Purpose: identification of possibilities of using quality management methods and tools to improve maintenance processes. Design/methodology/approach: the tools used were adjusted to the results of cognitive interview and maturity analysis of maintenance process carried out among representatives of various levels of the organization's management, based on an original tool. Findings: it was found that the level of maturity of the process is in the chaotic phase, despite the fact that the company implemented integrated management systems, quality management methods and tools are not systematically used in the process; it seems, however, the needs in this area are very large. Research limitations/implications: the study was conducted on the basis of only one process, in one workplace; only on the basis of own observations it can be concluded that other processes in this plant, as well as similar ones, will show similar deficiencies, which should, however, be subjected to a deeper analysis. Practical implications: it can be assumed that the research results presented in this paper, as well as the proposed practical solutions, may support not only the process under study, but also completely different processes; the study seems to indicate the need of educating the managers in the field of practical skills for improving the processes in the organizations. Originality/value: the study proposes the use of an original tool for measuring process maturity as an entrance to further steps, it also presents the possibility of using tools, the process of their implementation in an actual process, as well as barriers encountered.

Cel: Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie koncepcji standaryzacji działań jako metody doskonalenia na przykładzie procesu produkcji wanien i brodzików akrylowych. Projekt badania/metodyka badawcza/koncepcja: W pracy wykorzystano następujące metody badawcze: przegląd i analizę literatury przedmiotu, metodę studium przypadku, metodę obserwacji oraz analizę danych wtórnych, metodę pracy koncepcyjnej i wnioskowania logicznego. Wyniki/wnioski: Zastosowanie zaproponowanych koncepcji doskonalenia opartych na standaryzacji działań umożliwiło zidentyfikowanie obszarów wymagających poprawy oraz przyczyniło się do lepszej organizacji procesów badanej organizacji. Ograniczenia: Ograniczeniamogą dotyczyć dostępu jedynie do wybranych informacji przekazanych przez badane przedsiębiorstwo. Zastosowanie praktyczne: Zaprezentowane pomysły standaryzacji działań z powodzeniem mogą znaleźć zastosowanie w przedsiębiorstwach, które stosują standaryzację jako element doskonalenia procesów. Oryginalność/wartość poznawcza: Zaprezentowane studium przypadku pozwala zrozumieć praktyczne apekty standaryzacji działań w przedsiębiorstwach.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to present the standardization of activities as a method of improvement. The example of a company manufacturing baths and acrylic shower trays. Design/methodology/approach: The following research methods were used in the work: literature review and analysis, case study method, observation method and secondary data analysis, as well as the method of conceptual work and logical inference. Findings/conclusions: The implementation of the proposed improvement concepts based on standardization of activities made it possible to identify areas requiring improvement and contributed to a better organization of the processes of the examined organization. Research limitations: Restrictions may apply to access only to selected information provided by the examined enterprise. Practical implications: The presented ideas of standardization of activities can be successfully applied in companies that use standardization as an element of process improvement. Originality/value: The presented case study helps to understand the practical aspects of standardization of activities in enterprises.

Companies should constantly seek the causes and sources of irregularities. For this purpose, known and widely used quality management methods and tools should be used. Thanks to them, organizations will be able to identify key irregularities and then seek solutions for correction and improvement. Achieving high reliability of products, companies are able to fully meet their consumers’ needs. The paper explains the basic concepts related to quality. However, the most important issue is to present an example of solution using the Poka Yoke method, for an electronics company. The company specializes in the production and development of electronic and electromechanical components, for industries of different categories: household appliances, energy, automotive. The presented solution for improvement concerns modernization of workstations.

Głównym celem artykułu jest identyfikacja i ocena obszarów niezgodności ram luminiowych. W artykule wykorzystano metodę zarządzania jakością, jaką jest analiza FMEA. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań określono priorytetowe dla badanego produktu niezgodności. Kolejnym etapem było wskazanie działań korygujących. Zastosowanie analizy FMEA pomogło określić przyczyny oraz skutki potencjalnych niezgodności. Wykorzystana metoda pozwoliła zbadać główne błędy występujące podczas produkcji ram aluminiowych.

The main purpose of the article is to identify and assess areas of discrepancies of the aluminum framework. The article uses the method of quality management, which is the FMEA analysis. As a result of the tests carried out using the FMEA method, the noncompliances priority for the tested product was determined. The next stage was the indication of corrective actions. The use of FMEA analysis helped to determine the causes and effects of potential nonconformities. The method also allowed to examine the main errors occurring the production of aluminum frames.

The article presents a plan for the control of prefabricated products one of the companies as an effective tool for identifying non-compliance of supplied materials to the manufacturing process. It has been shown that the results of research carried out on the basis of the presented plan are the basis for negotiations with contractors and affect change in board decisions in terms of contracts with suppliers, and also indirectly affect the cost reduction of complaints and downtime. They provide the basis for faster decisions on corrective actions and complaints.

W artykule przedstawiono opracowany plan kontroli pół-produktów dla jednej z firm jako skuteczne narzędzie do identyfikacji nie-zgodności dostarczanych materiałów do procesu produkcji. Wykazano, że wyniki badań przeprowadzonych przy wykorzystaniu zaprezentowanego planu stanowią podstawę do negocjacji z kontrahentami i wpływają na zmiany decyzji zarządu w kwestii umów z dostawcami, a także pośrednio wpływają na obniżenie kosztów reklamacji i przestojów. Są też podstawą do szybszego podejmowania decyzji w sprawie działań naprawczych i reklamacyjnych.

W artykule omówiona została analiza przyczyn i skutków wad w procesie logistycznym dostawy surowców, zgodnie z wytycznymi podręcznika referencyjnego AIAG. Przedstawiono mapę analizowanego procesu i zidentyfikowano czynniki wpływające na proces. Zgodnie z przyjętymi kryteriami oceny wyliczono liczbę priorytetową ryzyka dla zdiagnozowanych niezgodności i zaproponowano działania korygujące celem ograniczenia wielkości ryzyka.

The article discussed the analysis of the causes and effects of defects in the selected logistics process. It showed the process map and identified the factors influencing the process. It established evaluation criteria and calculated the risk priority number for the diagnosed failures. It proposed corrective actions to reduce the size of the risk.

Wykorzystanie narzędzia zarządzania jakością jakim jest Diagram Ishikavy w małej firmie kaletniczej pozwala na przeprowadzenie dokładnej analizy. Dotyczy ona uszeregowania występujących przyczyn niezgodności oraz tego jakie powiązania panują między nimi. Problemy występujące w firmie pogrupowane zostały w oparciu o zasadę 5M. Zastosowanie Diagramu Ishikavy znacząco ułatwia przedsiębiorstwu znalezienie przyczyn występujących niezgodności oraz tego w jaki sposób są one ze sobą powiązane. Dzięki temu jest ono w stanie zapobiegać występującym problemom.

Using a quality management tool such as Ishikavy Diagram in a small leather company allows to carry out a preliminary quality analysis. It concerns on the ranking of the nonconformity causes and the relationships between them. The problems in the company have been grouped on the basis of the 5M rule. The use of the Ishikavy Diagram significantly facilitates the company's understanding of the nonconformities causes and help to prevent problems.

Wychodząc od klasycznych podziałów innowacji na innowacje produktowe, procesowe oraz organizacyjne oraz z koncepcji innowacji rutynowych, wymuszonych i wynikających z okazji celem publikacji było określenie możliwości zastosowania metody QFD w przypadku poszczególnych rodzajów innowacji. Dodatkowo podjęto próbę porównania roli metody QFD w omawianym zakresie w porównaniu z innymi narzędziami wykorzystywanymi w zarządzaniu jakością.

The quality parameters of products should be controlled at every stage of the production process, since it allows detection of any problems even in the initial stages of production processes and removes their causes during manufacturing. Final control of products is intended to capture non-conforming products that did not go to the customers. The results of such controls should constantly be analysed. Such analysis can help to detect the most common problems, determine some dependences or identify the causes of such situations. A lot of different instruments that can support improvement of processes can be used for this kind of analysis. The paper presents the possibility of using some tools which can be utilized to support the analysis and assessment of quality of products at different stages of the production process. The quality analysis of exemplary products using selected quality methods and tolls is carried out. Metal sleeve, that is part of electronic control subassembly of anti-blocking system of ABS, which was the research component being studied.

In the paper the basic design features and essential assumption of calculation models as well as the factors influencing quality improvement and improvement of calculation process of bearing capacity of rolling slewing bearings are discussed. The aim of conducted research is the identification and elimination of sources of errors in determining the characteristics of slewing bearing capacity. The result of the research aims at determining the risk of making mistakes and specifying tips for designers of slewing bearings. It is shown that there is a necessity fora numerical method to be applied and that real conditions of bearing work must necessarily be taken into account e.g. carrying structure deformations as the first ones.

Znacząco może to poprawić cały proces produkcyjny, zachęcić do współpracy pracowników wszystkich szczebli, oraz w szybki sposób informować kierownictwo o występujących problemach, co pozwoli na szybką reakcję i zdecydowanie efektywniejszą produkcję.

The use of FMEA analysis on the example of a small company demonstrates that regardless of the size of orders the company can benefit from quality management tools. Can significantly improve the entire production process, to encourage the co-operation of employees at all levels, and to quickly inform management about any problems, which will allow for quick response and definitely more efficient production.

Progressing economic changes force organizations to introduce consistent actions whose aim is to improve processes taking place in them. If undertaken actions are to produce a desired result, they should be accompanied by application of diverse pro-quality tools and methods. On the basis of the conducted research, the author analyzes the usefulness of quality management techniques identified as the most frequently utilized in the examined group of companies. Not only does the author discuss the aspect of their usefulness in activities undertaken so far, but she also analyzes entrepreneurs' opinions on potential application of the designated techniques in future.

W artykule omówiono jedną z metod zarządzania jakością – statystyczne sterowanie procesem (SPC). Na przykładzie przedsiębiorstwa produkującego zagłówki samochodowe autorzy zaprezentowali korzyści płynące ze stosowania tej metody. Zwrócono również uwagę, że wykorzystanie metod statystycznych w procesach decyzyjnych wcale nie musi być trudne i czasochłonne, jeżeli będzie wspomagane komputerowo przy użyciu stosunkowo niedrogich narzędzi.

One of methods of the quality management − statistical process control (SPC) has been discussed in the article. On the example of the car headrests producing enterprise benefits from applying this method has been presented. Authors pointed out that using statistical methods in decisionmaking processes must not at all be difficult and time-consuming, if is being supported by a computer at using inexpensive tools.
