The article presents the results of conducted empirical research in which an attempt was made to identify the expectations of manufacturing companies towards suppliers in terms of process (logistics customer service, supervision over property customer, production monitoring, supplier supervision) improvement. The research was conducted using the Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) technique. The research covered 150 production medium and large size companies (employing over 50 people) who were suppliers for enterprises from the automotive, electromechanical and chemical sectors operating in the Polish industrial market. The expectations of production companies towards their suppliers regarding improvement of processes concept were assigned a rank on a scale from one (the least important criterion) to five (the most significant). The analysis of the results of the conducted research shows that the implementation of management tools such as international organizational standards (ISO), Kaizen or Lean Management by companies that are purchasers may affect the expectations towards suppliers in terms of improving their processes. The considerations undertaken in this article confirm that in order to compete on the modern market, close cooperation and cooperation within the supply chain are needed. Representatives of the surveyed manufacturing companies notice this fact and set high expectations for their suppliers in virtually all the surveyed aspects. Conducted research shows that suppliers must pay special attention to the implementation of processes related to ensuring and improving the technical quality of products by focusing on improving control and supervision processes and logistical aspects of customer service. Proper implementation and improvement of these processes requires a methodical approach. Based on the obtained research results, managers of organizations supplying manufacturing companies can obtain important information that will be used to improve processes that are important from the point of view of their recipients. On this basis, they can make an optimal allocation of resources and modify the management style to improve cooperation with manufacturing companies.

Badania podzielono na pięć etapów i zastosowano w nich metodę analizy danych wtórnych (zastanych), metodę monograficzną, metodę analizy porównawczej, metodę syntezy i wnioskowania logicznego.

Purpose: Identification of current management systems standards and their types, and finding links between the requirements of certain standards and the goals of sustainable development. An additional goal is to show which of the systems support the organization in its pursuit of sustainable development in the fullest way. Design/methodology/approach: The work takes into account three perspectives – literature and cognition-based, practical and empirical (research). The research is divided into five stages and the method of secondary (existing) data analysis, the monographic method, the comparative analysis method, and the method of synthesis and logical concluding were used. Findings/conclusions: The catalog of international management systems standards is already very rich and is updated on an ongoing basis, also in terms of sustainable development goals. Organizations with an implemented and improved environmental management system according to ISO 14001 have the best chance to meet all the postulates contained in these goals. The implementation of management systems in an integrated form also increases the organization’s chance to meet most of the postulates contained in the SDGs. The ISO 26000 guidelines are helpful in the implementation of SDGs, however, they cannot be the basis for certification. Research limitations: A limitation, which makes it difficult to collect the results, is the fact that the ISO Survey report is published with a long delay, and the fact that not all the standards discussed are still fully available for purchase on the website of the Polish Committee for Standardization. Practical implications: It has been indicated which standards, and/or their integration, support organizations in implementing sustainable development goals. Originality/value: The research gap was filled by presenting a matrix of relations between the sustainable development goals and management systems in order to demonstrate the potential inherent in these standards and the possibility of using them by organizations to meet the objectives of these goals.

Problems related to work safety have been accompanying humanity since the dawn of time. In times before the Industrial Revolution, human and animal muscle strength was used to work, and "safe work" solutions were developed and introduced individually by the user or supervising the work. Only a change in the way work was done due to the industrial revolution, the introduction of new energy sources, the transformation of manufactories into factories and the birth of the working class brought about greater, concrete changes. It was at that time that various machines and devices began to be introduced into the workplace, which on the one hand improved work and on the other hand created more and more potentially dangerous situations. Security was started holistically and institutionally. With the transformation and return of capitalism, the subject of real work safety returned. Health and safety was to be not only a fashionable slogan, but a value that was supposed to guarantee profit - in accordance with the principle that accidents reduce productivity. It was also connected with the process of adapting Polish law in the field of health and safety to the law of the European Union (EU), which resulted from Poland's pursuit of EU membership. Moreover, an important factor initiating these changes was the interest of enterprises in quality management systems compliant with the ISO 9000 series and environmental management systems compliant with the ISO 14000 series, and related attempts to adapt the system management concept to the area of occupational health and safety, resulting in PN-N standards 18000 series. This publication analyzes the new standard PN-ISO 45001:2018 - "Occupational health and safety management systems - Requirements with guidance for use" comparing it with the standard PN-N 18001:2004 - "Occupational health and safety management. Requirements".
