Purpose: The main objective of the article is to present the concept of assessing the level of an organization’s utilization of its potential for transformation towards process orientation, using a practical implementation example. Design/methodology/approach: The structure of the research procedure was based on the theoretical assumptions regarding the methodological procedures involving development of a model of process maturity assessment. Such research methods as bibliometric analysis, systematic literature review, participant observation, opinion survey and semi-structured interview were used to achieve the research objectives formulated. Findings: The value of the article entails the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to determine an organization’s propensity for transition towards higher levels of process maturity. This effect has been achieved using a method of multi-hierarchical process maturity assessment. It has been determined that the organization under examination is at the second level of process maturity, although many of the elements diagnosed show third-level process maturity potential. An authorial research method has been additionally verified, as well as the examined organization’s real and utilized potential has been determined, which constitute the basis for assessing the level of process maturity. Research limitations/implications: inability to fully objectify the research results obtained. Practical implications: The article shows the basis and the method for identifying the examined company’s real and utilized potential of process maturity as well as for determining the level of process maturity, based on which the company’s strategy towards a higher level of process maturity can be formulated. Originality/value: The unique nature of this article lies in the proposed method of multi-hierarchical assessment of an organization’s process maturity. Content available Management of the association formation process
EN
Purpose: The aim of the paper is to identify the process of creating an association and to define a model of the process of creating an association that is registered in the National Court Register, as well as to show the role played by the entity managing this process. On this basis the author attempts to answer the research questions: What is the correct model of the association formation process and whether, and if so, to what extent the activities undertaken by the entity managing the association formation process affect the possibility of its creation and the subsequent functioning of the association? Design/methodology/approach: In order to search for evidence to answer the research questions, the method of legal analysis (normative methodology) anchored in the theory of organisation and management was used, as appropriate for analysing a phenomenon highly determined by legal regulations. The combination of the research method of legal analysis and concepts from the field of organisation and management allows to formulate conclusions on the identification and course of the phenomenon under study, causes and effects of actions taken by the entity managing the process of association formation. The author has used various techniques and tools to collect and analyse data, i.e. participatory observation, legal analysis, analysis of documentation, analysis of judicial decisions and Internet sources. Findings: The author has identified and defined a model for managing the association formation process and has established the important role of the entity managing this process. Practical implications: The association formation process management model can be used in practice by those who undertake the management of such processes. Social implications: One of the basic organisational forms, in which a person can actively influence social life, be creative and realise both his own needs and the needs of others, is the association. The institution of association - as an organisation - seems to be underused by active members of social life. An undeniable problem is the difficulty to direct the process of association creation, there is no popularization of a model of the process of association creation. Therefore, it is necessary to define such a model, perhaps to define a postulate for legislative changes and, above all, to educate and promote it. Originality/value: The presented analysis is important, because it establishes and shows a model of the association formation process, which can be applied by the entity managing the association formation process, and shows its significance for the later functioning of such an organisation as an association registered in the National Court Register. This research problem, so far, has not been elaborated from the point of view of management science.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to show the importance of measuring the effects of the execution of personnel processes within the framework of personnel function management in manufacturing enterprises. Design/methodology/approach: The development of the article required a critical analysis of the literature on the subject. A literature study of scientific publications, a survey, and face-to 16 face interviews were performed. Findings: Thanks to the realization of the survey it was found that, despite such high awareness of the importance and effectiveness of the use of KPIs, only less than 28% of the respondents declared the use of HR function measurements in a systematic way, and only 53% use only a few indicators, in an active way and not fully coordinated. Research limitations/implications: Future directions of activities will concern the realization of research in another research group (increased number of analyzed production and service enterprises) from the area of the southern part of Poland and the comparative analysis of obtained results. The limitation of the research may be the unwillingness of enterprises to cooperate. Practical implications: The results of the study indicate the possibility and at the same time recommend the implementation of KPIs for monitoring the effectiveness of development processes in enterprises. The obtained results will contribute to the implication of more KPIs and thus increase the level of effective management. Originality/value: Filling the research gap in the field of measuring the effects of personnel function with the use of selected KPIs. The study is addressed to the management staff of enterprises.

Zaprezentowano propozycje możliwych zmian systemu zarządzania procesami dostosowanego do specyfiki likwidacji kopalń.

Restructuring measures have been carried out in the Polish mining industry to adjust the industry to the market economy. The liquidation of the mine is the last and natural stage of mining activity. A decision to liquidate a mining plant may be issued as a result of the depletion of resources of exploited deposit, the unprofitability of mining in a particularly unfavorable mining and geological conditions and the expiry of a concession or excessive environmental degradation. As a result of the restructuring processes, the number of active hard coal mines significantly dropped. The activities related to the revitalization and restructuring of hard coal mines are carried out by Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń S.A. as the legal successor of previous mining operations. The mine liquidation is complex and costly. Changes taking place in the mining environment cause interest in applying the concept of process management in the conducted activity. The publication presents the results of the research on the processes that occur while releasing the property of mining plants that are put into liquidation. According to the previous conclusions, proposals for possible changes of the process management system adapted to the specificity of mine liquidation were presented.

Restrukturyzacja górnictwa węglowego pociąga znaczne nakłady budżetowe. Kompleksowe podejście naukowe ułatwi prowadzenie procesów racjonalizacji i minimalizacji kosztów likwidacji kopalń węgla kamiennego. W artykule przeprowadzono analizę statystyczną przebiegu procesów likwidacji zakładów górniczych w SRK S.A. w układzie rocznym oraz badania panelowe i wywiad bezpośredni z osobami kierującymi działalnością Spółki i jej Oddziałami.

Strategic management is not universally employed by Polish entrepreneurs. What is interesting, the mentioned situation refers mainly to the sector of small and medium-size enterprises (SME). In such case, we should indicate the instruments supporting the process of introducing the strategic management solutions, especially ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) class systems which support operational as well as strategic planning. The purpose of the present paper is to determine the needs of constructing the awareness of the entrepreneurs, mainly from MSP sector, in respect of strategic and process management supported by available ERP class systems. Lack of the mentioned awareness and lack of the flow of information on effect of vision, mission and processes causes a lack of basis for implementation of the assumptions of strategic and process management. Due to the above reasons, the discussed process should be supported by informatics systems of ERP class. besides it, the enterprises seek nowadays for the methods of management which would allow optimum utilization of the available resources. It means that they try to find the answer to the following question: how to increase the number of the produced goods or the rendered services with the limited resources? The answer to the mentioned question has been given in the present paper.

Zarządzanie strategiczne nie jest powszechnie stosowane przez polskich przedsiębiorców. co ciekawe, taka sytuacja dotyczy głównie sektora MSP (małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw). W takim przypadku należy wskazać narzędzia wspierające proces wdrażania rozwiązań zarządzania strategicznego, zwłaszcza systemów klasy ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) wspierających planowanie zarówno operacyjne, jak i strategiczne. Celem artykułu jest określenie potrzeb budowania świadomości przedsiębiorców, głównie z sektora MSP, w zakresie zarządzania strategicznego i procesowego wspartego dostępnymi systemami klasy ERP. Brak świadomości i brak przepływu informacji o działaniu wizji, misji, procesów powoduje, że brakuje podstaw do wdrażania założeń zarządzania strategicznego i procesowego.

The liquidation of the mine is the last and natural stage of mining activity. The activities related to the revitalization and restructuring of hard coal mines are carried out by Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń S.A. (SRK S.A.), as the legal successor of previous mining operations. The implementation of the mine liquidation process has not been the subject of scientific research so far aimed at rationalization and minimization of the costs incurred. Activities leading to the liquidation of the mining plants are the procedural nature, however, the mine liquidation is always a single case which has a result in diversifying the size of outlays. The support for the implementation of the process approach in the issue of mine liquidation in terms of rationalization and minimization of the costs incurred in SRK S.A. was to develop a method of managing the costs of liquidation processes with the software for evaluation of its size. The proposed method signals to the designer that the estimated cost of the process of liquidation of another mining plant deviates from the average values previously worked out by SRK S.A. The range of acceptable values results from the assumed coefficient of data variation.

This research study explores the relationship between customer focus and the performance of construction projects undertaken by small companies. Additionally, process management in these companies has been studied as a mediator in explaining the relationship between customer focus and project performance. A moderated mediation model has been proposed to investigate the role of strategic planning and its effects on project outcomes. Data was gathered from 326 staff members working at different levels of management in some of Pakistan’s emerging construction companies owned by young entrepreneurs. The study’s findings revealed a positive relationship between customer focus and project performance mediated by process management. Moderation analysis indicates a significant relationship between process management and project performance when moderated by strategic planning. Constraints to the study have been identified, and suggestions for future research have been offered.

The strategic scorecard represents a major element of an enterprise's management system, which contributes to improving the key areas of operation, as well as precisely defining operational goals, metrics and tasks within the strategical framework. Increasing competitiveness, as well as progressive globalisation of the Transport, Shipping and Logistics (TSL) services market, requires constant adaptation to change from managers. It is, therefore, appropriate to use the strategic scorecard as it can be applied for continuous monitoring of progress in the implementation of strategy and, if necessary, for enhancing actions and the measurement system. The authors analysed a transport company operating in the Podkarpackie Voivodship, with the implementation of the strategic scorecard. The purpose of this article was to create a strategic scorecard for the transport company in the context of streamlining transport processes, while simultaneously improving the quality of customer service, translating into maximising financial results.
