Pollution Indicator of a Megawatt Hour Produced in Cogeneration – the Efficiency of Biogas Purification Process as an Energy Source for Wastewater Treatment Plants

The sewage treatment plant, as a producer of renewable energy, should make every effort to ensure that the biogas used as a fuel meets the quality requirements, including those of the manufacturers of cogeneration units. Such measures necessitate the application of a conditioning process of biogas in order to remove harmful compounds, so that its parameters ensure failure-free operation of engines. The aim of the research was to evaluate the effectiveness of biogas treatment in the A-type installation using the “wet biogas treatment” technology, and in the B-type installation, which is a comprehensive solution comprising sulfur removal as a result of a simultaneous regeneration of the bed with oxygen, removal of siloxanes on activated carbon, cooling and heating of biogas along with its filtration. The analysis of the results of biogas testing for these two installations demonstrated fundamental qualitative differences for the benefit of the installation B, in which the biogas was characterized by a much lower content, mainly of sulfur, hydrogen sulfide, siloxanes and humidity. The introduced pollution indicator of a megawatt hour produced in cogeneration one has confirmed much higher pollution load from the A-type installation. The hybrid solution applied in the work with simultaneous regeneration of the bed has confirmed the efficiency of biogas conditioning. Such a solution contributes to a safe and reliable operation of the cogeneration system for generating energy from a renewable source, which in turn contributes to the optimization of energy.

Ocena funkcjonowania Gminnej Oczyszczalni Ścieków w Starych Babicach

W artykule przedstawiono ocenę funkcjonowania oczyszczalni ścieków w Gminie Stare Babice. Na podstawie udostępnionych wyników badań fizykochemicznych ścieków surowych i oczyszczonych wyznaczone zostały następujące wskaźniki niezawodności pracy oczyszczalni ścieków: sprawność oczyszczania, współczynnik niezawodności technologicznej oraz ryzyko negatywnej oceny działania oczyszczalni w stosunku do badanych wskaźników zanieczyszczeń. Analiza obejmowała wskaźniki zanieczyszczeń, takie jak: BZT5 ChZT-CR zawiesinę ogólną, azot ogólny i fosfor ogólny. Okres wykonywanych badań obejmował lata 2017-2018. W wyniku wykonanej analizy określono skuteczność usuwania poszczególnych zanieczyszczeń na poziomie: BZT5 - 99,0%, ChZT-CR - 96,5%, zawiesina ogólna - 98,6%, azot ogólny - 94,0% oraz fosfor ogólny - 98,3%. Stwierdzono, że oczyszczalnia działa w sposób prawidłowy i oczyszcza ścieki do wartości normatywnej w stosunku do dopuszczalnych wartości wskaźników określonych w obowiązującym dla niej pozwoleniu wodnoprawnym wydanym przez Starostę Warszawskiego Zachodniego Gminnemu Przedsiębiorstwu Komunalnemu „EKO-BABICE” Sp. z o.o. w Starych Babicach z dnia 10 września 2015 r.

Celem badań była analiza zanieczyszczenia gleby w rejonie zakładów metalurgicznych w dzielnicy Opole-Metalchem. Jako wskaźnika użyto Pb-210, ponieważ podwyższona jego aktywność może wskazywać na obecność innych zanieczyszczeń na badanym terenie. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników obliczono aktywność ołowiu nadmiarowego. Największe jego aktywności zaobserwowano w glebie na terenie leśnym. W miejscach z podwyższoną aktywnością ołowiu nadmiarowego odnotowano także wyższe wartości aktywności Cs-137.

The aim of the study was the analysis of soil contamination in the area in vicinity of metalworking plants located in the district Opole-Metalchem (PL). Pb-210 was used as pollution indicator because its increased concentration of activity may indicate the presence of other contaminants in the studied area. On the base of the obtained results, the activity concentration of the excessive lead was calculated. Its biggest value was observed in soil in a forest area. In areas with increased excessive lead content also elevated values of Cs-137 activity concentrations were recorded. Atmospheric source of Pbex and Cs-137 deposition was supposed.

Przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów wybranych wskaźników zanieczyszczenia kilku małych zbiorników wodnych znajdujących się w miejscowościach położonych na Równinie Wrocławskiej. Badania zbiorników przeprowadzono w latach 2000-2003. Przedstawiono również wnioski, w których scharakteryzowano stan i przyczyny zanieczyszczenia badanych obiektów.

The article presents the results of chosen pollution indicators measurement in several small reservoirs in localities situated on the Wrocławska Plain. The measurements were carried out in the years 2000-2003. The article also presents the conclusions, characterising the state and causes of the pollution in the examined reservoirs.
