In this study, we analyze how a company's inventory policy changes because of adopting CSR policies in the manufacturing companies listed on the Shanghai Shenzhen stock exchange by targeting manufacturing companies, as their overall policies are greatly impacted by the level of inventory. The analysis focus on how inventory policies affect Chinese companies' CSR. Inventory levels affect company policies therefore we chose manufacturing companies. The uniqueness of the topic warranted us to research CSR and Inventory management from historical and current viewpoints. The topic has few investigations, especially in China. Increased worker, consumer, and environmental satisfaction may impact volume, according to this study. Given the uniqueness of the topic, there are a very limited number of studies conducted on the topic, especially in the Chinese context, which warrants us to conduct the study, keeping in view the historical and present perspectives of both CSR and Inventory management. In this study, we take this step further by examining whether the volume is affected by efforts to improve the satisfaction of staff, consumers, and the natural environment. We found that customer satisfaction positively affects the cost-to-sales ratio. Environmental consciousness harms the ratio, and employee satisfaction has an inverted U-shaped association with this ratio. It was also found that customer satisfaction positively correlates with inventory levels. Our research has shown that increased levels of social responsibility led to decreased levels of customer corporate social responsibility and increased levels of CSR, which explains the non-linear relationship between a company's total CSR and the to-sales ratio. According to the collected data, the ratio of profits to sales tends to increase when a company's CSR rating is much higher (or lower) than the mean of the CSR distribution.

Wyjątkowość tematu skłoniła nas do zbadania CSR i zarządzania zapasami z historycznego i aktualnego punktu widzenia.

This research addresses an inventory classification problem in a company that manufactures plastic pallets. Classification of the inventory is difficult because it is subject to two restrictions: the number of changeovers and the size of inventory storage. A mathematical model is first proposed to maximize the fill rate by classifying all product items into four groups. Due to all items can be classified based on the monthly demand, in descending order. The present study then proposed a procedure to find the classification that is most efficient. According to the experimental results, the maximum fill rate in the current situation is 89.85%. The proposed methodology also tested different production batches and levels of demand. The proposed methodology was found to be appropriate for practical application.

Inventory management continues to play a critical role in the success of an organization. It is the collection of all the materials and goods stored, whether for use to complete the production process or for sale to the customer. The efficiency of inventory management is a challenge for all companies that have a warehouse or distribution center. Therefore, all firms need to adapt their business strategies to survive in a highly competitive market by applying tools or systems to support inventory control and management. This research was conducted to increase the efficiency of inventory management of an industrial tool distributor in Thailand by using the data visualization tool. It focused on the inventory planning process. Lean manufacturing was implemented to identify, improve and eliminate unnecessary activities in operations. Microsoft Power BI is a data visualization tool that was used in this study to support officers in operational decision-making and planning. It facilitated the monitoring of inventory levels, evaluating the value of inventory, and analyzing the key vendors on an almost real-time basis. The results showed that unnecessary activities were improved and simplified by integrating the data visualization tool. The lead time of the inventory planning process was decreased by 76.19% from 10.5 days to 2.5 days per time. It can increase the efficiency of inventory management.

Wdrożono koncepcję zarządzania szczupłego w celu identyfikacji, poprawy i eliminacji zbędnych działań w operacjach. Czas realizacji procesu planowania zapasów został skrócony o 76,19% z 10,5 dnia do 2,5 dnia. Przeprowadzone badania stanowią przykład, jak można zwiększyć efektywność zarządzania zapasami.

Inventory management’s fundamental problem starts with maintaining equilibrium among the operating efficiency, cost of investment, and other allied costs with extensive inventories to keep the actual conflicts at the minimum while optimizing the inventory holding levels. But, inventory management practices have not been well exploited in various manufacturing industries yet. In this study, inventory management tools, i.e., ABC and VED analysis, have been applied in the manufacturing industry, considering 146 items as raw material for an assembly. A total of 15 items under ‘AV’ class have been identified that consume 82.05 % of the total cost, and these items need strict control and frequent ordering. Sigma level of suppliers is also calculated, which comes out to be 2.36, and it must be improved to reduce the overall inventory cost.

The presence of the spare parts stock is a necessity to ensure the continuity of services. The supply of spare parts is a special case of the global supply chain. The main objective of our research is to propose a global spare parts management approach which allows decision makers to determine the essential points in stock management. Thus, it is important for the stock manager to evaluate the system considered from time to time based on performance indicators. Some of these indicators are presented in the form of a dashboard. The presentation of this chapter chronologically traces the progress of our research work. In the first part, we present the work related to the forecast of spare parts needs through parametric and statistical methods as well as a Bayesian modelling of demand forecasting. To measure the appreciation of the supply of spare parts inventory, the second part focuses on work related to the evaluation of the performance of the spare parts system. Thus, we concretize the link between the management of spare parts and maintenance in the third part, more precisely, in the performance evaluation of the joint -management of spare parts and maintenance, in order to visualize the influence of parameters on the system. In the last section of this chapter, we will present the metaheuristic methods and their use in the management of spare parts and maintenance and make an analysis on work done in the literature.

In a well-organized company, stock levels are precisely planned. In order to optimize inventory, various analyses of inventory usage are carried out in terms of them quantity and status. The work presents research on improving the method of managing inventory in the tire industry using the example of a selected company. The company operates warehouses in which tires for passenger cars and vans are stored. Products stored in warehouses ensure high standards. The company focuses on individuality and has a strong market position. The paper presents the results of the ABC and XYZ analysis that allow grouping tires by demand, value and number. The criteria for choosing the ABC/XYZ method are a simple way of use and low financial outlays, in contrast to such methods as MRP or just in time. Furthermore, calculations of such standards as rotation ratios for individual seasons and optimal inventory were carried out. The rotation indicator allows determine which goods are sold quickly and which goods are selling poorly, and therefore the costs associated with their storage are probably higher than from the sale of profits. As a result of the analysis, improvements were made to the inventory management system. The implementation of the proposed methods and tools for inventory management allowed the company to eliminate unnecessary inventories, reduce storage costs and minimize inventory control.

The literature on product variety provides great insights into various businesses. However, little research has been conducted on product variety in the healthcare industry. This study aims to explore the influence of product variety on inventory in hospitals. Since most hospitals are known to replenish products using a homegrown ad-hoc system, a model is developed for exploring all possible product combinations and substitutions. This article presents the behaviour of product substitution, which may be either one-to-one or many-to-one for both sterile and non-sterile products, in the hospital with cost factors. It discusses the product variety reduction and its corresponding cost impacts. The data on a hospital inventory over the course of six years has been procured from a hospital in Norway. Based on the results, the hospital could have a potential product variety reduction of approximately 11% and cost savings from the spending of approximately NOK 3.6 million. Reducing the variety of products in hospital inventories proves to be an approach to reducing costs. The model developed for the research.

Forecasting and lot-sizing problems are key for a variety of products manufactured in a plant of finite capacity. The plant manager needs to put special emphasis on the way of selecting the right forecasting methods with a higher level of accuracy and to conduct procurement planning based on specific lot-sizing methods and associated rolling horizon. The study is con-ducted using real case data form the Fibertex Personal Care, and has evalu-ated the joint influence of forecasting procedures such as ARIMA, exponen-tial smoothing methods; and deterministic lot-sizing methods such as the Wagner-Whitin method, modified Silver-Meal heuristic to draw insights on the effect of the appropriate method selection on minimization of operational cost. The objective is to explore their joint effect on the cost minimization goal. It is found that a proficient selection process has a considerable impact on performance. The proposed method can help a manager to save substantial operational costs.

The supply chain of spare parts is the intersection between the supply chain, the after-sales and the maintenance services. Some authors have tried to define improvement paths in terms of models to satisfy the performance criteria. In addition, other authors are directed towards the integration of risk management in the demand forecasting and the stock management (performance evaluation) through probabilistic models. Among these models, the probabilistic graphical models are the most used, for example, Bayesian networks and petri nets. Performance evaluation is done through performance indicators. To measure the appreciation of the supply of the spare parts stock, this paper focuses on the performance evaluation of the system by petri nets. This evaluation will be done through an analytical study. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and analyze the performance of the system by proposed indicators. First, we present a literature review on Petri nets which is the essential tool in our modeling. Secondly, we present in the third section the analytical study of the model based on bath deterministic and stochastic petri networks. Finally, we present an analysis of the proposed model compared to the existing ones.

Current inventory management concepts in both business practices and literature can be divided into two major themes. The first one optimizes transportation and warehousing activities within a single company, while the second one focuses also on collaboration with external partners, such as suppliers, clients, transportation companies and others. In the article, pursuant to literature review, a case study analysis of a company implementing a single entity inventory management model was undertaken. The aim of the article was to analyze benefits and weaknesses of single entity inventory management model together with its implementation. The results of such research, could be potentially valuable and applicable in business practices. The case study analysis showed considerable and quantifiable improvements resulting from aforementioned system implementation. More detailed analysis, revealed however, several weaknesses of a model. These weaknesses pave the way for the company to the further improvements and indicate a direction for potential future research.

The EOQ model is one of the oldest classic production scheduling models. The EOQ mathematical models have been established within the scope of operations management to determine the optimal inventory level. The most widely used model is the EOQ model. This journal research uses descriptive research design. A survey was conducted on automotive components of a Japanese company in Indonesia. The company is one of the fastest growing industrial company among automotive component companies. The main products are copper materials used by the automotive industry for lamps, switches, electrical panel components two-wheeled vehicles and four-wheeled vehicles. The Japanese company seeks to meet increasing customer demand but on the other hand strive to obtain optimal inventory costs, as well as demand by parent companies in Japan for faster money turnover or otherwise known as Inventory Turnover Ratio (ITR) and must be in quantity minimum or small. This means the goods in the order must be as required.

Inventory management is focused with ensuring that all activities involved in labor storage and stock control are carried out efficiently and economically by those working in inventory storage. Then, there is a question for management regarding the efficiency of inventory management procedures because of inconsistencies in inventory levels that cause weaknesses such as losses incurred due to end-inventory stocks, low stock inventories, failure to meet targets and poor corporate morale. As a result, the inventory storage of the company is too busy making the job a difficult supply keeper, late in issuing materials to the department and in turn producing poor inventory service delivery. In inventory management, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) is the number of orders that minimize total holding costs and booking costs. The EOQ model is one of the oldest classic production scheduling models. The EOQ mathematical models have been established within the scope of operations management to determine the optimal inventory level. The most widely used model is the EOQ model.

Well-organized management of a supply chain involves the control of inventory levels and fast response to the changing customer demands. Enterprises cannot cope with this problem which contributes to the growing stock levels and therefore increases costs. The main goal of the article is to present a simulation approach to the problem of inventory management in a supply chain. The work shows the use of computer simulation techniques in order to emulate a supply chain system and its stochastic behaviour. The procedure for the usage of simulation modelling was described in a case study containing an analysis of an online store. The simulation results are presented using statistical parameters, which means that managers can get not only information concerning the expected value of the parameter looking decision-making, but also statistics to the characteristics of the risk associated with the decision associated with possible uncertainty.
