W artykule przybliżono problematykę analizy strat identyfikowalnych w działalności operacyjnej przedsiębiorstwa. Analizę oparto na przykładach strat przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjnego branży hutniczej. Przygotowana analiza jest oparta na ograniczonej liczbie strat identyfikowalnych w wybranych procesach wewnętrznych badanego przedsiębiorstwa. Poszczególne komponenty matrycy analizy strat są użyteczne w identyfikacji i klasyfikacji strat według metodologii World Class Manufacturing (WCM).

The article analyzes the problem of identifiable losses in the operations of the company. The analysis is based on examples of losses in manufacturing company in steel industry. Prepared analysis is based on a limited number of identifiable losses in selected internal processes of the metallurgical company. Particular components of the matrix of losses analysis are useful for the identification and classification losses in World Class Manufacturing (WCM).

WCM (World Class Manufacturing) jest uważany obecnie za praktyczny wzorzec doskonałości produkcji, dlatego nie dziwi fakt dużego nim zainteresowania. Stanowi on zbór wytycznych do zrealizowania, w ramach których, podnoszony jest stopniowo poziom zorganizowania działalności produkcyjnej, aż do osiągnięcia odpowiedniego stopnia doskonałości. Fundament WCM tworzą filary: techniczny i zarządczy, których tylko kompleksowe wdrożenie gwarantować może doskonałość w organizacji produkcji, czyli tzw. klasę światową. Biorąc pod uwagę liczne już wdrożenia systemów klasy światowej w Polsce, w opracowaniu określono poszczególne działania prowadzące do wzrostu poziomu zorganizowania obszaru zarządzania personelem oraz przedstawiono, możliwe do wykorzystania, wnioski wdrożeniowe.

WCM is a way to organize an enterprise so as to achieve the highest possible level of production organization through implementing modern methods of management. World Class Manufacturing concept consists of technical and managerial pillars with each pillar providing a specific supporting role. One of the main pillar is a People Development. The main purpose of the People Development pillar is to identify and eliminate gaps of knowledge and competences, supporting all the other pillars in developing the organization competencies. Taking into consideration numerous implementations of WCM systems in Poland, particular activities and advices leading to the increase of people organization level were estimated within particular defined stages.

In the paper the place of quality in Worki Class Manufacturing was presented. The concept of WCM is realized in big, global corporation. At the first the concept was realized in manufacturing motor sector. Later standards of World Manufacturing Production were implemented in other enterprises. In the paper some of activities of manufacturing metallurgical enterprise ArcelorMittal Poland were presented. The enterprise tends towards WCM and one of the pillar of the activity is product quality.

Celem niniejszej publikacji jest pokazanie przykładowych działań implementowanych w przedsiębiorstwach w ramach poszczególnych filarów Produkcji Klasy Światowej (WCM) i doskonalących jego pozycję. Rozważania teoretyczne wzbogacono analizą case study. Jako studium przypadku posłużyło przedsiębiorstwo hutnicze ArcelorMittal Poland, które dąży do uzyskania pozycji rynkowej producenta (dostawcy) o wymogach światowych w ramach założeń metodologii WCM.

The article shows relations between methodology of WCM and strategy of supplier by choice. In the article basic pillars of WCM were characterized to answer: how they are involved in realization of the strategy. Mentioned strategy is performed in metallurgical enterprise ArcelorMittal Poland within pillars of World Class Manufacturing (WCM). WCM standards are based on the assumption „banish waste and create wealth in your corporation” (J.P. Womack, D.T. Jones, Lean Thinking: Banish Waste and Create Wealth in Your Corporation, Simon & Schuster, New York 2002). Some examples of the activity were presented in the article.

Treścią publikacji jest charakterystyka dziesięciu podstawowych filarów koncepcji Produkcji Klasy Światowej (World Class Manufacturing − WCM). Teoretyczne założenia koncepcji przedstawiono od strony praktycznej funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa hutniczego. Jako studium przypadku posłużyło przedsiębiorstwo ArcelorMittal Poland, które wdraża programy, składające się na dziesięciu filarów WCM.

In the publication ten pillars of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) were characterized. Theoretical foundations of the concept were referred to practical business. ArcelorMittal Poland was used as the case study. Particular areas in the enterprise called the pillars of WCM are presented further in this publication.

Purpose: of this paper is to show the complexity of issues related to modern management of production systems. Furthermore, it presents in a coherent form principles and the nature of the so-called World Class Manufacturing model. While presenting the model a wide variety of problems to be solved has also been identified in order to achieve the expected results, which allow organizations to build a strong competitive position in the market. This is a timely issue due to the fact that the model gives a possibility to improve production management systems. Thereby, reliability and quality of production process and its flexibility is improved. This, in turn, greatly affects the competitiveness of businesses. It should be also emphasized that variability in the environment in which organizations operate forces them to continuous search for new organizational solutions and implementation of modern management-supporting tools. Design/methodology/approach: In order to achieve the aforementioned objectives literature studies on modern concepts of management were undertaken. Particular attention was paid to the production area. As a follow-up to literature studies a research was carried out in a number of companies that implemented some elements of the WCM model. As a results it was possible to get to know applied solutions, identified problems, achieved results, etc. Findings: As a result of literature studies one can come to a conclusion that there are many different methods and techniques supporting management processes. The study shows that managers use these tools extensively. The number of management-supporting tools is increasing. There is a growing awareness of employees that any kind of change is necessary Practical implications: The issue presented here is of great importance for the production practice. Ignoring rapid changes in the business environment and the need to adapt to them can weaken the competitive position in the market. What it all comes down to is that implementation of modern management models is necessary. Originality/value: A major advantage of this paper is to show the complexity of production system management. Different pillars of the World Class Manufacturing model show the diversity of issues to be tackled, diversity of models, tools and techniques.

W artykule przedstawiono wykorzystywaną w fabryce Fiat Auto Poland S.A. metodologię World Class Manufacturing (WCM). Artykuł przedstawia praktyczny sposób wykorzystania WCM, w tym takich narzędzi, jak: krzyż bezpieczeństwa, S-TAG, AM-TAG, POKA-YOKE, 5S, 5Why, 4M, OPL, EWO. Dzięki metodologiom, narzędziom i technikom WCM praca staje się łatwiejsza, bezpieczniejsza, jakość produktów stoi na najwyższym poziomie, a koszt produkcji spada.

The article presents the methodology of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) used in Fiat Auto Poland S.A. factory. The article presents practical way of WCM use, including such tools as "safety cross" S-TAG, AM-TAG, POKA-YOKE, 5S, 5Why, 4M, OPL and EWO. Thanks to methodologies, tools and WCM technologies the work gets easier, safer and the quality of the products is the highest and the cost of production decreases.
