Audio communication on the public Internet suffers from not synchronized word clocks of the involved audio devices. The resulting clock drift leads to audio dropouts, which is typically compensated by a sample rate conversion (SRC) in standard telecommunication systems. This, however, does not fulfill the requirements of a high-quality audio system, in which all devices share one and the same word clock. Professional IP based network audio systems such as DANTE or AVB with their respective clock synchronization techniques have so been limited to LAN usage, where network jitter and loss have negligible importance regarding the required accuracy in the dimension of several nanoseconds. In a WAN, however, jitter in the millisecond dimension would lead to unacceptable measurement errors for the intended clock synchronization. As a consequence, we decided to investigate alternative clock synchronization techniques for WAN-distributed devices and developed a GNSS-based approach, which leads to precise clock synchronization.

The paper describes a Java-based framework called ASimJava that can be used to develop parallel and distributed simulators of complex real-life systems. Some important issues associated with the implementation of parallel and distributed simulations are discussed. Two principal paradigms for constructing simulations today are considered. Particular attention is paid to an approach for federating parallel and distributed simulators. We describe the design, performance and applications of the ASimJava framework. Two practical examples, namely, a simple manufacturing system and computer network simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and range of applications of the presented software tool.

W artykule przedstawiono problematykę jakości energii elektrycznej. Dokonano przeglądu aktów normalizacyjnych związanych z pojęciem oraz pomiarem parametrów jakości energii elektrycznej. Opisano i porównano kilka możliwych konfiguracji systemów do pomiaru tych parametrów pod kątem zastosowania oraz kosztów. Przedstawiono również możliwość rozbudowy i ewaluacji systemu w kierunku zastosowania wielu modułów rosproszonych, przesyłających dane za pomocą różnych mediów transmisyjnych (sieć rozległa, sieć telefonii komórkowej, sieć energetyczna) do serwera.

The issue of power quality was resented in this article. Review of norms connected with idea and measurement of power quality parameters was made. A few configuration of measurement systems for researching these parameters from aplication and cost of construction point of view was presented. Posibilities of development and extension of measurement systems was showed for using many dissipation systems. These systems can communicate by means of different transmission media (for example WAN, cellular phone and power network) into server.

W artykule przedstawiono projekt systemu inteligentnych czujników, z możliwością podłączenia do sieci Internet. Projekt obejmuje oprogramowanie inteligentnego czujnika mikroprocesorowego, konstrukcję centralki opartej na komputerze TINI, umożliwiającej podłączenie systemu do sieci Ethernet z wykorzystaniem protokołu TCP/IP oraz oprogramowania dla komputera PC. Komputer PC podłączony przez sieć Ethernet umożliwia gromadzenie i wizualizację wyników, a także diagnostykę i konfigurację sensorów.

The paper presents the project of monitoring system based on smart sensors with Internet connection capability. The project covers the following areas; the design and implementation of microprocessor sensors, design of control station based on TINI computer, which allows connecting to Ethernet networks with TCP/IP protocol and software for personal computer. The software, mining on personal computer, collects data from TINI stations, processes and stores them in the database. The other program is used for remote sensor monitoring and reconfiguration.
