Architektura i budownictwo długo pozostawały poza obszarem ścisłej, naukowej analizy. W artykule przedstawiono główne etapy rozwoju modeli architektoniczno-budowlanych. Ten ostatni etap ewolucji zinterpretowano w świetle funkcji cyfrowego medium, nowego elastycznego nośnika informacji o budynku.

Architecture and civil engineering have long remained outside the scope of strict, scientific analysis. The theory of discipline developed primarily in the area of history and criticism. The design methodology was established on the base of practical experience: observation, tracking processes of use, construction successes and disasters. The evolution of architectural techniques is closely related to the development of constructed models. Thanks to them, the art of shaping space gained a chance to conduct empirical research. Initially, models reflected a narrow scope of reality, mainly its geometric form. With the development of natural sciences, models became increasingly representative. The paper presents the timeline of development of architectural and engineering models. On that ground, changes in methodology have been outlined, leading to strict forms of reasoning. The significance of workshop digitization for improving the quality of models was thoroughly analyzed. This last stage of evolution has been interpreted considering the function of the digital medium, a new flexible form of information about the building.

BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology is presented against the background of the history of development of digital building information modeling systems, paying attention to industry integration and the role of the parametric model. Using the example of two completed objects such as the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul (2007–2014) by Zaha Hadid Architects and the King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture (ITHRA) in Dhahran (2006–2017) by Snøhetta, it is explained how the CAD/CAE/CAM implementation design strategy has an impact on parametric object-based modeling coupled with building information modeling. The data flow and the non-conflicting nature of the process of introducing changes to the working models are important here. Today, BIM technology is one of the most promising digital technologies and is still being improved based on the experience of designers and contractors.
This article discussed the determination of a metro vehicle’s door forces acting on its coarse structure. With previous articles addressing this issue, a definition of a specific reference vehicle was provided together with the collection of the normative requirements for metro vehicles. These form a basis for addressing the issue. The main objective hereof was to design a technical solution of a door system for the reference vehicle and create a parametric model of the door's forces acting on the vehicle’s rough structure. This model would serve to approximate and operatively quantify these force effects of the door to the vehicle’s structure by modifying the various input parameters. Therefore, it was necessary to create a mathematical model of the equilibrium conditions of the proposed door system and to quantify them using a developed software. Subsequently, these results served as inputs for the FEM analysis of the load-bearing components between the door and the vehicle’s structure.
The purpose of a car jack is lifting the car and maintaining it at a certain height during different repairs. This paper focuses on the design of car jack, which belongs to the basic equipment of cars. Cars jacks are used mainly for changing tires and small repairs of a car. The aim of this paper was to create a parametric CAD model of a car jack and carry out numerical structural analysis of the car jack using the created parametric CAD model. The development of the parametric CAD model and structural analysis was performed using the CATIA V5 system. This paper describes the modern way of creating more complex mechanisms, which support quick modification of its parameters, and thus the entire design. The whole model of the car jack was parametrized. The stresses obtained by finite element method (FEM) analysis were confirmed with the analytical calculation in characteristic parts of the design, with some exceptions. At the end of the paper, an analysis of the obtained results was performed, on the basis of which specified conclusions were made.

Various spatial planning conditions result in the establishment of lines delimiting specific land-use classes. These lines often cross cadastral boundaries. In this way, individual land properties may be located in different land-use zones. Since the land-use class is one of the attributes that significantly influences the market value of real estate, it seems reasonable to verify whether the non-homogeneous land use of a property should be included in its valuation procedure in a special way. One of the options of special procedure in this case is dividing the transaction prices obtained for real properties similar to the one being valued (covered by different land-use zones) into components of those prices that correspond to fragments of the property that have different land uses. This procedure is made possible by some statistical models that can be used in a comparative approach. This paper aims to present the possibility of using a parametric model for the valuation of land properties located in different land-use zones and to verify whether it is reasonable to consider non-homogeneity in land-use classes when determining the value of land.

Garment fit on a body model is an important factor for designing comfortable, functional and well fitting garments. Nowadays the virtual prototyping of garments provides high potential for design, product development and marketing processes. Previous examinations of garment fit to the body in a real and virtual environment were merely focused on expert evaluation by way of a descriptive comparison of proper and improper areas for fitting. Therefore the problem area in our research was to examine the fit of a skirt on a live model and on virtual models such as parametric and scanned body models in order to propose which virtual human body is the most suitable where garment fit is concerned. The paper also discusses the fit of a skirt on an individual part of the human body with respect to predefined areas. A numerical study with a questionnaire survey database was conducted with the aim of selecting the best model to assess the fit of a skirt to the human body, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to evaluate the questionnaire results. The results obtained confirm that the design is most important factor when evaluating a skirt’s fit to the body. Furthermore results confirmed that the hips and abdomen areas were the most important for evaluators when assessing as kirt’s fit to the body.

Ponadto omówiono dopasowanie spódnicy do poszczególnych partii ludzkiego ciała w stosunku do wcześniej określonych obszarów. W celu wybrania najlepszego modelu do oceny dopasowania spódnicy do ciała ludzkiego przeprowadzono badania matematyczne z użyciem danych ankietowych ocenionych analitycznym procesem hierarchicznym.

Modern geological characteristics of reservoir areas are based on data from a number of studies carried out at different scales – from the scale of nanometers, through the scale of samples (a few centimeters in size) to the scale of the entire reservoir. Such a large range of both sizes of an investigated area and analitical methods used (petro physical, petrological, sedimentological analysis, well logs and seismic cross-sections interpretations) results in pressure to take so called “scale effect” into account. This is due to the fact that the data obtained during the analyses of samples (size of a few cm) often cannot be directly transferred to the interpretations of the whole reservoir area (several km 2 in size). The key issue here is to obtain knowledge of the relations between the different sets of data and to calibrate them at every step of reservoir investigation (both conventional and unconventional). Scale effect in literature is examined for very specific problems. For the purpose of the oil and gas industry there is a clear need for more general solutions, which will therefore have wider application. A computational experiment on the deduced model data was conducted as a result of the interpretation of the real reservoir rocks. Diversity in measured and analyzed data (where scale effect was used) was stimulated with relatively simple mathematical functions. The results of model calculations were statistically analyzed and focused on the disclosure of existing regularities connected with field characteristics.
This paper deals with models of air pollution inside a tunnel tube. Various gases are emitted by combustion engines. They consist largely of oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, steam and particles (opacity). Since each tunnel is unique, the design of the model must be realized for the particular road tunnel. Data measured in the control center of the tunnel is used to create various models and to realize them in the program environment MATLAB. It is possible to describe this system by description of the equations of physical dependences. These physical dependencies are between the speeds, piston effect, traffic density, quantity produced pollution, etc. Next we plan to show how fuzzy sets can be used to represent a real system. Finally, we are going to describe this system by the parametric model. For the purpose of parametric identification it is interesting to describe the sought process using input-output relations. The general procedure for estimation of the process model consists of several steps: determination of the model structure, estimation of parameters and verification of the model.
For the tuning of servo controllers as well as for monitoring functions, significant parameters of the controlled system are required. In contrast to identification methods with determined input signals, the paper focuses on the problem of identification with regular process movements (non-invasive identification), leading to a lack of power density in some frequency ranges. A nonlinear Least Squares (LS) approach with single mass system and friction characteristic is investigated regarding the accomplishable accuracy and necessary constraints. The proposed method is applicable on industrial motion controllers and has been carried out with a multitude of input sequences. To verify the performance of the approach, achieved experimental results for the model parameters are exposed.
This paper considers a method for indirect measuring the vertical displacement of wheels resulting from the road profile, using an inverse parametric data-driven model. Wheel movement is required in variable damping suspension systems, which use an onboard electronic control system that improves ride quality and vehicle handling in typical maneuvres. This paper presents a feasibility study of such an approach which was performed in laboratory conditions. Experimental validation tests were conducted on a setup consisting of a servo-hydraulic test rig equipped with displacement, force and acceleration transducers and a data-acquisition system. The fidelity and adequacy of various parametric SISO model structures were evaluated in the time domain based on correlation coefficient, FPE and AIC criteria. The experimental test results showed that inverse models provide accuracy of inversion, ranging from more than 70% for the ARX model structure to over 90% for the OE model structure.
Today, a cascaded system of position loop, velocity loop and current loop is standard in industrial motion controllers. The exact knowledge of significant parameters in the loops is the basis for the tuning of the servo controllers. A new method to support the commissioning has been developed. It enables the user to identify the moment of inertia as well as the time constant of the closed current loop simultaneously. The method is based on the auto relay feedback experiment by Aström and Hägglund. The model parameters are automatically adjusted according to the time behaviour of the controlled system. For this purpose, the auto relay feedback experiment is combined with the technique of gradual pole compensation. In comparison to other existing methods, this approach has the advantage that a parametric model for the open velocity loop is derived directly.

Purpose: This paper deals with a method for the parametric system identification of a nonlinear system to obtain its parametric representation using a linear transfer function. Such representation is applicable in off-line profile correction methods minimizing the error between a reference input signal and a signal performed by the test rig. In turn, a test signal can be perfectly tracked by a servo-hydraulic test rig. This is the requirement in massive production where short test sequences are repeated to validate the products. Design/methodology/approach: A numerical and experimental case studies are presented in the paper. The numerical study presents a system identification process of a nonlinear system consisting of a linear transfer function and a nonlinear output component, being a static function. The experimental study presents a system identification process of a nonlinear system which is a servo-hydraulic test rig. The simulation data has been used to illustrate the feasibility study of the proposed approach, while the experimental data have been used to validate advanced model structures under operational conditions. Findings: The advanced model structures confirmed their better performance by means of the model fit in the time domain. Research limitations/implications: The method applies to analysis of such mechanical and hydraulic systems for which measurements are corrupted by residual harmonic disturbances resulting from system nonlinearities. Practical implications: The advanced model structures are intended to be used as inverse models in off-line signal profile correction. Originality/value: The results state the foundation for the off-line parametric error cancellation method which aims in improving tracking of load signals on servo-hydraulic test rigs.

The aim of many techniques on the diagnostics of mechanical structures is to determine their technical state and, if found to be unsatisfactory, to localize faults and assess their severity. Conventional diagnostic systems provide techniques that use parameter-based or output-based approaches to detecting structural changes in a system. This paper considers a method for the reconstruction of sine-wave excitation using an inverse data-driven model. Model inversion is feasible if the model structure is known, if its parameters have already been identified, and if the system is time-invariant and linear. Numerical simulations and experimental investigations have been performed to show the feasibility of the proposed approach. Various system identification and inversion scenarios have been carried out for SISO and MIMO models to examine the selected model structures and to reconstruct the load. Examples are provided to illustrate issues that may affect potential application, e.g. the sensitivity of the inversion method to sensor location, model structure, and the system identification method.

This paper deals with a method for the parametric system identification of a nonlinear system consisting of a linear transfer function and a nonlinear output component, being a static function. The aim of this paper is to discuss and illustrate the case of identifying such a nonlinear system using various linear model structures. The method applies to modal analysis of such mechanical structures for which measurements are corrupted by residual harmonic disturbances resulting from system nonlinearities. The paper considers transfer function model structures that ensure low computational cost and are suitable for hardware implementation, that is, for cases where pure or hybrid nonlinear system identification methods, like neural network models or the Hammerstain-Wiener model, are too time consuming and thus not practical. Simulation data has been used to illustrate the feasibility and numerical performance of the proposed approach.
