Offshore wind farms are one of the most important pillars of the successful implementation of the envisaged energy turnaround. However, so far, the States are all far from reaching their targets. Therefore, a great amount of capital is needed. Since a large part of offshore wind farms is financed by debt capital, it was examined which criteria are currently prevailing on the market. The main findings are that cover ratios are the most important key figures in the decision-making process and during the term. In addition, a large number of clauses are contractually fixed to reduce the risk of default.

Sustainable development is a subject of intense discussion, mainly due to climate change, pollution, and increased waste, among other factors. The governments of various countries worldwide have been setting environmental targets for emissions and consumption to combat climate change and improve the state of our planet. Therefore, it is necessary to have an environmental policy with stakeholder engagement. The literature review method, bibliometric analysis, and visual mappings were applied to understand how these sustainable targets are formulated and used by companies to comply with the limits proposed by governments. The Web of Science platform allowed data collection about Lean and Green, Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and Science-Based Targets (SBT). The carried analyses identified the most relevant papers using the PRISMA method, including their authors, their temporal distribution, and a correlation map using the VOSviewer tool. Hence, mapping the current state of the art concerning the SBT topic. Furthermore, a novel conceptual model is proposed to integrate lean and green and create new KPI applied to the definition of SBT to give companies a path and tools to achieve the climate targets efficiently. Future research should focus on the implementation of the conceptual model in several companies to understand its impact to correct and improve the conceptual model proposed.

A turbulent manufacturing market, especially in the metal industry, determines the quality of products and the level of production efficiency, which contributes to a company's market position and competitiveness. The aim of the study was to develop a model to define a manufacturing company’s current market position using KPIs in relation to a key product - gearbox casting. The company's position was defined in terms of the relationship occurring between technological capabilities and market position. An additional aim of the study was to identify critical determinants and, ultimately, to identify conditions for strengthening market position. As a test of the proposed model, the position of the analysed company (in terms of technological capabilities and market position) was defined as “Search for occasions”- box 9 within the 3x3 matrix. Technological determinants that weaken the company’s position (low level of maintenance capacity and long production cycle time) and determinants with a strong negative impact on market position (low level of human resource development) were identified. An element of novelty is the use of KPIs as variables determining the position of the company within the3x3 matrix, which is indicative of a specific technological position in the market. Further lines of research will concern the determination of appropriate KPIs in relation to the identified critical areas of the company. Subsequent steps will concern the implications of the model in relation to the company’s other key aluminium alloy castings.

Background: Humanitarian operations are a key contribution to alleviating human suffering and reducing property damage. The success of these measures is conditioned by the implementation of efficient and sufficiently flexible logistics chains. The specificity of the conditions for the distribution of material aid requires the preparation of a suitable distribution system, the necessary capacities, and the creation of conditions to achieve the flexibility of individual solutions. The key issue for the implementation of the humanitarian aid distribution itself is the identification of suitable performance indicators, considering the specifics in the individual phases of humanitarian aid implementation. Methods: The approach is based on the research and content analysis, followed by creating a conceptual model and workflow diagram using interviews with experts, and identifying key performance indicators for optimization within the case study. Results: The humanitarian supply process was identified through a workflow diagram. A model was built to illustrate a case study of the use of rail transport to the provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine crisis in 2022. Performance indicators are compiled for the model. Recommendations are formulated for the creation of suitable indicators of the performance of humanitarian logistics chains. Conclusion: A gap and research problem in performance improvement and its measurement is identified within humanitarian logistics. This study examines the opportunity to improve the performance of humanitarian distribution to Ukraine in 2021.

Supply chain activity control is an essential part of Supply Chain Management (SCM), ensuring compliance with customer requirements. This paper presents a case study into the control of SCM activities. The study analysed two areas involving two different SC links associated with order picking, and outsourced truck freights, respectively. The studied company had problems with these links. An approach based on developing a KPI (Key Performance Indicator) was proposed to address the issues. Consequently, different affected processes were analysed and characterised, considering the relevant data for defining a KPI. Then, strategies and methods were devised for data collection and processing regarding the system’s current state. Finally, tools were designed to facilitate the interpretation of the system’s current state and thus, pave the way for the decision-making process on corrective measures.

Purpose: The aim was to analyze inconsistencies in the production process of rebated internal frame and panel doors using KPIs and to identify causes of deviations from the quality plan using selected quality management tools. Design/methodology/approach: KPIs and instruments of quality management (Pareto-Lorenz diagram, Ishikawa diagram and 5Why?) were used. The survey covered products manufactured in the third and fourth quarters of 2019. Findings: It was found that the most serious non-compliance was the presence of an uneven rim surface (Pareto-Lorenz diagram). Potential causes were inadequate gluing of the door leaf layers and the use of worn flange processing equipment (Ishikawa diagram). On the other hand, the root cause of the quality problem turned out to be the lack of supervision and proper training of employees (5Why method). Research limitations/implications: The presented research process has no limitations – it can be used in manufacturing companies. Further research will concern the application of the methodology to the analysis of other products offered by the company. Practical implications: the research contributed to the identification of the causes of the lowered quality level, which will allow to implement appropriate remedial measures. As part of the improvement measures, training must be carried out at the workplace and the availability of work instructions must be ensured. Originality/value: so far no extended quality analyses have been conducted in the company – no KPIs have been used in combination with extended analyses carried out with the use of quality management tools. The presented methodology is useful for the company where the analysis was made and for the manufacturing companies that want to effectively improve their production processes.

Warehouse and inventory management is a recurring issue in many of the different supply chains in diverse industries, where the constant changes in the markets have a direct impact on the management of warehouses and inventories, either generating over-stocks or shortages. This paper presents a case study on warehouse and inventory management control. The company under study was having problems in this area, where over-stocks were generated frequently, leading to various incidents, such as having to store finished and packaged product in unsuitable places, with the associated risk of deterioration. To deal with this problem, control tools based on the KPI (Key Performance Indicator) concept were developed. To this end, the corresponding problem and the information management process within the Supply Chain department had to be analyzed. In this case, it was observed that the databases were not synchronized, therefore strategies were proposed to systematize the collection and updating of data. In addition, to summarize the information, we proceeded to the implementation of an interactive form that facilitates the visualization and interpretation of the evolution of the process, and to be able to apply an efficient control on it, and thus to propose corrective actions supported by evidence.

The COVID-19 pandemic requires many companies changing the way of their operations because of the lock down of movement and limitation of facing contact, etc. This also is an opportunity for companies to utilize technology and use digital space to keep their works and companies' activities. Companies can encourage their labors via policies of promotions. However, how to evaluate employee performance fairly, unbiasedly, and transparently? The existence of AI (Artificial Intelligence), especially machine learning, might be a solution for this due to the fact that it can automatically evaluate individual workers' performance. Therefore, the performance evaluation process ensures that the system works without interference from people outside of the system. In the paper, a framework of KPIs building systems to evaluate individual workers is represented as a solution for applying the advantage of AI (machine learning techniques) in Vietnamese companies. It can help them to improve the labor productivity and increase the workers' quality in the labor market in general.

The use of new technologies in Industry 4.0 enables better organization, monitoring, control and effective optimization of production processes, especially in terms of efficiency. The solution is based on a hierarchical analysis of key performance indicators, including mainly the control of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The growing number of quantifiable signals monitoring machine operation, ambient temperature or even the frequency of vibrations makes decision support tools more and more sophisticated. Moreover, they also include predictive analysis in addition to presentations of the current state of resources. PUPMT tool allows identifying key events that have a significant impact on current or future production efficiency. It also allows the what-iftype analysis, running the simulation of the impact of the proposed changes, and the results of this simulation depend on the effects of similar changes that occurred in the past in a given enterprise. Thanks to the automatic identification of potential dependencies, the proposed solution adapts to the specifics of a given company or even a selected production unit. The paper in the first part contains a description of the essential methods used in the PUPMT tool. The second part presents selected results of industrial research, which were carried out on several dozen production units.

This report addresses selected methodological aspects of proactive reliability, functional safety and cyber security management in life cycle of industrial automation and control systems (IACS) in hazardous plants and oil port critical installations based on the analysis of relevant hazards / threats and evaluation of related risks. In addition the insurance company point of view has been also considered, because nowadays the insurer, interested in decreasing risks to be insured, offers the expertise how to limit effectively risks in life cycle from the design conceptual stage of hazardous plant, through its reliable and safe operation, until decommissioning. Therefore, the risk evaluation model for insurance related decision making for the period considered, e.g. one year, should be plant specific with some predictive properties due to changing environment and business conditions, and usually considerable uncertainty involved. The objective is to evaluate and mitigate risks, and control them proactively, through undertaking appropriate activities within a process based management system according to elaborated policy and strategy that includes organisational and technical aspects, including preventive maintenance activities of sensitive equipment and updating in time the training programmes. Careful evaluating and controlling risks is also crucial for the insurance company. Basic activities of the risk engineers and underwriters in the insurance process are outlined in the context of identified hazards/threats and defined factors that significantly influence risks to be considered in evaluating the insurance premium in the context of terms and conditions specified.

Key performance indicators are defined as a set of metrics allowing assessment of the production process performance. These metrics include e.g. throughput of the production line, availability and effectiveness of the machines and their operators, as well as the quality of manufactured products. The first part of the paper discusses a hierarchical, three-level structure of the performance indicators in which the values of the so-called basic indicators are determined both based on the production plans as well as from the measurements carried out directly at the production units. Based on the values of the basic indicators, the values of the comprehensive indicators are determined to be used as a synthetic assessment of the effectiveness of the use of machines and human resources. These indicators allow gathering knowledge on the current condition of the production process as well as taking possible corrective actions aimed at improving its functioning. The results of the industrial research based on the original implementation of the presented theory will be discussed in the second part of the paper.
