Transformable Warning Clothing for Children with Active Light Sources

Warning clothing for children should meet several requirements in the field of safety and functionalities. Technical and technological development has brought many different benefits. One of them are active light sources that can be used to improve the visibility of the user of given clothing products in situations, where the risk of being invisible is high. Therefore, the transformable clothing with the use of side emitting polymer optical fiber increases the child visibility in the traffic compared to the situation, when the safety was guaranteed only by reflective materials. The scientific problem to be solved was the design of transformable clothing, followed by the integration of traffic light systems with transformable children's clothing, which should increase the child's safety on the road. Transformability, as a feature of the product, should not interfere with the child's visibility. At a later stage of work, visioility tests on the transformable children's clothing set prototype were carried out according to the proposed research methodology. The visibility of system has been assessed both from the point of view of the arrangement of traffic light elements as well as their optoelectronic parameters, such as illuminance, the color of the optical fiber cover, and so on.

Modern children's clothing is characterised not only by the diversity of forms and rich ornamentation but also, primarily, by the specificity of these clothing products that guarantees their safety of use, functionality and shaping of the personality characteristics of the child. The world of children’s fashion takes into account current trends, paying particular attention to its practical aspects. An important role in the design of children’s clothing can be played by transformable clothing, which supports the child in its normal psychophysical development, as well as parents in economic terms. Surveys carried out show the opinions of children and parents regarding transformable clothing.

Nowoczesne ubiory dziecięce charakteryzują się nie tylko różnorodnością form czy bogatym zdobnictwem, ale przede wszystkim muszą uwzględniać specyfikę tych wyrobów odzieżowych, gwarantując bezpieczeństwo użytkowania, funkcjonalność i kształtując cechy osobowości dziecka. Świat mody dziecięcej uwzględnia aktualne trendy, w szczególności zwracając uwagę na jej aspekt praktyczny. Ważną rolę w projektowaniu odzieży dziecięcej może mieć odzież przekształcalna, która wspiera dziecko w prawidłowym rozwoju psychofizycznym, a rodziców – pod względem ekonomicznym. Przeprowadzone badania ankietowe pokazują opinie dzieci i rodziców dotyczące przekształcalnej odzieży.

Wyroby odzieżowe należą do grupy produktów, z którymi człowiek ma bezpośredni kontakt już od pierwszych dni swojego życia. Muszą zatem spełniać szereg wymagań zapewniających dzieciom bezpieczeństwo użytkowania, ponieważ są one mało odporne i niedostatecznie chronione przed niebezpieczeństwami świata zewnętrznego. Dlatego też, Zakład Certyfikacji TEXTIL-CERT w Łodzi na podstawie przeprowadzonych, w oparciu o odpowiednie normy, badań udziela certyfikaty, które potwierdzają bezpieczeństwo dziecięcych wyrobów odzieżowych.

Therefore, Textile Research Institute TEXTIL-CERT in Lodz on the basis of tests in accordance with appropriate standards of research, provides certificates, which confirm the safety of children's wares.

Wzornictwo odzieży dziecięcej cechuje się przede wszystkim funkcjonalnością, dbałością o dobór materiałów i różnorodnością form. Dziecięce wyroby odzieżowe powinny uwzględniać komfort fizyczny dziecka, pozwalający na swobodne poruszanie się oraz komfort psychiczny związany z odczuciami estetycznymi. Odzież dziecięca powinna być również łatwa w konserwacji, co jest bardzo ważne, ze względu na aktywny tryb życia najmłodszych. Cechy użytkowe odzieży w połączeniu z bogatą kolorystyką i odpowiednio dobranymi elementami zdobniczymi wpływają na prawidłowy rozwój psychofizyczny dzieci.

The design of children’s clothing is characterized first of all by a functionalism, attention to the selection of materials and diversity of forms. Children’s garments should take into account the physical development of the child allowing to perform the movements and psychical development of appropriate aesthetic features and sense of artistic taste. Children’s clothing should also be easy to care, which is very important because of an active lifestyle of toddlers. Practical and functional features of clothing for children are combined with rich colours and appropriately selected decorative elements, which undoubtedly impact their normal psycho-physical development.
