The article presents a case study; an analysis and a proposal concerning the improvement of the conditions of occupational health and safety in a reloading terminal of a logistics company. The specificity of the workplace means that employees are exposed to a permanent overload of the musculoskeletal system, which is determined in the process of transporting loads of significant mass. After the analysis, the introduction of changes in the conditions of safe and hygienic work at selected positions was suggested. Qualitative research using the observation method, as well as a quantitative approach after introducing changes in working conditions show a change in employees' attitudes to their work, as well as their higher performance. After a year of operation of the proposed and introduced changes, it was decided to introduce them for new employees and external companies working at the transshipment terminal.

In this article special emphasis is placed on the importance of underground mining worldwide, in the Country of Mexico and in the State of Guanajuato, thereby generating the hiring of operational personnel to perform the main activities of this sector such as blasting, use of machinery and equipment, exploitation, fortification and amacize. Occupational accidents and diseases occur as a result of the aforementioned activities since the conditions in which workers work are not the most appropriate. To help improve working conditions, the decision matrix risk-assessment (DMRA) technique was applied, in which accidents are classified according to their severity and probability, in order to perform an assessment of the risks and identify the activities that should continue in the same manner, those that require control measures and, as a last resort, those activities that must stop. At the end of the study, corrective actions are proposed that can help to avoid the occurrence of the accidents presented, through the application of occupational safety and health regulations issued by the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social, which is a government entity that is responsible for both the issuing of and compliance with those regulations. Also establishes the obligations that must be documented according to rules that are applicable to mining activities.

Occupational accidents on board criteria determining is a challenging procedure in shipping industry as the ideal safety ship management strategy depends on many factors involving in shipping transportation There are many legislations, agreements and practices to obtain series of security measures in order to ensure safety and security of seafarers. Causes of on-board occupational accidents need to be evaluated in a correct manner to regulate more functional practices and also to lower the on-board accident rates. However, causes of on-board accidents can be extremely complex. Therefore, scientific methods should be used to evaluate the causes and to determine the measures to be taken. The evaluation of the parameters is of great importance for the future of the maritime sector and in terms of development. In this study, factors have been identified that lead to seafarers? occupational accidents on board and we tried to present alternative solutions which can be applied on this issue. Severity of the reasons that led to the accidents and their relationships with each other are identified to be able to sort through the alternative solutions with a model using the fuzzy AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method approach. Results of the study revealed that the most important criteria for the occupational accidents on board criteria selection are respectively; human factors, lack of management, ship-borne troubles, cargo troubles and environmental factors.

Introduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the trend of occupational injuries in Turkey using epidemiologic criteria such as incidence mortality and fatality/all injuries recorded – rates. Materials and methods. Safety and health data were obtained from the Annual Statistic Books of the Social Insurance Institution (1988–2006) and Social Security Institution (2007–2011) of Turkey. Results. The results from the official data showed that although total employment is increasing the number of occupational injuries and incidence and mortality rates are decreasing. The results also demonstrate that occupational fatality/all injuries recorded – rate is increasing. The fatality/all injuries recorded – rate per 1000 injuries increased to 25.5 in 2011 from 8.6 in 1988. Each work day an average of five people died because of occupational injuries. Discussion and conclusions. The fatality/all injuries recorded – rate (the number of fatal cases per 1000 occupational injuries) is an important indicator of the injury rate for a country. Systems of occupational injury and illness surveillance constitute a critical resource for the management and reduction of occupational injuries and illness.

Despite of the always growing attention to safety related topics, the enforcement of directives, regulations and technical standards and the improvement of technical solutions aimed to minimize the occupational risks, the number of people dying every day at workplaces is still excessively high. The overall number of injuries is recently decreasing, but both the frequency and the total yearly number of fatalities still remain fundamentalny unchanged in the last years. The main problem with accidental data, as officially reported, is that very often, no evaluation is possible in terms of root causes, e.g. standard violations. Since the target of the analysis is the determination of the causal chain of events that lead to the accident to understand how it happened and how to avoid the occurrence of similar situations, the lack of detailed information lead to many difficulties in the definition of the suitable prevention measures. This paper shows three different, but integrated. methods able to collect, manage and analyze the information related to occurred accidents for preventive purposes.

This study aimed to determine the factors attributed to occupational fatalities occurring in the region of East Attica, Greece, in all industry types over a 5-year period preceding the 2004 Olympic Games. Questionnaires, based on the attribution theory, were completed by labor inspectors and were analyzed with principal component analysis. The results showed that most accidents occurred in the construction industry due to large-scale civil works, which took place in East Attica prior to the 2004 Olympic Games. Poor work practices arising from lack of orientation and job training, performance pressure and workers’ inexperience associated with knowledge- and skill-based errors were revealed by the questionnaire as the most common factors attributed to occupational fatalities. Our findings help to identify areas where prevention efforts should be directed to effectively manage safety in Greece.

The terminology used to designate falls on the level is broadly based and the accidents concerned are only very rarely defined explicitly. A definition of falls on the level in occupational situations is therefore proposed. We attempt to define the issue represented by the prevention of such accidents on the basis of statistical data, prior to explaining the twin objectives focused on in the field of their prevention. We then propose a summary of unbalance risk factors in occupational situations. These factors are associated with different components of the occupational situation they concern: individuals, their tasks, the equipment used, or the working environment. The diversity of accident contexts and different in-company prevention possibilities are thereby highlighted. Finally, we discuss a number of consequences in prevention terms.
