The constructions of multi-layer disc electric generators with compact dimensional packing of magnetic and current layers are considered. The structures of topological generators, namely the superconductor generators, high-voltage capacitance generators and inductive generators with the electromagnetic or permanent magnet excitation are described and discussed. Main operating principles of multi-layer axialradial generators with the commutation of magnetic flux are discussed. The topological generator structures are a proof of the advantage of the multi-layer axialradial electromechanical energy converters over conventional ones. The paper covers broad range of power generators and presents separate technical solutions on further development of the topological generator design. The different type generator constructions with excitation from the high-energy permanent magnets, with electromagnetic excitation and with commutation of magnetic flux are presented. The proposed design solutions appear suitable for the use in autonomous power electric systems as well as for the applications requiring minimum mass and overall dimensions.
