The article describes a workflow system implementation project in a production company. A modern enterprise must operate efficiently and effectively. Efficiency defines activities aimed at obtaining the best possible results with minimum investment. The introduction of a new solution in the area of document management allowed to increase efficiency by reducing the workload on creating documents. The concept of workflow was defined and the situation in the company was described. Based on the analyzes, a new solution in the area of document management was proposed by implementing the workflow system. Maps of new document management processes were developed. The effect of introducing the workflow system is primarily the automation of creating all types of documents and full control over the flow of documents.

Modelowanie procesów biznesowych wyznacza regularne procesy biznesowe i znajduje sposoby na ich ulepszanie. Jest to część praktyki zarządzania procesami biznesowymi. Oprogramowanie do modelowania procesów zapewnia analityczną reprezentację procesów „takich, jakie są” w organizacji i kontrastuje je z „przyszłymi” procesami w celu zwiększenia ich wydajności. W postawieniu pierwszego kroku w modelowaniu pomogą pióro i papier. Aby jednak rzeczywiście uruchomić proces biznesowy, trzeba go zdigitalizować w sposób, jaki będzie zrozumiały przez silnik workflow. Narzędzia do modelowania procesów biznesowych umożliwiają reprezentowanie procesu w sposób cyfrowy, który można następnie zautomatyzować i zaprezentować na żywo.

Modeling of business processes determined by regular business processes and functions of ways to improve them. This is part of the business process management practice. Process modeling software behind some analytical representation of “as-is” processes in organization and in contrast with “future” processes for their performance. The first step in modeling is pen and paper. But to actually run a business process, you need to digitize that process in a way that the workflow engine understands. Modeling tools for business processes that represent a process in a digital way that can be applied to an automated live process.

W dziedzinie procesów biznesowych najbardziej popularne jest modelowanie Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN). BPMN jest istotny z praktycznego punktu widzenia, a przy tym oferuje wiele wyzwań dla programistów i naukowców. Specyfikacja diagramu BPMN jest stosunkowo precyzyjna, ale jest to tylko forma opisowa prezentowana na abstrakcyjnym poziomie graficznym. Większość prac w tym obszarze skoncentrowanych jest na wykorzystaniu możliwości, jakie oferuje notacja BPMN. Jednak wciąż nie ma dokumentów analizujących ewentualne błędy oraz sposoby ich wykrywania i eliminowania. Celem artykułu jest próba analizy zagadnienia anomalii, które mogą wystąpić w notacji BPMN. Badanie opiera się na analizie literatury oraz własnym doświadczeniu z modelowania w języku BPMN. Przeprowadzone analizy pozwoliły na zidentyfikowanie kilku najczęściej występujących rodzajów anomalii: strukturalnych i składniowych.

In the field of business process modeling the most popular is the Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN). BPMN is relevant from a practical point of view while at the same it offers many challenges for software developers and scientists. Specification of a BPMN diagram is relatively precise, but it is only a descriptive form presented at some abstract, graphical level. Most of the work in this area is focused on the use of the possibilities offered by BPMN notation. However, there is still no document analyzing the errors and how to detect and eliminate. The article attempts to analyze issues anomalies that may occur in the BPMN notation. The survey is based on the analysis of literature and own experience of modeling in BPMN. Analyzes allowed us to identify a few of the most common types of anomalies: syntactic anomalies, and structural anomalies.

W przypadku przedsiębiorstwa opisanego w artykule jako pierwszy uruchamiany jest proces statusowania produktu. W artykule przedstawiono model procesu statusowania nowego wyrobu w systemie zarządzania danymi podstawowymi - SAP. Proces do zamodelowania został wybrany z mapy procesów firmy. Jest on istotny dla całości realizacji produkcji nowego wyrobu. Do zaprojektowania przedmiotowego procesu wykorzystano dedykowane narzędzie informatyczne.

Logistics processes in manufacturing companies are focused on issues related to sales and distribution, production planning, materials management and supply. In the entire logistics chain one of the most important is the process of production planning. Especially when it concerns the production of a new product. In the case of the company described in the article starts the statusing of the product. The article presents a model of the statusing of the new product in the data management system master-SAP. The process of modeling has been selected from the map business processes. It is important to fully implement the production of a new product. For the design of the process it uses a dedicated IT tool.

The paper presents the results of case study analysis conducted to assess the benefits of system implementation. The research was carried out in Polish recruitment company. We assessed the benefits of recruitment system implementation using the perspectives of a Balanced Scorecard and, in particular, the modelling and measurement of the main processes of recruitment. We designed indicators of the organization’s performance and we measured them before system implementation (as-is state) and after possible implementation (can-be state). This procedure allowed us to determine changes which the recruitment system could make, and also permitted to take a final decision on whether to invest or discontinue planning implementation.

IT tools supporting the BPM approach developed rapidly in the last 10 years. Initially were available simple solutions for modeling and optimization of business processes. The next generation has offered business process implementation and monitoring in the real environment of the organization. Finally user requirements forced vendors to add a bit of “intelligence” to their applications and iBPMS entered on the market. The iBMPS market is still immature but some trends can be seen. The source for such analysis can be found in analytical reports provided by renowned research and advisory companies. In this paper was presented analysis of BPMS and iBMPS markets based on Gartner’s Magic Quadrant reports from years: 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

In the process modelling literature, also as a part of any business modelling activity methodologies, there are no explicit texts about best practices. Additionally, business process modelling is a part of different (approximately 30) business and enterprise modelling architectures, references and frameworks. The paper addresses the following questions: What is the best way to undertake business process modelling? What procedures and core activities are essential during stages of modelling? Złożoność BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) jest powodem trudności w poprawnym stosowaniu notacji. celem artykułu jest identyfikacja najważniejszych problemów, jakie sprawia wykorzystanie BPMN w różnych aspektach zarządzania procesami. Autor dokonał przeglądu publikacji związanych z zarządzaniem procesowym, ale niezwiązanych bezpośrednio z analizą systemów informacyjnych, w których wykorzystano do ilustracji BPMN. na tej podstawie zidentyfikowano najczęściej występujące błędy syntaktyczne w modelowaniu za pomocą BPMN i oceniono skalę tego zjawiska. Analiza wykazała, że największe trudności sprawia poprawne zastosowanie przepływów komunikatów oraz zdarzeń typu komunikat, a także rozróżnienie uczestników i wykonawców oraz ich poprawne reprezentowanie na diagramach w postaci basenów i torów.

The complexity of BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) is the cause of difficulties in the correct use of the notation. This article aims to identify the most important problems of BPMN usage in various aspects of process management. The author conducted a review of articles illustrated with BPMN diagrams and related to process management, but not directly related to the analysis of information systems. On that basis, the most common syntactic errors in BPMN modeling were identified and the scale of that phenomenon was assessed. The analysis showed that the greatest difficulties were associated with the correct application of message flows, message events, as well as with the distinction of participants and actors, and their proper representation in the diagrams in the form of pools and lanes.

W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono proces oceny pracowników instytucji szkolnictwa wyższego (Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu w Dąbrowie Górniczej) pokazany i zanalizowany jako typowy proces biznesowy. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie studium przypadku modelowania procesów biznesowych dla konkretnej organizacji jako środka do poprawy zrozumienia procesu. Omówiono skuteczność samego procesu modelowania jako metody przeglądu opisu procesu. Do analizy wykorzystano część metodologii oceny bezpieczeństwa, zaproponowaną w poprzednich pracach wraz z Instytutem EMAG w Katowicach. Studium przypadku jest w pełni przedstawione i opisane; pokazane modelowanie procesu za pomocą diagramu EPC pozwoliło na przeprowadzenie analizy o większym stopniu skuteczności niż wywiady z doświadczonymi pracownikami, będącymi właścicielami procesu.

In this paper, the assessment process of the staff of higher education institution (Academy of Business in Dabrowa Gornicza) as a business process is shown. The aim of the paper is to present case-study of business process modeling for a specific organization as a means for improvement of the process understanding. The effectiveness of the modeling process itself as a review of the process description is discussed. For the analysis, we use a part of security assessment methodology, proposed in previous works with EMAG Institute in Katowice, Poland. The case study is presented and described. The model shown led to more complete and effective analysis than the interviews with experienced employees and process owners.

The paper presents the findings of the ease of understanding tests for selected business process modelling notations as an element of diagnosing the notations information potential. The easiest-to-understand notation is identified, as well as the attributes determining the choice of this notation as the easiest to understand. Three notations used in business process modelling have been subjected to diagnosis: EPC, BPMS and BPMN. Based on the results of these analyses, recommendations have been formulated for organisations where process modelling requires the involvement of all employees and where process awareness needs to be developed. Using an intuitive notation may contribute to improved communication between users representing different professional profiles and translate into a higher effectiveness of organisational changes.

In this paper the author proposes a change in business modelling techniques classification, based on the results of research and a review of modern workflow systems. The described amendment has an impact on applicable – commercial approaches to continuous business process improvement. It fits the gap between the commercial need for easy understandable tool (based on widely-used diagrams) for analysts and researchers’ preference for working with well-defined mathematical models.

The paper presents selected results of model and implementation research concerning the design of a management information system (MIS) to support the functioning of office administration offering sale of services. The application was tested with view to implementation in the Association for Promotion and Scientific Innovations Implementation (AP&SII or Association). The following issues were discussed: methods of organization management modelling, suitable software, available tools supporting modelling, methods of implementation of models in organization systems, etc. E-Bureau information system is an application developed using Eclipse platform with the following plug-ins installed, namely Data Base Development Tools and PHP Development Tools. The system is based on libraries, i.a. Zend, BootStrap, JQuery. The following programming tools were used: CSS, JavaScript, HTML, PHP.

The Polish criminal procedure is strictly based on the Polish Constitution and complex legislation. It involves many steps, phases and stages and creates very complex processes that are composed of multiple sub-processes and activities. Nowadays, the participants of the Polish criminal procedure are provided with modern IT limitedly. Increase the effectiveness of criminal justice is possible via changes in both organizational and procedural way, as well as through the IT technologies supporting the processing of information at any stage of a criminal proceeding. We propose two-way analysis of the criminal procedure: modelling and simulation of the process similarly to Business Processes Modelling (BPM), which forms the basis for measuring and assessing an effectiveness, and optimization based on hybrid models and methods: GAN/GERT with queuing theory and optimization. The practical result of this work is the workflow system extended with the business process simulator.

Wypracowanie szeregu rozwiązań dla sieci inteligentnych (smart grid) umożliwiło sformułowanie idei rynku mikrogridów, rozumianego jako miejsce wymiany towarów i usług na zasadach rynkowych w obszarze mikrogridu. Kon-cepcja rynku mikrogridów jest szczególnie atrakcyjna ze względu na potencjalne korzyści związane z łagodzeniem negatywnych skutków rosnącej liczby źródeł odnawialnych w sieci dystrybucyjnej. Aby realizować cele rynku mikrogridów konieczna jest co najmniej częściowa automatyzacja handlu. Standardowe podejście polega na wykorzystaniu systemów wieloagentowych i delegacji uprawnień do agentów programistycznych. Podejście takie rodzi jednak szereg problemów, z czego najbardziej istotne zagadnienia rozważamy w niniejszym artykule: problem dostępności technologicznej systemów wieloagentowych oraz problem dostosowania procesów decyzyjnych uczestników mikrogridu w zmiennych warunkach. Jako rozwiązanie pierwszego problemu proponujemy udostępnienie funkcjonalności systemów wieloagentowych na rynku mikrogridów w architekturze zorientowanej na usługi, która może być łatwo i niskokosztowo osiągalna w sposób masowy. Takie podejście jednocześnie wspiera zarządzanie procesami związanymi z interakcją na rynku mikrogridów poprzez me-chanizmy orkiestracji procesów i podejście zorientowane na model (model-driven approach).

The latest developments in smart grid field have enabled the formulation of microgrid market idea understood as a commodities and services exchange on the market rules. The idea of microgrid market is particularly attractive due to potential benefits of mitigating the negative effects of increasing number of renewable energy sources in a distribution network. To achieve the aims of microgrid in this field, at least partial automation of trade is required. The standard approach is to use the multi-agent systems (MAS) and to delegate rights to software agents. In the paper we consider two issues: the problem of accessibility of MAS technology and the problem of adaptation of microgrids participation decision processes in a changing conditions. To solve the first issue we have proposed to provide the functionality of MAS on a microgrids market as a service-oriented architecture (SOA), which is reachable on a large scale. Such an approach supports also the management of processes related to the interactions on a microgrid market with processes orchestration and model-driven approach.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane wyniki badań wykonanych w ramach projektu badawczo-rozwojowego budowy platformy cyfrowej „Prototyp Platformy Usług e-Biznesowych” dotyczących operacji procesu sprzedaży towarów i usług. Prezentowane badania koncentrują się na budowie modelu referencyjnego procesu sprzedaży towarów i usług celem zaimplementowania go w ramach usług e-biznesowych. W ramach prowadzonych badań poddano ocenie pracochłonność realizowanych operacji na losowo dobranej próbie 300 przedsiębiorstw sektora MŚP. Przeprowadzone obserwacje przyczyniły się do wyselekcjonowania kluczowych operacji podlegających potrzebie automatyzacji i implementacji w systemie komputerowo wspomaganego zarządzania udostępnianego w ramach usługi (Software as a Service).

In this paper the results of the studies carried out within the framework of the project research and development of digital platform construction "The Prototype of the e-Business Services Platform" relating to the operations of sale of goods and services process are presented. Presented studies focus on the construction of the reference model of the process of selling goods and services in order to implement it within the framework of the e-business. Within the framework of the research have been evaluating the effort carried out operations on a randomly selected sample of 300 enterprises, the SME sector. Carried out observations contributed to the selection of key operations are subject to the need for automation and implementation in computer-aided management system made available through the service (Software as a Service).

The key elements of every organization functioning are: a strategy of acting and processes realized in the organization. So it is obvious, that the modern approach to the problems of management is based on business processes paradigm. The identification of business processes and the analysis or the optimisation of processes can be realized in the track of modelling procedure. The method of system dynamics is a modelling method permitting on carrying out the simulation experiments giving the prognosis of consequences of decisions on the future situation of the organization. This method is the perfect supplement of the modelling business processes approach proposed in the environment of Aris or iGrafx. The article presents the example of use of system dynamics method for modelling the business processes in an industrial enterprise.
