adresowanych do twórców przyszłego systemu edukacji, które mogą przyczynić się, by system ten był znacznie bardziej efektywny i humanistyczny od tradycyjnego.

Celem artykułu nie jest odbieranie znaczenia istniejącym już interpretacjom innowacji, ale ich rozwinięcie poprzez pokazanie określonych problemów dotyczących innowacji na gruncie ekonomii, nauk o zarządzaniu, socjologii i psychologii.

This article presents different approaches to the problem of innovations, basing on the knowledge, in the literature of the object. The considerations are begun with the estimation of directions of the development of innovations in the present world. Conditioned globalization of the world economy and dyanmic increase of technological possibilities, this just innovations determine the economic development of states, the competitiveness of firms and the creativity of the man. The purpose of this paper, is not to dismiss the importance of existing interpretations of innovations, but instead, to display them by presenting other problems concerning innovations in Economics, Sociology, Psychology and Technology Management.
