Air Products has completed development of a new Cleanfire(R® HRi Burners - third generation of oxy-fuel burners. This new state-of-the-art burner was designed and developed making use of the company's in-house glass team resources: combustion labs, Combustion Centre of Excellence, cross-industry knowledge of industrial combustion processes, computational fluid dynamic modelling expertise, and specific knowledge of glassmaker's melting requirements. The technology was designed to further improve the production rate and glass quality benefits that have driven most past installations, and to significantly impact emissions and fuel usage. Recent fossil fuel price increases and environmental regulations have increased the economic importance of preserving fuel and reducing emissions. Several glass manufacturers have put the technology to the test and report very positive results. This paper will provide a review of the technology, how it has positively influenced glass melting and results from installations.

The average consumption of oxygen in metallurgical furnaces has increased. Metallurgical industry tend towards large-scale introduction of oxygen into the metallurgical furnaces by means of oxy-fuel burners. Several manufacturers offer suitable burners (injectors). It must be located in such a way that there is a much shorter distance for the jets to travel (between orifice of the burner and molten steel level).

W piecach hutniczych wzrosło średnie zużycie tlenu. W hutnictwie żelaza występuje tendencja do wprowadzania tlenu na dużą skalę do pieców hutniczych przy użyciu palników tlenowo-paliwowych. Kilku producentów oferuje odpowiednie palniki inżektorowe. Trzeba je umiejscowić w taki sposób, aby odległość, jaką pokonuje strumień tlenu, była jak najmniejsza (odległość między dyszą palnika a poziomem ciekłej stali).
